Human? Pokémon? Why Not Both?

Chapter 22: 22: Pewter City

Although Ryn won this battle, he also recognized his own shortcomings.

In this world, human potential is highly valued, and people like Bruno can fight Pokémon back and forth.

There are even exceptionally powerful individuals like ash.

Therefore, if Ryn is willing to invest time in training, his mental agility, visual and speaking speed can all be improved.

"It seems that once we arrive at the next city, I should purchase some training equipment."

Before focusing on these abilities, Ryn still believes that having a strong physique is the most important factor.

A good physique ensures a certain upper limit.

Of course, a good physique also has its advantages during intimate moments.

First, it enhances endurance, and second, it unlocks more advanced positions and techniques.

However, since there is still a long journey ahead before reaching Pewter City, Ryn decided to first establish a training regimen to improve his eye coordination and mental reaction speed.

"Meowscarada, all you need to do is remember to occasionally hit me with a flower bud. Oh, and make sure it's unexpected."

"Meow…"

Meowscarada was a bit reluctant. Although the flower bud was soft and harmless, in her view, it was still a form of attack on Ryn.

So she felt quite conflicted about it.

Because she loved Ryn deeply, she had gone to such lengths and reached this level of strength solely to protect him.

Upon hearing Ryn's plan, Misty, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"Ryn, aren't you essentially treating yourself like a Pokémon to train?"

Ryn nodded and smiled, "Exactly. It's precisely because of this that the feedback from training can help me grow stronger quickly. I want to enjoy Pokémon battles, so if enduring some hardship can bring rewards, it's all worth it."

"Sigh, there's just no helping you." Misty looked at the conflicted Meowscarada and said, "Meowscarada, let me take on this task instead. I know you can't bring yourself to harm your own trainer, so I'll be the 'bad guy' this time."

"Meow."

Meowscarada looked at Misty, then nodded slightly. It then made a bunch of flower buds out of thin air and handed them to Misty.

Having someone else take over was a good thing, as Meowscarada simply couldn't bring itself to harm Ryn.

Meowscarada also approved of the young girl Ryn had chosen.

Misty took the flower bud from Meowscarada and suddenly threw one at Ryn.

Seeing this, Ryn had no time to react and was hit square in the face by the flower bud.

"I didn't say start yet!"

"But didn't you say it should be a surprise attack?" Misty smiled mischievously and was about to throw another one.

Ryn opened his mouth but couldn't say Misty.

Because that was indeed what he had said.

Misty's surprise attack was exactly the kind of training he wanted.

"Char."

On the way to Pewter City, Misty would occasionally sneak-attack Ryn.

At first, Ryn couldn't react.

After being hit about 200 times, he finally managed to react and dodge.

However, after that, Misty's arms grew tired first.

"My arms are so sore, I can't throw anymore." Misty let her arms hang limply, her face showing signs of exhaustion.

This feeling was just like when she was a child practicing throwing Poké Balls.

"Since that's the case, then Charmander, you take over."

"Char char?"

Charmander froze completely, pointing at itself in disbelief, unsure whether to take the flower bud from Misty's hand.

Seeing Charmander's troubled expression, Misty spoke up for him: "Alright, Ryn, I think the reaction training should be enough for now. Training for too long might backfire. This is what you told me during dinner, right?"

During meals, Ryn and Misty would always find topics to discuss.

One of those topics was about training Pokémon.

At the time, Ryn had mentioned that training Pokémon should not be rushed but should be done gradually.

Rushing it might backfire, potentially overtaxing the Pokémon's potential and leaving hidden injuries.

After Misty said this, Ryn paused for a moment before realizing she was right.

During the training session earlier, Ryn had completely lost track of time.

It wasn't until Misty mentioned it that he realized over two hundred sessions had passed, and a significant amount of time had elapsed.

After a brief pause, Ryn felt a mild ache throughout his body, clearly the result of overexertion.

He took a deep breath and nodded slightly. "You're right. In that case, let's head to Pewter City as soon as possible."

Over the next three days, after assigning training tasks to Scyther and Charmander in the morning, Ryn began his own training.

By his side was Meowscarada, and of course, Misty.

Every day during those three days, Ryn trained until he was completely exhausted before stopping.

Although he had to play with Meowscarada and Charmander every night,

Ryn could feel that his physical recovery had improved slightly.

Even after playing with Meowscarada and Charmander at night, he was still full of energy the next day.

This couldn't help but make Ryn marvel at the incredible physical potential of the people in this world.

Of course, part of the reason was also due to Ryn's superior genes.

His father was a capable trainer, and though his mother was a coordinator, her combat prowess was no weaker than his father's.

Though Ryn didn't have the protagonist's destiny like Ash to become a super rookie,

He believed that through his own efforts, he could still rely on his natural talent to carve out a path as the protagonist.

It was now the fourth day, but fortunately, they had finally arrived in Pewter City.

Upon arriving in the city, Ryn put away his Charmander and Scyther. As for Meowscarada, it was mainly because Ryn had grown accustomed to having it by his side at all times.

It was like how Ash had gotten used to Pikachu always being outside.

"Misty, I plan to buy some ingredients, exercise equipment, and a tent. Do you want to come with me?"

Upon hearing this, Misty shook her head. "I'll join you in the next city. I want to see if there are any new clothes, and also buy a couple of pajamas and some extra clothes, plus some skincare products."

Upon hearing this, Ryn understood a girl's love for beauty and nodded slightly. "Alright, then we'll meet at the Pewter Gym in the afternoon."

"Okay!"

After parting ways with Misty, Ryn found the supermarket in Pewter City.

The exterior of the supermarket in Pewter City resembled a massive rock. The city was named Pewter precisely because it was famous for its stones.

Pewter was the color of the stones.

Upon entering the supermarket, Ryn had a clear objective: he went to the travel section and purchased an extra-large tent. The tent was, of course, a product of the Devon Corporation.

After purchasing the tent, Ryn then bought food supplies and exercise equipment.

After purchasing these essentials, Ryn happened to pass by a stone stall.

Just as Ryn was about to walk past the stall, Meowscarada suddenly grabbed his hand.

It was clear that Meowscarada had made a discovery.
