Chapter 305: Minor authorities
As Eryndor felt the fundamental difference in the Sovereign's Cloak, he also tried to find out what had changed.
Immediately, his breath was caught in his throat as his gaze travelled downwards.
There was an additional set of words below the description of the Sovereign's Cloak.
[The Sovereign's Cloak has the following minor authorities.]
[Guardian's Mantle: The Sovereign's Cloak no longer solely protects you. By channeling Energy of Consciousness, you can extend its unparalleled defense to others, objects, or even entire areas.
For as long as you sustain this effort, anything within the projected field becomes as inviolable as you are.]
[Disruptive Nullification: Your Cloak's inherent resistance to control now extends outwards in a localized burst.
If lesser manipulation attempts occur in your immediate vicinity—like a spell to bind someone or a telekinetic grip on an object—you can cause that specific effect to momentarily falter or collapse, even if it wasn't aimed at you.]
[Truth's Imperative: Your Cloak repels all forms of manipulation, and this now includes informational deceit.
When lies are spoken directly to you, a profound intuitive sense will stir, signaling that something is fundamentally false. You will feel, rather than just hear, the inherent deception.]
[Keep in mind, these are minor authorities. Their effects would be weaker compared to major authorities.]
Eryndor's attention was on the word 'authority'.
Wait, so my Sovereign's Cloak is really an authority?
And it's a major authority?
Hmmm…
So only major authorities are worthy of a revered appellation?
Hmm, it's not too bad I guess, I shouldn't be too greedy.
Eryndor had guessed that he would get 3 more abilities, but he got minor ones.
However, it was really just him being greedy at that point.
I should be happy with what I got.
Eryndor then carefully thought about the three minor authorities he unlocked.
Guardian's Mantle is amazing, I can basically extend all the powers of the Sovereign's Cloak to some other spot rather than just on myself.
From the description, it doesn't mean the protection on myself will be transferred away, so I will still be under protection while providing safety to others.
However, like always, the distance, the area I am protecting, and the damage my extended bastion is capable of defending against would all depend on my Energy of Consciousness.
I'll need to experiment with it to know if there are any other factors.
Now I just need to know its range.
If it is as big as my Spatial Sight, then it would be amazing.
He then read the second minor authority again before resuming his thinking.
Disruptive Nullification is terrific as well.
I think it would cost me less Energy of Consciousness than Guardian's Mantle since it's mainly aimed at anti-control effects.
If the enemy is skilled at controlling, then it would be more cost effective if I use Disruptive Nullification than Guardian's Mantle.
Lastly, his eyes lit up once again just like the previous time he read the third ability.
Truth's Imperative is almost a broken ability.
It literally provides defense on an informational level.
Of course, since this is a minor authority, there can similarly be some other minor authority or a major authority which can bypass this, but just how many people can have that?
Apart from that, I also need to know what all are the things which can bypass this ability.
As much as this is useful, if I rely on it too much and there happens to be something I didn't account for which could fool this ability, then I will be fucked.
But apart from the counters, if we truly look at the ability itself, like I previously thought, it really is broken.
This is almost as crazy as abstract concept based anomalies.
Hmmmm… there's also the fact that it will only notify me that something is wrong.
It won't specifically point me towards the part of the sentence which is false, and it also won't tell me what is the truth.
He paused as that thought passed his mind, and then chuckled helplessly.
I am being greedy again. If the latter was possible then it would've been way too strong. Such types of ability are maybe only possessed by those at the very top and retain the full extent of their powers, unlike me.
As for the former, maybe I'll get that if I gain more mastery over this ability?
Eryndor heaved a sigh as he finished considering all this.
After giving a read once again to all the abilities, Eryndor left the Mind Palace and returned to his physical body.
As usual, he activated Spatial Sight immediately, and noticed that there was no disciple in his range right now.
Did they find the exit?
A sense of urgency rose in Eryndor.
It wasn't really to exit this space, but to know where the exit was.
There were still plenty of energy herbs left in this space, with his kindness, how could he leave all of them behind and exit by himself?
It's good that those disciples don't know what these herbs are.
He thought.
One might be confused, because a cultivation power system person could still sense and recognise what stage and realm another person was at if they displayed their arts, or spells, even if the second person practiced another power system.
Then why couldn't they sense herbs of different energy?
Because, energy herbs didn't really radiate any 'energy'.
It was the same as if a person didn't employ their power, another person wouldn't be able to guess their stage, realm, and power system either.
Herbs naturally couldn't do that.
Therefore people couldn't sense the energy hidden in them.
Of course, it was a whole nother thing if they used probing cultivation art.
It was made to glance at the realms, and stages of others without them revealing their power.
If they used it at the plants, they wouldn't really sense any Qi, but they would definitely sense the different energy flowing within them!
However, let's be honest.
If no one could find anything, and you, as someone who practiced probing cultivation art, found this oddity, would you let everyone know?
Obviously not.
There was more than one such person in the remaining disciples.
And Eryndor was going to hunt them.
