When Xia Chen heard Mobius's inquiry, he froze for a moment, his thoughts descending into chaos.

"Mobius, you mean to say the foundation of Stigmata is based on me?"

The scientist before him didn't seem to be joking, but Xia Chen desperately hoped it was merely a jest.

If what Mobius said were true, it would imply that the simulated scenarios involving past events weren't mere possibilities, but actual occurrences from the past.

But the past cannot be altered...

Either the 'past' is incorrect, or 'destiny' itself is flawed.

Regardless of which one, it signifies a breach in the rules governing reality.

If the world's fundamental laws are flawed, it could lead to its collapse. This explains why Otto had to pay such a horrific price to alter even a single possibility in the past.

Mobius's words unequivocally stated a fact:

He was a bug.

"What's wrong, little lab rat?"

In this isolated room, Mobius looked at Xia Chen. "Back on my operating table, you never seemed so fearful."

Xia Chen's eyes narrowed slightly, suddenly realizing an important question.

"I want to know, after being on your surgery table, what happened to me?"

If his return to the past is indeed true, then there should have been a trajectory of growth for someone named 'Xia Chen' in that timeline.

However, Mobius responded bluntly, "You disappeared."

"Disappeared?"

"Yes, just like a quantum particle, vanished without a trace." A hint of danger flickered in Mobius's gaze. "Most people wouldn't even know about you or have forgotten entirely. Some force akin to a rule erased you from the concept of time. But I am different."

"A serpent never forgets the scent of its prey."

From Mobius's words, Xia Chen understood that some power had wiped away his past, while she managed to evade it.

"Nevertheless, despite remembering you, your identity and powers remain chaotic - something you're more aware of than I am."

Mobius showed no concern about Xia Chen knowing this and directly stated her conclusion: "The rules of time have no effect on you. Perhaps in the next second, you'll return to the past and become my experimental subject once again."

"Now, little lab rat, it's your turn to answer my question. What is the chaotic principle within you?"

Xia Chen paused before responding, "I can't really describe it."

He couldn't reveal the existence of the system under any circumstances.

Even if Mobius would keep it secret, disclosing such information would unnecessarily increase his personal risk.

"I thought it was a dream, where I could relive the past." He hesitated briefly and then continued, "Despite experiencing long periods of time, upon waking up, only a short span had passed in reality."

"Time chaos, space chaos, memory chaos." He shared with Mobius the consequences of using the simulator, but framed them as effects of a dream for plausible deniability.

If Mobius knew what was happening, it would undoubtedly be ideal.

Unfortunately, Mobius did not have clear knowledge of the situation.

Or rather, she had a suspicion.

"Little lab rat, shall we conduct an experiment?" The girl, clad in a white lab coat, displayed a dangerous smile. "I suspect this isn't the first time such occurrences happen to you. So let me observe closely."

"What do you mean by 'observe'?"

"You mentioned earlier that each return to the past feels like entering a dream realm, right." Mobius paused before continuing, "Little lab rat, then tonight we can rest together."

Mobius was a mad scientist.

As long as her curiosity was satisfied, she didn't mind paying any price for it, even if it meant compromising her so-called chastity. In fact, the concept of chastity held no significance for her anymore.

Xia Chen felt somewhat hesitant.

It wasn't that he felt shy or harbored any desires towards Mobius; rather, he was concerned that while asleep, Mobius might take liberties with him.

These liberties were meant literally, considering he needed to be observed.

However, gaining a thorough understanding of the simulator indeed required the insights of others. Xia Chen had made numerous conjectures, but without proof, they remained mere speculations.

Xia Chen wasn't particularly fixated on uncovering the truth. But once he realized that his simulated past also represented genuine experiences in this world, the pursuit of truth became significantly important.

He agreed.

Before doing so, though, he couldn't resist asking, "What about Fu Hua's experiment?"

"It won't progress quickly, but with Elysia around, the preliminary preparations for the experiment should be fine." Mobius pursed her lips. "I despise that woman, but I must admit, she can be quite useful at times."

Xia Chen silently mourned for the Herrscher of Sentience for a brief moment.

Xia Chen didn't expect that Mobius' phrase "sharing a room" would be taken quite literally.

At present, the young girl was seated on the table, seemingly observing something without paying any attention to Xia Chen lying on the bed.

According to Mobius, this seemingly ordinary room is actually a computation within a massive supercomputer. The Elysium's administrator, Klein, records all data from Xia Chen, capturing the energy whenever he travels through time, whether past or future.

Theoretically, there was no need for them to share the same room.

However, Mobius had her own ongoing research, such as investigating the Stigmata on Xia Chen.

How could one person possess two sets of Stigmata?

Mobius was genuinely curious.

Meanwhile, Xia Chen tried his best to treat this space as his own room, essentially gambling with the situation.

Sharing a room with Mobius posed obvious risks; Xia Chen was merely betting on his System's idle capabilities.

Yes, the simulator could indeed run in idle mode.

Although he had never used it before, during his simulations, the system could initiate simple emergency responses autonomously.

Xia Chen began entering the simulator.

In that precise moment, his body data were captured.

Instantaneously, Klein, the administrator of the Elysian Realm, informed Mobius, "Detected unique quantum energy."

Mobius couldn't help but gaze at Xia Chen's sleeping form.

"Entering quantum superposition state at any moment, just as I suspected," Mobius murmured to himself.

Quantum superposition refers to multiple versions of a person's past, present, or future existing simultaneously on the same timeline. This is the essence of quantum superposition.

However, such phenomena do not occur in the intrinsic world, as its time progression is orderly and linear.

Consequently, when Xia Chen's quantum superposed counterparts appear, they manifest either in the corresponding past or future timelines.

This explains the true reason behind the simulator placing Xia Chen across various points in time, and why there was no recorded life trajectory for someone named 'Xia Chen' in the past.

The superposition state inherently fluctuates intermittently.
