"Let me take a look. Don't move," Shuri, who appeared to be a young girl, said. Vision's imposing stature had her ask him to sit on a chair in the lab.
Vision remained perfectly still, not a muscle twitching.
After carefully examining the yellow gem embedded in Vision's forehead with advanced equipment, Shuri turned to Kyle with an amazed expression. "Did you create him?"
"Sort of," Kyle shrugged.
"How did you do it? Is this... the legendary creation of a god?" Shuri asked, astonished.
"Think of it like a complex chemical reaction. You put the right elements together," Kyle responded calmly.
"Then how did you get the gem into his forehead? His body is supposed to be made of Vibranium, right?" Shuri's gray eyes flickered with genuine curiosity.
They were experts in Vibranium research, eager to learn everything about it.
Kyle gestured nonchalantly, extending two fingers, "I simply pressed a hole with my fingers and inserted it."
Shuri: "..."
T'Challa: "..."
Seriously? You pressed your fingers into the Vibranium?
"Alright," T'Challa coughed and asked, "Shuri, can you help them remove the gem from his forehead?"
"It's incredibly difficult. In fact, it's the most challenging task I've ever encountered," Shuri said with a deep frown, staring at the gem on Vision's forehead. "The gem is completely fused with him, connected to millions of his brain neurons. Removing it would require carefully separating each neuron, and even then, I can't guarantee his survival."
"If there's even a slight chance of success, please help us remove it," Vision said in a low voice, his determination unwavering.
"I'll do my best," Shuri waved her hand and led them into the cutting-edge research room. "Come with me. I need to perform a full-body scan of you."
"Alright," Vision nodded and followed her inside. He was determined to separate the Mind Stone from his body.
For freedom – the freedom of both body and mind – even if it was only for a brief moment.
Since this was Vision's choice, Kyle didn't try to dissuade him. The Mind Stone, one of the universe's most advanced strategic resources, would ultimately claim his life if it remained within him. It was better to take a chance now.
"Don't worry, Master Kyle," T'Challa offered comfort as he watched them enter the lab. "My sister Shuri, despite her age, is a once-in-a-century genius in our country. She has mastered all of Wakanda's advanced technologies, and many groundbreaking innovations are her creations. She's currently our country's leading inventor."
"I'm aware," Kyle said with a smile. He had already assessed Shuri's abilities when they first met.
Her intellect, combined with the knowledge granted by her "Advanced Technology" card – a rare blue Ability Card from the technology branch – allowed her to conceive of technologies far beyond the current era.
Current status: Not extractable.
"She's truly impressive."
Kyle murmured quietly. Few people earned his respect, and even fewer deserved his praise.
Shuri was one of those few. She possessed technological prowess that even a genius like Tony Stark couldn't match. Of course, this was also due to the vast, cross-era technological knowledge she had acquired growing up in Wakanda.
"It will likely take some time. Perhaps we should retire to the hall and wait?" T'Challa gestured towards the spacious, bright royal hall. Steve and Bucky were still there, both old acquaintances of Kyle.
"Certainly," Kyle agreed. He followed T'Challa out of the lab and back to the grand hall.
However, as they entered the hall, Kyle's expression suddenly changed. His gaze shifted through the window towards the bright sky outside.
"Kyle, what's wrong?" Steve and Bucky, noticing his altered demeanor, couldn't help but ask.
Kyle remained silent for a moment before calmly stating, "Odin is dead."
"The father of Thor, the Allfather of Norse mythology?" Steve and the others widened their eyes. In their understanding, gods were immortal, especially the king of gods.
Kyle gently nodded. He had just sensed it – a massive and subtle energy fading and dispersing from Earth.
The specific location seemed to be... Norway, in Europe. This could only mean it was Odin, who had been residing in seclusion on Earth.
Another great god had fallen.
Kyle couldn't describe the feeling in his heart. Immediately afterward, he sensed a surge of angry, thunderous power building up in Norway, poised to erupt.
It was Thor.
Since Thor was there, Loki might be nearby as well. Loki possessed the Aether and the Tesseract.
"Hmm?" Kyle suddenly froze.
He distinctly sensed that, besides Thor, another powerful force, brimming with evil and death, was tearing at the fabric of space in Norway.
This force was even more potent than Odin's! It definitely wasn't something Loki possessed!
"We're in trouble!" Kyle reacted swiftly. He summoned a card, materialized it into a hovering ring, and placed it on the two fingers of his left hand. He immediately began drawing a circle in the air within the hall.
The teleportation portal opened.
Kyle rushed into the portal alone, leaving T'Challa and the others in the hall, utterly bewildered.
What was happening?
In Europe, Norway, on a cliffside meadow near the sea.
As Kyle stepped out of the portal, he saw the shattered remnants of Thor's hammer on the ground and a Bifrost beam crashing into the grass ahead. Thor, Loki, and a woman clad in black were rapidly ascending along the rainbow beam.
"Just in time."
Kyle immediately activated double star form, transforming into a dazzling streak of light with energy surging around him. At the very last moment, just as the Bifrost beam was about to vanish, he crashed into the light column like the final tail flame leaving Earth.
The Bifrost beam disappeared from Earth, leaving behind a circular imprint.
Another portal opened, and Doctor Strange stepped through. He scanned the empty area, his gaze finally settling on the shattered pieces of Thor's hammer.
"Too late. Well, I'm actually glad I arrived late. Otherwise, I might have met my demise."
"Kyle went after them? It truly is gods battling each other," Doctor Strange shook his head and crossed the portal back to the New York Sanctum. As long as they weren't wreaking havoc on Earth, everything was manageable.
Within the Bifrost beam traveling through the universe.
With Odin's demise, Hela, the death goddess who had finally broken free from her seal, was soaring freely through the rainbow beam. She summoned two black daggers and struck Thor and Loki, sending them hurtling out of the Bifrost, lost in the vast expanse of the universe.
"Anyone else?" Hela looked down in surprise. At the very end of the light column, a figure cloaked in dazzling radiance was rapidly approaching.
When she saw the tall and familiar figure, Hela was struck as if by lightning, exclaiming in disbelief:
"It's you? How is this possible?!"
