"Your company approved it."
"I am not my company."
At this moment, Tony realized that what Jaxon said might be true.
Someone in the company had betrayed him, and that person was most likely Obadiah.
'I was the one who ordered the closure of the weapons department, and now something like this is happening.'
It wasn't hard to imagine that someone must have approved this batch of weapons behind his back.
Tony took the photo, left without looking back, and went to find Obadiah.
Near the bar, Jaxon and Pepper were drinking together and saw Tony being stopped by Christine.
"I remember her, one of Tony's ex-girlfriends, she's a reporter."
"It seems that Tony's taste isn't very good. I think you're much more beautiful."
Pepper smiled, feeling flattered by Jaxon's compliment.
Meanwhile, Tony, clearly not in a good mood, left with the photo and went to find Obadiah, who was being interviewed.
After the nearby reporters were cleared away, Tony walked straight up to Obadiah and asked without hesitation.
"Do you know these pictures?"
"Do you know what happened in the town of Comilla?"
Obadiah saw that Tony had discovered the truth and didn't bother to hide it any longer, "Tony, you can't be so naive."
Tony was furious, feeling both deceived and betrayed.
Even though Jaxon had warned him earlier, only now did Tony fully realize how deeply he had been wronged.
Suppressing his anger, Tony responded, "I was naive. They said we wouldn't cross the line, that it was just business. But we were secretly double-dealing, weren't we?"
Obadiah's expression turned grim. After hearing Tony's question, he realized action needed to be taken.
It was either Tony stepping down, or Obadiah leaving Stark Industries — or even facing jail time.
Obadiah had made up his mind: if he failed, he was prepared to die.
Looking around at the nearby reporters, Obadiah put on a polite face and said, "Tony, let's take a picture together."
They posed for photos, looking like brothers in front of the cameras.
Obadiah used the opportunity to speak softly, "Tony, who do you think is pushing you out?"
"I filed a restraining order against you. It's the only way I can protect you."
After saying this, Obadiah walked away without looking back, leaving Tony standing there, feeling abandoned and betrayed.
Tony had now confirmed that Obadiah was the mastermind behind it all.
Watching him leave, Tony made up his mind.
Without staying long, Tony also left the charity gala.
Pepper, meanwhile, grew anxious when she saw Christine returning without Tony.
"Tony seems to be missing."
"Maybe he left for something important." Jaxon replied.
Noticing it was getting late, Pepper said, "Jaxon, it's late. I think I should head back."
"Okay, I'll take you home."
Jaxon escorted Pepper back to her place. As they reached her door, Pepper seemed nervous, torn about what to do next.
Should she invite Jaxon in or let him leave?
Seeing her hesitation, Jaxon took the initiative, wrapping his arms around her in a gentle hug.
"Goodnight, Pepper."
Pepper felt her nerves calm as their eyes met, the situation beginning to spiral out of control.
Just as she was about to lose herself in the moment, she snapped back to her senses.
"Jaxon, that's enough."
"I-I'm just not ready yet."
Seeing her flustered expression, Jaxon didn't push further.
He knew that if he kept going, he could probably stay the night. But he wasn't in a rush; sooner or later, she would be his.
"It's okay. When you're ready, I'll be here."
"Thank you, Jaxon."
"Goodnight, Pepper."
"Goodnight."
After watching her go inside, Jaxon returned to his place, reflecting on the night.
"So close… again."
"First Mary Jane asked that awkward question, and now Pepper wasn't ready."
"So I guess I deserve this misery, huh?"
Jaxon took a cold shower and eventually fell into a comfortable sleep.
At the same time, Tony was working away in his underground lab.
The news played on his computer, showing the town of Comilla being attacked by bandits.
Tony even recognized a familiar face in the footage.
Fueled by anger and a desire for redemption, Tony finished his final preparations.
"Jarvis, play the music and assemble the armor."
Tony stood still as Jarvis operated the mechanical arms, putting the Mark 3 armor on piece by piece.
Accompanied by energetic music, the armor was finally complete.
The mask snapped shut.
"Jarvis!"
"Yes, sir."
"It's time to move."
Energy surged from the soles of his feet and hands as Tony shot off, leaving his villa behind and soaring into the night sky.
---
Iron Man attacked the Ten Rings gang, taking them down.
On the way back, he even had a skirmish with an airplane, damaging one before successfully returning to his villa.
As Tony was taking off his armor, Pepper, alerted by the noise, rushed to him.
"Tony, what did you do?"
"Are those bullet marks?"
Tony didn't explain, and Pepper didn't press him for answers, "Ethan came to see you."
"Pepper, could you entertain Ethan for a bit? I'll be right there."
Ethan had seen the news about Comilla and came to talk to Tony, concerned for his hometown.
He didn't expect Tony to fix everything, but he hoped Tony could do something about the rampant weapons proliferation.
If that problem were solved, many lives could be saved.
"Ethan, long time no see."
"Tony."
Tony knew why Ethan had come, "Did you see the news about Comilla?"
"Yeah, I saw it."
Tony quickly added, "I didn't sell those weapons."
Ethan, having spent more than two months with Tony, trusted him.
"I know you didn't. And I also know that you're the only one who can stop this."
Tony grew serious, "I'll do it."
"I've already been to Comilla. I wiped out the gangsters there and destroyed all of Stark Industries' weapons."
"From now on, I'll make sure no more weapons are sold by Stark."
Tony had pieced together what Obadiah had been doing behind his back and couldn't stand it any longer.
His next move was clear: expose Obadiah's crimes, kick him out of the company, and regain control.
"I believe in you, Tony."
The two shared a bond after surviving their ordeal in the cave, and their friendship was still strong.
Tony didn't hide anything from Ethan and showed him the Iron Man suit in the basement.
The two drank and played chess, with Tony mentally preparing to ask Pepper to help him steal Obadiah's secrets from the company.
Once they had the evidence, they could oust Obadiah.
What Tony didn't know was that Obadiah was already planning to kill him.
If the Ten Rings hadn't gotten greedy and tried to use Tony to make weapons last time, Tony would already be dead.
Now, Obadiah was quietly building his own suit of armor.
Everything seemed to be moving back to the original plot.
Pepper helped Tony gather evidence against Obadiah, forcing Obadiah to accelerate his plan.
After obtaining the evidence, Pepper noticed she was being followed and contacted Jaxon in a panic.
Jaxon, who had just finished class, immediately picked up her call.
"Hey, Pepper."
"Jaxon, I don't know what to do. Obadiah… he's the one who worked with the Ten Rings to kidnap Tony. I got the evidence, but I think I'm being followed!"
"I'm scared, Jaxon!"
Jaxon instantly sensed the danger. Coulson, who was supposed to be waiting for Tony at the company, was gone. No one was there to protect Pepper.
"I'm coming to you now. After we hang up, call Coulson immediately. He'll send someone to guard you."
"Hurry, Jaxon."
