Hogwarts: Legacy of the Necromancer

Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Lucky to Be Your Lady

Lucius Malfoy easily took control of all the office staff with a minor spell.

Under their boss's "encouragement," the employees threw themselves wholeheartedly into their work, striving to satisfy him.

As for Regulus Black's private territory, "Beheading Valley," it naturally wouldn't be used for shooting a movie. If they needed to film, they could just find a suitable location elsewhere to recreate its look.

Besides, "Beheading Valley" had already undergone a complete transformation and no longer resembled the version described in the books, making it unsuitable for filming.

"Lucie! Let's still go with Guillermo del Toro as the director. We had a great time working with him last time—he's a talented guy despite his size."

Regulus Black and Lucius Malfoy were sitting in their new office, a bottle of wine already opened on the coffee table in front of them.

"The Muggle world differs greatly from the wizarding world. Take this wine, for example. Wizards are notoriously bad at preparing gourmet food, and wine is, after all, a processed product. So, we still import wine from the Muggle world. The Malfoy family even owns a vineyard. Regulus, Miss Piddell, please have a taste!"

Lucius poured the wine into three glasses, picked up his own, and took a slow sip.

"Pre–World War I vintage, probably from Italy. Mr. Black, I'll get back to work after this drink."

Lucy Piddell identified the wine's origin in one breath, leaving Lucius Malfoy visibly impressed.

After sipping her wine in small, refined sips, Lucy stood up to leave, ready to handle the matter of contacting the director.

Regulus noticed his personal attorney clearly liked the wine, but he also knew his girlfriend wasn't a heavy drinker.

"Lucius! Would you mind sending Lucy a case of this wine?"

"Of course! That's no problem at all. It really is pre–WWI vintage. Our vineyard is in Italy," Lucius replied cheerfully.

Lucius readily agreed—both out of recognition for Lucy's refined taste and out of respect for Regulus Black. Whether he might regret the decision later was another matter entirely.

Watching Lucy Piddell leave the office in a good mood, Lucius Malfoy was suddenly struck by another thought.

"Regulus! Tell me honestly—who will be lucky enough to become your lady?"

There was a deeper meaning to Lucius's question.

To the pure-blooded wizarding families, Regulus Black's efforts to reclaim the family estate and restore its former glory from near ruin were acts of loyalty and honor. A few cases involving the family's assets were still under appeal.

As for his magical prowess—whether it was enabling witches to become pregnant on their own, allowing wizards to leave descendants, or his recent display of a mutated version of the Patronus Charm—it didn't matter whether these abilities came from the Black family heritage or Regulus's own talent. The pure-blood families deeply valued it. Once it became known that he preferred young girls, many families began encouraging their daughters to get close to the esteemed teaching assistant.

However, the one thing the pure-blood families couldn't understand was Regulus's choice in women. Whether pure-blood, half-blood, Squib, or even Muggle—it seemed Regulus only cared about beauty, never once showing concern for bloodline. This baffled them.

From a pure-blood standpoint, if Regulus wanted to revive the Black lineage, the best course would be to marry a witch from another pure-blood family and perhaps take a few half-blood mistresses—simple and perfect. But Regulus clearly intended to build a full-fledged harem, seemingly indifferent to whether the women were familiar or new.

"Draco wouldn't be a bad choice. I believe he'd make a fine lady if he turned female," Regulus said, feigning deep contemplation.

That comment nearly choked Lucius Malfoy.

"No way! Don't even think about it—I have only one son!"

Lucius was genuinely worried Regulus might concoct some spell or potion that would actually turn his only son into a daughter—effectively ending the Malfoy bloodline.

Just that one sentence was enough to shut Lucius up. Regulus curled his lips into a sly smirk.

Try playing mind games with me again, and I really will turn your son into a girl.

Marriage is such a personal matter—how could anyone tolerate outside interference, especially from powerful families? That would be going way too far!

"The wine's been enjoyed—congrats again on your new company. I still have classes at Hogwarts, so I'll take my leave."

Regulus wasn't one to overindulge. After finishing his glass, he departed without hesitation. Lucius, though still full of things to say, decided to swallow his words, haunted by the thought of his son possibly turning into a daughter.

"Boss! Here's your mail—all addressed to Black Films."

As soon as he stepped outside, Lucy Piddell handed Regulus several letters. One was from Sarah Maidani, the golden-eyed Squib girl, who said she missed him terribly. Due to communication issues, she had sent her letter to the film company.

Another letter came from Guillermo del Toro. The final visual effects for the film were done, and Regulus didn't need to do anything further. However, for promotional appearances, Lucy Piddell would coordinate dates with him.

Robert Downey Jr. also wrote, saying he'd already accepted another script after finishing the last shoot—a lead role as Charlie Chaplin. The performance went incredibly well. But now that both Crimson Peak and Chaplin were competing at various film festivals, he felt like he was battling himself—painful, yet thrilling—and proceeded to brag at length.

Jennifer Connelly and Charlize Theron sent similar letters: they missed him.

Jennifer wrote that after returning to the U.S., her clueless agent found her loads of scripts—from Broadway to TV dramas and two movie offers. The agent claimed these were all the results of his hard work. However, Jennifer found out through other channels that each script had a strange backstory—implying it was all down to luck. Just like Regulus had told them, wearing the Black family's jewelry brought good fortune—and it was becoming a pattern.

Charlize Theron, meanwhile, had given the matter even more thought.

She, too, had received numerous offers—modeling gigs, magazine covers, entertainment shows, and, of course, film roles. In her letter, she credited her performance in Crimson Peak for getting her noticed. Though she modestly believed her acting still needed work, she admitted her exceptional performance in the film owed much to the environment at the time—possibly even to Regulus Black himself, though she wasn't sure how.

Later, when she learned the jewelry brought luck, she connected the dots. Since returning to the U.S., everything had gone smoothly—too smoothly. She now believed both her acting breakthrough and recent success were thanks to Regulus.

She concluded by saying she might've found herself a truly extraordinary lover. At present, she was doing a magazine cover shoot and had received a horror movie offer—a low-budget zombie flick called Ghostbusters of Chicago 3. Since it was a sequel, the box office seemed promising.

Regulus immediately picked up a pen and wrote back to Jennifer and Charlize.

He advised them that, during this streak of good fortune, there was no need to rush into decisions. Every choice would shape their future—if they focused on movies, stage and TV roles would dwindle, and vice versa. Each path would eventually close off others.

Most importantly, luck was finite. Though the Black family jewelry did bring more good fortune, it still had limits. Once it was used up, it couldn't be replenished.

And finally, they should never feel pressured to take on roles with nudity just to advance their careers.
