Chapter 21 - Village bully He Qing
In the past, Qin Nan had also suffered under He Qing’s bullying. Back then, without memories of his previous life, he was frail and powerless, making him an easy target.
But now, having grown stronger in secret, Qin Nan was a cultivator in the Qi Drawing Realm. Though he kept a low profile, the villagers had no idea just how capable he had become.
“Come inside, let me dress your wounds,” Qin Nan said.
“Thank you, Brother Qin Nan,” Yang Xiaoqi responded sweetly, following him into the house.
Qin Nan gestured for Yang Xiaoqi to sit while he retrieved a medicine box. Carefully, he applied ointment and wrapped her injuries.
Touching her fair, soft hand, Qin Nan couldn’t help but admire its silky smoothness. Then his gaze fell to his slender, alabaster legs, their perfect curves and lines. How could anyone believe she was a boy?
If one didn’t know better, she could captivate anyone for a year.
His pale complexion made the scraped skin stand out, like a blot of ink on fine rice paper—impossible to ignore. Qin Nan spared no expense, using precious medicine to ensure the wounds healed flawlessly without leaving scars.
As he worked, he repeatedly reminded himself: She’s a boy. She’s a boy.
“What’s going on, hubby?” a voice chimed in.
It was Shangguan Ruoyue, who had been quietly cultivating in another room, multitasking by studying gynecology. Despite her focus, she immediately sensed the arrival of an outsider—and knew it was Yang Xiaoqi.
Shangguan Ruoyue eyed Yang Xiaoqi with skepticism. Though she had confirmed he was male, his delicate features and demeanor were too exquisite.
Ordinary village girls would likely feel self-conscious around him. Only someone like Shangguan Ruoyue, a peerless beauty herself, could remain unshaken.
Still, she couldn’t help but harbor a subtle wariness, concerned that her husband might one day be “bend.”
Although Shangguan Rouyue had previously been entirely devoted to her cultivation, maintaining her purity and aloofness, she was still aware of the concept of men favoring their own gender.
While she was confident that her husband wasn’t inclined that way—after all, they were already married—she couldn’t help but worry about the possibility of him being ‘bend.'”
Of course, these irrational worries were hers alone, and she would never voice them. Stirring her husband’s displeasure might result in “punishment” later in bed.
When Shangguan Ruoyue heard of Yang Xiaoqi’s plight, her righteous anger flared.
She offered to confront He Qing herself, intending to teach the bully a harsh lesson.
Qin Nan declined. If his wife took action, her decisive methods would leave He Qing either maimed or dead.
Though eliminating He Qing would cause no personal grief, they all lived in the same village. Killing him might alienate their neighbors, creating unnecessary tensions.
“Let me handle it, wifey. There’s no need for you to dirty your hands,” Qin Nan assured her.
“But if you get hurt, that would be far worse,” Shangguan Ruoyue voiced her concern.
“Are you underestimating your hubby? I’m a cultivator now. I can take down a leopard bare-handed. If I can’t handle a small-time village bully, I might as well give up cultivation,” Qin Nan replied.
Reluctantly, Shangguan Ruoyue relented.
After dressing Yang Xiaoqi’s wounds, Qin Nan gave her a bowl of bitter herbal medicine to drink, assuring her that the minor injuries would heal by the evening.
He didn’t immediately rush to confront He Qing. Instead, he invited Yang Xiaoqi to stay for lunch, where they enjoyed a leisurely meal and tea before heading out.
Shangguan Ruoyue, though she didn’t follow in person, secretly extended her divine senses to monitor Qin Nan’s movements.
Despite her confidence in her husband’s abilities, a trace of worry lingered.
“Brother Qin Nan, maybe we should just let this go. It’s only a minor injury, and I feel much better after the treatment,” Yang Xiaoqi said nervously.
“Let it go? If He Qing bullies someone else, that’s their business. But he dared lay a hand on my little sister. That’s the same as bullying me,” Qin Nan declared.
“Little sister…?” Yang Xiaoqi blinked in surprise.
“I think of you as my sister. You don’t mind, do you?” Qin Nan asked.
“I don’t mind… I’m really happy,” Yang Xiaoqi said shyly, her cheeks turning inexplicably red.
Although he didn’t know exactly where He Qing was, NiuJiao Village wasn’t a large place. Asking a few villagers made finding someone a simple task.
After inquiring with one of the villagers, he quickly learned He Qing’s location.
Not long after, Qin Nan and Yang Xiaoqi arrived at the edge of the village near a fruit grove, where He Qing was gorging on stolen fruit.
The small-time bully, true to form, had two cronies with him, similarly feasting.
“He Qing,” Qin Nan called out.
“Qin Nan!” For some reason, seeing Qin Nan approach made He Qing feel a hint of unease, causing his eating motion to pause.
However, He Qing quickly masked his discomfort, reverting to a disdainful expression.
When his eyes landed on Yang Xiaoqi trailing behind Qin Nan, he immediately understood the situation.”
“You’re here to stand up for Yang Xiaoqi, aren’t you? What a busybody,” He Qing scoffed.
“She’s my sister. Of course, I’ll stand up for her,” Qin Nan said evenly.
“Sister? Ha! That guy’s a man. Are you out of your mind? I’ve heard you two are close. Could it be… that kind of relationship?” He Qing jeered.
“That’s none of your business. But for the record, no. I have a wife,” Qin Nan replied coolly.
This was no secret; the entire village knew about the little miracle doctor and his stunning wife. The couple’s occasional public displays of affection—like flying through the air together—had made them a household topic.
The thought of Qin Nan’s celestial wife filled He Qing with jealousy. Why can’t I have a wife like that? I’m the village bully, after all.
“Now let’s talk about you beating my sister. I won’t demand your life, but you need to kneel, apologize, and swear never to harass Yang Xiaoqi again—or I’ll cripple you,” Qin Nan said firmly.
“You’ve got guts to say that! Think you can make me kneel?” He Qing snarled, his anger flaring.
“Do I need to prove it again? Haven’t you already learned what happens when you cross me?” Qin Nan retorted, his tone mocking.
At that, He Qing’s face darkened. He indeed had a history with Qin Nan—one that didn’t end well for him.
Not long after Qin Nan recovered memories of his past life and became the village’s new physician, He Qing had attempted to extort him, thinking the profitable new healer was easy prey.
He Qing’s arrogance had earned him a severe beating. But Qin Nan kept the incident private, finding no satisfaction in boasting.
Of course, He Qing had no intention of advertising his humiliating defeat either.
He Qing’s expression immediately turned ugly; he knew it all too well.
In fact, He Qing had been beaten by Qin Nan before, but this was something no one else knew.
Qin Nan wasn’t the type to boast about it, and He Qing certainly wouldn’t make a fool of himself by bringing it up.
When Qin Nan first regained his memories of his past life and had just become the little miracle doctor in Niujiao Village, He Qing had sought him out, trying to extort money from him.
At that time, Qin Nan had become the village doctor, treating people daily and earning a bit of money, which He Qing had set his sights on.
He Qing went to Qin Nan’s house without any pretense and directly made his intentions clear: if Qin Nan didn’t give him money, he’d never be able to continue treating patients.
He Qing, in his usual bully-like manner, acted shamelessly, thinking, “What can you do about it? Bite me?”
As a result, He Qing was quickly pinned to the ground and beaten up by Qin Nan.
