Chapter 117: HHES: Chapter 117
The sight that greeted Kurapika caused his expression to harden instantly.
The surrounding buildings bore numerous signs of destruction; bodies were embedded in the walls, still bleeding.
"Kurapika, this..." Basho began, his voice laced with apprehension.
Kurapika, his face grim, didn't look back. He gazed towards a building in the center of the devastation, his voice devoid of emotion as he uttered two words, "Let's go."
The dimly lit corridor was awash with blood. Stepping over bodies strewn across the stairs, Kurapika and Basho slowly made their way upwards.
On the fifth floor, Loki, seated on the stairs with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them, sensing Kurapika's arrival.
He found himself in a difficult position. He didn't want to face Kurapika now. He knew Kurapika's intention: to convince him to rescue Gon and Killua.
But Loki didn't consider himself their babysitter; why should he save them? Meeting Kurapika now would be far from ideal.
"Goki!" Loki called out.
Boom! Goki materialized. Loki raised a hand. "Get rid of those two."
Goki, towering behind Loki, strode forward, his heavy footsteps echoing through the building.
Pakunoda leaned out, looking at Loki. "What is it? More enemies?"
"No. Just two people I don't want to see."
After a brief, furtive glance at Loki, Pakunoda lowered her head, seemingly losing interest in the unfolding situation.
Kurapika and Basho, having just reached the second floor, abruptly halted their ascent. Basho, momentarily confused by Kurapika's sudden stop, questioned his companion.
Boom! With a resounding crash, Goki smashed through the floor of the third story, landing directly in front of Kurapika and Basho.
The instant Goki appeared, Kurapika assumed a combat stance, his body tensed and ready for action. Basho positioned himself beside Kurapika, his own senses heightened. Goki's gaze locked onto the two.
As the dust settled, the two saw Goki.
Kurapika spoke, his voice barely a whisper, "Loki's Nen Beast!"
Basho was taken aback. Kurapika, having identified Goki, prepared to retract his chains, but he noticed something unusual about Goki's demeanor.
Goki suddenly lunged forward, his massive hands outstretched, aiming to seize the two.
"Why the sudden attack? Isn't this Loki's Nen Beast?" Basho exclaimed, his voice laced with confusion and alarm.
Before Basho could react, Goki's massive hand grasped him, lifting him effortlessly into the air as if he were a mere lamb.
Suddenly, a chain appeared before Goki. With a swift, precise movement, Kurapika deftly evaded Goki's grasp, then swung his chain, striking Goki squarely in the eye.
Goki released Basho, staggering back before regaining his balance. His gaze, now fixed intently on Kurapika, held a chilling intensity.
Basho, having been released from Goki's grip, scrambled to his feet, his voice filled with bewilderment. "What's going on? Isn't that Loki's Nen Beast? Why's it attacking us?"
Kurapika frowned, his expression unreadable. "It's not attacking; it's trying to capture us."
"Capture us? Why would it want to capture us?" Basho pressed, his voice laced with confusion.
"I don't know," Kurapika responded curtly, his voice devoid of any warmth. "But prepare for combat. Loki's Nen Beast is not to be underestimated."
Basho clenched his fists, rotating his wrists to loosen his joints.
"Then let's fight! Loki's strong, but I'm confident I can handle his Nen Beast," Basho declared confidently, launching himself towards Goki with a powerful surge of energy. Raising his arm, he coiled his fist, preparing to unleash a devastating blow.
As he closed the distance, Basho unleashed a powerful punch aimed directly at Goki's massive form.
"Take this, Basho's mighty fist!" Basho roared, his voice echoing through the corridor.
Boom! Basho's Nen-imbued fist connected squarely with Goki's body. A triumphant grin spread across Basho's face. "Heh, I think that should do it!" he exclaimed, his confidence brimming.
"Idiot," Kurapika muttered under his breath, his voice laced with exasperation.
At that very moment, Basho realized something was amiss. Despite the clear impact of his attack, Goki remained completely unmoved. He looked up to see Goki blocking his attack with a single arm.
"No way! That was my full-powered attack! I can't even take down a Nen Beast?!" Basho exclaimed, his voice laced with disbelief and a hint of panic.
Dong! Before Basho could fully process the situation, Goki unleashed a devastating counterattack, sending Basho flying backwards through the air with a thunderous impact. Basho felt as if every bone in his body had been shattered.
Having dispatched Basho with a single blow, Goki wasted no time in turning his attention towards Kurapika, launching himself forward with unrestrained aggression.
Dong dong dong! Goki charged towards Kurapika with incredible speed, his massive form a blur of motion.
Boom! Kurapika reacted instantly, leaping high into the air as Goki's body smashed into the wall behind him, creating a gaping hole in the structure.
As Kurapika landed gracefully on the ground, his chains already extending towards Goki, he swiftly scaled Goki's massive form, his chains wrapping tightly around the Nen Beast's body.
'Trying to get rid of me with your Nen Beast, Loki?' Kurapika mused, his mind racing to decipher Loki's intentions.
From Goki's earlier attack on Basho, Kurapika had observed that the Nen Beast didn't seem intent on killing them. However, this knowledge only served to intensify Kurapika's anger.
'Why doesn't he want to see me? Loki, what are you doing?' Kurapika thought, his gaze sweeping across the scene of carnage before him.
The pungent smell of blood, the countless corpses scattered across the floor—all undeniable evidence of Loki's handiwork. But why? Why had things turned out this way?
Suddenly, Goki yanked violently on the chains, flinging Kurapika high into the air. Kurapika instantly realized the gravity of the situation. Goki's strength far exceeded his expectations, easily breaking free of the chains.
With the chains severed, Goki launched himself into the air, seizing Kurapika in his grasp and hurling him forcefully towards the exterior of the building.
Swish! As Kurapika was propelled through the air, his body rotating wildly, he instinctively extended his chains, desperately attempting to ensnare Goki's arm.
'Trying to throw me out, huh? Not so fast!' Kurapika thought, his Nen surging through him. His body, which had been hurtling uncontrollably through the air, abruptly came to a halt, before beginning its descent towards the ground.
Thud! Kurapika landed heavily on the ground, the impact jarring his entire body. Simultaneously, Goki landed with a similar resounding thud.
Basho, having finally recovered from his earlier encounter with Goki, scrambled to his feet, clutching his throbbing right cheek.
"Damn it," he muttered through gritted teeth, "that Nen Beast's strength is on par with a top-tier Enhancement-type Nen user!"
Boom! A violent collision sent a powerful shockwave through the air. At the entrance to the construction site, in the wide open space, Kurapika and Goki engaged in a fierce, brutal battle.
Goki's speed, while considerable, was relatively slow compared to Kurapika's agility. However, Goki's exceptional defensive capabilities left Kurapika deeply impressed.
Despite repeatedly striking Goki with his chains, Kurapika could only manage to force the Nen Beast to retreat; he was unable to inflict any significant damage.
Boom boom! Kurapika deftly dodged Goki's attacks, his chains whipping out to strike Goki's head, forcing the Nen Beast to recoil.
"Strange," Kurapika muttered, his brow furrowed in concentration. After launching a series of consecutive attacks, Kurapika had begun to notice a peculiar pattern.
Goki's defensive capabilities appeared to be exceptionally robust, almost exceeding the realm of possibility.
Despite having been struck numerous times, Goki had sustained no visible injuries, his only response being a tactical retreat.
