Chapter 35: Time to Roll

"That will be all for today," the half-goblin with glasses announced, snapping the Charms textbook shut with a soft thud. "Class dismissed."

The usual rustle of parchment and chairs followed. Professor Flitwick clapped his hands together, eyes gleaming behind his spectacles.

"I hope you all enjoy your Christmas holidays!"

"You too, Professor!" came the chorus, mostly from Ravenclaws, with a few Slytherins joining in just to be polite.

Students filed out in a wave of chatter and fluttering scarves. A blur of laughter, parchment rolls, and plans for the train ride home.

But not everyone looked eager.

Draco lingered behind, pulling on his gloves with deliberate slowness.

"Do I really have to go?" he muttered under his breath as he stepped into the hallway.

Winter break.

Like every year, Hogwarts was closing for nearly two weeks. Just long enough for students to visit home, exchange meaningless gifts, tolerate awkward family dinners, and return pretending they'd missed the castle.

Some stayed behind. Fewer rules. No classes. A quiet castle all to yourself.

And if it were up to him, Draco would have stayed. No question.

But it wasn't.

Staying at school without a good excuse would raise suspicions. Especially from them.

Lucius would ask why. Narcissa would ask differently, but more dangerously. And neither of them missed anything.

At first, he'd told himself he didn't care. That it didn't matter. That he could handle it.

But now that the time had actually come?

His thoughts were spiraling.

How the hell am I supposed to face Draco's parents?

His footsteps echoed down the empty corridor, but his mind was racing ahead.

They'll notice something. The way I talk. The way I hold my wand. The books I'm reading. The questions I don't ask. The ones I do.

What if they already suspect? What if they say something and I react wrong? What if—

Forget it.

Draco clicked his tongue, annoyed with himself.

I'll deal with it later.

One crisis at a time.

Right now, there was something else on his mind.

Passing through the common room without a word, he made his way straight to his dorm.

He shut the door behind him, kicked off his shoes, and collapsed onto the bed.

Sprawled out on green silk sheets, he stared at the ceiling for a long moment.

"Right," he muttered, sitting up. "Let's just do the spin."

It had been two months since his last one, the time he'd drawn the Ice Mage template.

At first, he'd been tempted to keep spinning, collecting more powers just because he could. But after the whole mess with Jorah and how chaotic that world turned out to be, he'd come to a simple conclusion: there's no point collecting power if you can't use it properly.

Yes, he probably could have made it out unscathed, even if the Dothraki had joined the attack. But it wouldn't have been easy, not without risks.

So, he took a break.

No new spins. No shortcuts from the system. Just training.

For the past two months, he'd actually been putting in the work. Hunting Acromantulas in the Forbidden Forest to gather materials and push his limits. Spending hours alone in the Room of Requirement, sharpening his control over his Ice Mage abilities and refining spellwork.

He hadn't even returned to Daenerys' world, not because he was avoiding it, but because he didn't want the distraction.

If he was being honest with himself, he'd started to feel like he was relying too much on the Gacha system.

Sure, it gave him good things. Useful things. But depending on it too much would only hold him back. If he always waited for the next upgrade, he'd stop pushing himself.

Power wasn't just about flashy abilities or rare templates.

It was about knowledge, control, experience.

And if he wanted to survive whatever came next, he'd need all three.

Still, two months was a good break.

He'd improved. He was sharper, more focused.

[POINTS: 60]

"Twenty cards," he muttered, using the points.

The Gacha spun to life, and cards began to materialize one by one.

"Let's see what my luck looks like today."

1. Susan Storm's Panties (Marvel Comics)

(Warm and sweaty. Stolen by a cheap wizard.)

"..."

It seems my luck is going quite well.

Still, I should probably check, just in case it's some kind of secret invention by Reed.

Black. Very sexy. And, yep, definitely warm.

Should I smell it? Just to make sure it's really got some hidden tech or something?

Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.

The whispers grew louder as I brought it closer.

"...Forget it."

Now it just feels really creepy.

Still, I'm definitely putting it in my private collection.

2. Summon – Ifrit (Skeleton Knight in Another World)

Interesting pull.

It's a one-time summon, lasting fifteen minutes. Not bad for emergencies.

Ifrit is a large fire demon, strong, durable, and built like a tank. Perfect for crowd control or taking down something massive. Maybe even someone like Him.

3. Omniverse Travel – The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Nice. That opens up some possibilities.

I'm definitely going to grab the spellbook, the magic rings, and any other useful enchanted items I can get my hands on from that world.

Still, I'd better prepare properly before heading there. It could be a lot more dangerous than it looks. I decided to travel after the holidays. Who knows what kind of magical threats exist in that version?

It's a pity I don't have a new slot available in the Anchorbind Gate right now. Otherwise, I would have marked it immediately.

Still, maybe there's a Gate Expansion Card in the rest of this batch.

Let's check.
