HunterxHunter: I Became Stronger After Death

Chapter 35: The Tiger of the Twelve Zodiac Branches

The world within this map consisted of six continents.

Although there were hundreds of countries, only five truly represented these six continents. These were:

Ochema Federation

Begrosse Union

United States of Sahelta

Minbo Republic

Guganyu Kingdom, the nation Moro was heading to.

These five global powers were collectively referred to as V5. They held absolute influence over international affairs and dictated the direction of global policies.

Even the world's strongest Nen users, no matter how powerful, were akin to the moon compared to the stars, or ants before elephants when measured against the might of these great nations.

The differences between these powers were clear even from their names. The first four nations had embraced democracy, while Guganyu Kingdom continued to maintain a monarchy.

For Moro, this gave Guganyu a mystical and somewhat archaic charm, distinct from modern societies. But more accurately, the world of Hunter x Hunter itself housed a peculiar, fantastical worldview.

In this world, you could see skyscrapers born of industrial civilization alongside ancient, rustic villages in harmony with nature.

You could encounter soldiers wielding advanced firearms and knights adorned with swords, shields, and heavy armor.

Modernity and antiquity coexisted seamlessly.

There were airships carving paths through the skies and endless mystical domains and secret realms.

Even more surreal was the existence of the legendary assassin family, Zoldyck, who operated as a legitimate, tax-paying business.

Simply put—

Anything you considered fantastical or bizarre could exist as normal in this world.

Thus, when Moro flipped through a tourist brochure about Guganyu Kingdom at the airport and read that members of the royal family could execute civilians on the spot for "various blasphemous acts," he wasn't even surprised.

Closing the brochure, he decided to pocket it instead of returning it to the rack, planning to read it during the airship ride.

As a Nen user, Moro was practically superhuman by ordinary standards. However, even he was just a speck of dust before a world power, which meant he had to abide by their systems and rules.

This reality applied even to famed Nen masters like Netero.

Of course, the Phantom Troupe was an exception.

This group dared to strip the once-proud nation of Navis of its last shred of dignity by looting its national treasury. To them, laws and systems were nothing but ornaments.

For outsiders, the Phantom Troupe's audacious behavior was incomprehensible. Yet this S-Class criminal group persisted, defying logic.

Was their survival a miracle, luck, or sheer skill? No one could say for certain.

What was certain was this:

The criminals of Meteor City frequently occupied a place in global headlines, drawing attention and fostering a sense of reverence for their enigmatic origins.

Ten minutes later, Moro boarded the airship.

This luxury civilian airship was larger than standard models, featuring two levels.

The design revolved around a circular layout:

At the center were passenger rooms and shared facilities like restaurants and bars. Surrounding this was a hallway lined with observation windows. The outermost layer contained several open-air viewing platforms.

The VIP cabins and cockpit were located on the upper deck, offering superior privacy and spaciousness, albeit at a hefty price.

Moro reserved three adjacent VIP cabins. After boarding, he planned to head directly to his room and stay there until reaching his destination.

At this time, passengers were still boarding, and the first-floor common areas were lively.

Dressed in all black, Moro chose not to jostle with the crowd, instead standing unobtrusively in a corner, waiting for the throng to disperse.

While waiting, his gaze habitually scanned the crowd—until it paused at the back of the boarding queue.

There stood three individuals.

The one in the middle wore loose clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and a mask, making it hard to discern her features, but she appeared to be a woman.

To her sides were two escorts:

One was tall and muscular, at least two meters tall, clad in a black suit with a bodyguard vibe. Her coarse features and braided hair revealed she was a woman. The other, smaller in stature, sported black-and-yellow spiky hair tied into a tiger-tail braid. Dressed in a tracksuit of matching colors, his most striking feature was the large 寅 (Tiger) symbol on his shoulder.

The two bodyguards' positioning clearly signified their role in protecting the heavily disguised woman.

Moro's attention wasn't drawn to the woman's unusual attire but rather to the spiky-haired man.

"The Tiger of the Twelve Zodiac Branches…"

From the man's distinctive appearance and attire, Moro immediately identified him as Kanzai, a treasure hunter and bodyguard by profession.

Kanzai must have accepted a bodyguard commission, Moro mused, glancing briefly at the woman before withdrawing his gaze.

Even though Moro's glance lasted less than two seconds and passed through the bustling crowd, Kanzai still noticed.

His eyes locked onto Moro, scrutinizing the corner where he stood. Kanzai's focus lingered on the faint wisp of energy naturally emanating from Moro, identical to the other passengers.

"He's a Nen user…"

Despite Moro's efforts to blend in, Kanzai's keen observational skills saw through the disguise with ease. As a professional bodyguard and treasure hunter, his ability to discern people was unmatched.

The other Twelve Zodiac members might mock Kanzai's lack of cultural sophistication, but none doubted his talent for identifying threats.

Kanzai deduced that Moro's glance carried no hostility, only curiosity. Still, he mentally added Moro to his watchlist.

"Is that guy a problem?" asked the burly female bodyguard, lowering her voice through an earpiece. Though she hadn't detected Moro's Nen abilities, she trusted Kanzai's judgment.

"We'll discuss it in the cabin," Kanzai replied, his vigilant gaze sweeping the area.

Out of all the passengers, he identified Moro as the sole Nen user, though he remained open to the possibility of hidden threats.

Unbeknownst to Kanzai, his suspicions were well-founded.

Within the shadows cast by certain passengers… lurked movements invisible to the naked eye.
