In Europe, Paris.
Ana was taking her team out for some relaxation.
As a wealthy individual, she booked an entire hotel and provided each member with a €100,000 shopping allowance to unwind at their leisure. This straightforward approach, typical of the rich, saved Ana both time and effort.
However, observing Wendy, Ana couldn't help feeling speechless.
Even while at the hotel, Wendy kept asking about nearby gyms. To address this, Ana gently pulled her aside.
"Alright, let's not put too much pressure on the team when we're supposed to be relaxing."
Using her teammates as leverage, she reasoned, "If you spend all day at the gym, they'll feel uncomfortable enjoying themselves. What's the point of team bonding then?"
Wendy eventually yielded to Ana's reasoning.
With her high emotional intelligence, she understood what Ana meant. During their break, leading by example with excessive training could alienate the team members.
However, just as they were about to relax, Ana received a special mission:
"Coral Island has suffered a Honkai outbreak. The Snow Lotus Squad's vacation is temporarily canceled; proceed for immediate rescue operations."
Ana's face paled involuntarily.
Meanwhile, at Anti-Entropy's Eye of the Abyss base...
Cocolia, still reeling from dealing with the infected Titan, looked grim-faced. She couldn't comprehend why her Titan had been compromised by a virus and instinctively blamed it on Anti-Entropy's two doctors due to her limited knowledge.
After all, Tesla was responsible for Titan production, possibly leaving vulnerabilities open for such attacks.
If not for having backup measures, she would have become a laughingstock within Anti-Entropy.
Just as she planned to strike against the Salt Lake Base, news of Theresa announcing Schicksal's withdrawal left Cocolia uncertain.
She began calculating if there might be greater benefits to consider.
Unlike Nagazora City's Honkai event, Coral Island's outbreak subsided after several intense days, with the concentration of Honkai Energy decreasing to manageable levels.
At least, communication between Xia Chen and Schicksal quickly became smooth again.
Of course, the primary reason was that he and Kiana absorbed most of the Honkai Energy present.
This catastrophe birthed two Herrschers—an extraordinary occurrence, but now was not the time for astonishment. Both Schicksal and Xia Chen found themselves in a challenging predicament.
Otto might accept Herrschers, but how could they persuade the Valkyries?
Xia Chen awaited Otto's response on Coral Island. With Sirin's permission, he had gained partial control over spatial Authorities, allowing him to escape if necessary. However, he didn't wish to leave Schicksal just yet.
After all, there were no better options available at this moment.
Fortunately for Xia Chen, as of now, Schicksal held considerable goodwill towards him.
"The Snow Lotus Squad will arrive at Coral Island today to assist you in the relief efforts following the Honkai outbreak."
The news from Amber provided Xia Chen with some reassurance.
If Schicksal truly intended to confront him, they would have sent Durandal instead of Ana.
However, Xia Chen couldn't help but feel troubled about how to face Ana.
Having grown up within Schicksal, Ana undoubtedly harbored deep animosity towards Honkai. He doubted that their shared experiences in the simulation scenario would make her lenient towards his current status as a Herrscher.
Love isn't everything, especially when it conflicts with one's beliefs.
Despite this, Ana's arrival still brought relief to Xia Chen.
At least, it showed Schicksal's goodwill towards him.
Otto may be cunning and deceitful, but he has always displayed a commendable temperament. Moreover, for now, Otto's focus is not on Xia Chen.
When Ana, Wendy, and their team arrived at Coral Island, they were greeted by the sight of a city reduced to rubble.
Once hailed as the Pearl of the 21st Century due to the Stairway to Galaxy Project, the pearl now lay shattered.
The four team members, who had never witnessed such devastation before, stared in horror at the scene unfolding before them.
Ana gazed upon Coral Island with a sense of bewilderment.
In her dreams, Coral Island transformed into a frozen city covered in ice. Yet now, it was peaceful under clear skies, devoid of any snow or frost. Could she consider her past dreams mere illusions?
Or perhaps, were those dreams true, but the course of fate has been altered?
Ana had numerous questions she wanted to ask Xia Chen.
"Wendy, lead the team on search and rescue missions. Stay together; there may still be powerful enemies lurking on Coral Island."
Ana emphasized the importance of not splitting up.
Though slightly puzzled, Wendy nodded, "No problem. What about you?"
"I'm going to find Xia Chen." She paused briefly, then added, "I can't shake this feeling of unease about him."
With a hint of apology, Ana smiled at Wendy, "Consider me somewhat selfish, Wendy. Thank you for understanding."
"It's alright," Wendy shook her head. "Just be careful yourself."
"Don't worry, no matter what, I'm still an A-rank Valkyrie."
Although she hadn't yet reached S-rank during this period, it didn't mean she had made no progress. However, compared to Wendy, her advancements seemed somewhat insignificant.
After entrusting Wendy with the others, Ana began searching for Xia Chen's whereabouts.
Eventually, she found him at the control center overseeing the Galactic Ladder project.
At that moment, Xia Chen was hesitating over how to face Ana. The House of Schariac had been instilled with hatred towards Honkai from a young age, and Cecilia herself died due to Honkai's influence.
Despite Otto being the true mastermind, nobody knew of his involvement.
Thus, finding a way for Ana to accept him would be a significant test of his wisdom.
Xia Chen pondered various phrases, ranging from romantic sweet nothings to solemn pledges reminiscent of ancient oaths, even considering using examples from Anti-Entropy's Alliance Leader.
However, upon seeing the tearful Ana, he realized he couldn't utter any of the words he had prepared.
"You fool." Ana immediately embraced him tightly. "Why did you bear my share of pain?"
Xia Chen's body stiffened involuntarily, "So you know everything now?"
"Idiot, your actions were so obvious; how could I not know?" Ana bit him angrily.
The expected collapse of Coral Island confirmed that her dream was not merely a fantasy. It was Xia Chen who had shielded her, diverting the calamity meant for her away.
Her anger quickly subsided as Xia Chen gently wiped away her tears with his hand.
"It's alright," he reassured her. "My body is somewhat unique; what may cause pain to others doesn't affect me the same way. Being tainted by a Herrscher's power doesn't mean I've become a mindless monster. On the contrary, I intend to use this strength against Honkai."
Taking a deep breath, Xia Chen continued, "In fact, my concern lies more with you..."
Ana interrupted him by placing her hand over his mouth. "Don't say such things anymore," she said firmly. "Fighting Honkai isn't just your responsibility alone. I will strive to assist you too."
"And regardless of whether you're a Herrscher or not, my heart belongs to you."
"Even if that stubborn old man opposes it, I'll wear him down until he agrees to our marriage, but...not before I turn twenty."
After speaking these words, Ana's cheeks flushed crimson.
