Japanese actors have Columbia Pictures behind them, and Australian actors have Rupert Murdoch and 20th Century Fox. Even Mexican actors have their immigrant communities for support. But Chinese have no solid footing or connections.

With the box office subsidy system in place, there was little chance of losing money on his projects.
