Chapter 54: Chapter 55: A New Body Flicker Technique
Shisui wiped the sweat from his forehead and leaned against a large tree to rest.
Might Guy and Obito had also finished their training and were about to begin their battle over the number of tasks they had to complete.
"Today is the time to unleash our youth," Might Guy said seriously, his muscles tense and ready to strike.
In fact, Might Guy had more pressure than Obito. From the start, Might Guy had a debt of fifty tasks hanging over him, and he had to keep hitting Obito in order to reduce it.
"I can't let it exceed thirty, or there won't be any time tomorrow night," Obito took a deep breath, his eyes filled with both the desire to win and the fear of more tasks. He still wanted to spend time with Rin over the weekend, and he couldn't afford to accumulate too many tasks.
"Let's start," Mugetsu called out.
As soon as Mugetsu spoke, Might Guy dashed forward and swiftly kicked out with a rapid whirlwind kick aimed at Obito.
Obito quickly moved back, trying to avoid as much damage as possible.
After standing for a moment, Shisui sat down and watched the intense training between Obito and Might Guy, admiring the camaraderie.
"It's wonderful. They train together, pushing each other to improve while enjoying their time together," Shisui thought to himself.
Obito almost tripped in surprise after hearing Shisui's words.
If they weren't giving it their all, they'd be drowning in endless tasks, progressing alone in a harsh cycle.
If he wasn't losing the fight, Obito would have requested Mugetsu to include Shisui in the training.
Though Obito didn't fall, Might Guy seized the opportunity and landed a hit, adding a task to Obito's list.
After that hit, Obito snapped his focus back into the fight, determined to pay attention and avoid being distracted by anything else.
Five minutes later, Mugetsu announced the results of the battle.
"Obito has thirty-five tasks, Guy has fifteen."
"Thirty-five…" Obito's face twisted with frustration. That was five more than his limit, and he felt like he'd go mad doing so many tasks. How would he have time to hang out with Rin?
Might Guy's expression was also a bit pained. He'd been taking hits every day, and while Obito had made great progress, he could no longer reduce his tasks to just ten.
"It's fine. You can split them up if you can't finish today. You can take a week, doing five a day, and just add four tasks for interest," Mugetsu smiled and said.
Doing too many tasks in one day might overwhelm Obito, and he might not remember them, making it a wasted effort.
Obito was reluctant to split his tasks because originally it was just thirty-five, but splitting it would turn into thirty-nine.
However, if he didn't split them, he'd be exhausted by the end of the day and wouldn't have energy to enjoy time with Rin.
"Then, I'll split them over seven days," Obito responded weakly.
Though splitting them meant he'd end up with more tasks, it was much easier for him.
Mugetsu nodded and recorded Obito's task schedule.
Might Guy, however, refused to split his tasks. He intended to finish them all today.
Mugetsu agreed with Might Guy's approach because the task itself was a motivational tool, helping improve their theoretical scores while training.
Mugetsu was also pleased with this method. The tasks didn't necessarily have to be limited to Ninja School knowledge, and they could use this process to gain more general knowledge as well.
After Shisui finished resting, he resumed his training.
At the moment, he was focusing on learning the Body Flicker Technique and Genjutsu.
Both of these were techniques he had just started learning, but he was progressing quickly—faster even than when he first learned Fire Style techniques.
[Student Uchiha Shisui has made significant progress in training under your guidance and has received a reward: "Shunpo" (Proficient Level)].
Mugetsu paused for a moment when he saw the reward. He didn't remember a technique called "Shunpo" in the Naruto series, but he did recall it from One Piece.
After a flood of memories about the technique filled his mind, Mugetsu quickly understood what had happened.
This was the "Shunpo" from One Piece, but it had been modified by the system to fit the Naruto world. It was a Body Flicker technique that used Chakra.
Mugetsu nodded in satisfaction. If it were the One Piece version of Shunpo, his small frame might not have been able to use it. The characters in One Piece were much stronger physically.
Comparing the Body Flicker Technique he knew with Shunpo, Mugetsu decided he would now use Shunpo as his preferred method for teleportation.
He felt the ordinary Body Flicker Technique he had learned was far inferior to Shunpo.
"Shisui, I see how hard you've been working. Compared to two months ago, your strength has increased considerably. Keep training, and soon I'll teach you a stronger Body Flicker technique," Mugetsu said with a smile.
Mugetsu was in a good mood after the golden find in the mining area.
"A stronger Body Flicker technique?" Shisui's eyes brightened.
He was very interested in Body Flicker techniques and felt it suited his style of fighting perfectly.
"Yes, you'll need to focus on your physical training, though. This new technique relies on the body as well as Chakra. If your body isn't strong enough, it will put a lot of pressure on your legs," Mugetsu nodded and said.
Since it was a modification of the One Piece Shunpo, it required not only Chakra but also significant physical strength.
Mugetsu himself would also need to improve his physical training.
His Ninja Skills were already quite impressive in the early stages, and the addition of Shunpo would greatly enhance his mobility.
"Mugetsu-sensei, I think I've improved a lot as well. Could you teach it to me too?" Obito scratched his head and laughed.
He really wanted to learn the Body Flicker technique, not for fighting, but because he thought it looked cool.
If he knew the Body Flicker technique during the Ninja Tournament, he wouldn't need to walk up to the stage. He could just appear like Kakashi did.
"Of course," Mugetsu nodded.
"That's awesome! Mugetsu-sensei, you really are the best teacher in the Ninja World," Obito cheered in delight.
"Mugetsu-sensei, actually, I've made a lot of progress too," Might Guy said, hoping to learn the new technique as well.
"Sure, everyone can learn," Mugetsu said with a warm smile.
"As long as you get first place in the end-of-term exams, you'll be allowed to learn this new Body Flicker technique from me," Mugetsu added, setting a condition.
"But Guy and I are both in the fourth year. Doesn't that mean one of us won't be able to learn it?" Obito asked with a puzzled expression.
"Then take first place in the next exam or complete the Body Flicker challenge I assign. If you finish it, you can learn it as well," Mugetsu replied.
"How difficult is the challenge?" Obito cautiously asked.
"Right now, you probably wouldn't be able to keep up," Mugetsu said bluntly.
Obito fell silent. That meant the only way to learn the technique was by getting first place in the exams.
That just gave him even more reasons to aim for first place in the upcoming term.
He looked over at Might Guy, who smiled brightly and gave him a thumbs-up.
"I won't hand over first place easily. Just right—practical exams don't ban the use of Ninja techniques," Obito thought to himself, now fired up.
First, he'd defeat Might Guy, then Kakashi, and he'd become the genius Uchiha Obito.
"These are your tasks, remember to complete them well," Mugetsu said, handing Obito the test papers.
Obito's fire was extinguished the moment he saw the stack of tasks. His head instantly felt heavy.
"Here's Guy's too," Mugetsu smiled and handed Might Guy his share of the tasks.
Might Guy's smile slowly faded, and his thumb dropped.
Even the toughest man couldn't withstand this kind of hardship.
