Chapter 8: CH 8
"Well then, Hyoudou-kun. I'll see you on Thursday," Sona said with a faint smile as she stood at the entrance of the student council room with Jin.
Tsubaki was still inside, tidying up the cups and the chessboard from their earlier game.
Jin returned Sona's smile and replied, "Sure, Kaichou. I'm looking forward to it." He then turned and walked away, a satisfied expression on his face.
He had gotten what he wanted—an opportunity. As his wish, Jin had asked Sona to go on a date with him that Thursday. With two days until the date, he had enough time to gather some information about the student council president, such as her hobbies and interests.
Truthfully, Jin could have asked Sona to accompany him right then and there, but Tsubaki's presence had made him reconsider. It was too risky. Jin had a strong suspicion that both Shitori Sona and Shinra Tsubaki weren't ordinary humans—perhaps they were involved in the supernatural world. Whether they were magicians or something else, he couldn't be sure yet.
'She definitely has another reason for inviting me to the student council. Whatever it is, I can't shake this uneasy feeling—as if joining them would drag me into something troublesome. Something I wouldn't be able to walk away from…'
To be cautious, Jin had asked Sona for a private date, making sure to mention that he would reveal his wish during their time together. That way, she couldn't back out.
'I just hope Sona has some self-defense skills I can steal when I drink her milk. If that's the case, I'll at least have a fighting chance if I ever run into a supernatural threat. And if Issei's mysterious girlfriend really has bad intentions, I need to be prepared.'
Jin chuckled to himself as he walked down the hallway, his thoughts still lingering on Sona.
'Even if she turns out to be something like a demon or a devil, that wouldn't be so bad. If it means gaining supernatural abilities, I wouldn't mind. As long as I can survive and extend my lifespan, I'll drink as much milk as I need to.'
Shaking his head with a smirk, Jin muttered, "Well, there's no way she's a demon or a devil. If the Bible is right, they live in Hell. Anyway… time to head home."
Hyoudou Residence
When Jin arrived home, he immediately noticed an extra pair of shoes at the entrance—small, feminine shoes. Judging by their size and style, they belonged to a girl.
'Could it be… Issei's mysterious girlfriend?'
Jin's heart skipped a beat. He wasn't ready for this—if the girl really had bad intentions, he had no means of defending himself aside from using the Milking Room to trap her. But even then, he had never been in a real fight before, and the suddenness of the situation left him feeling unprepared.
'If worst comes to worst… I'll trap her in the Milking Room, drain her dry, and kill her. If dying in that room means dying in real life, that should solve the problem. But just to be safe, I should break her mind first—make sure she can't fight back when I confront her outside the room.'
Having solidified his plan, Jin took a deep breath, stepped inside, and announced his presence.
"I'm home."
After removing his shoes, he stepped into the living room and immediately noticed something unusual: his parents weren't home. Typically, they would be around at this time of day, either relaxing or chatting in the living room.
"Are they on a date?" Jin muttered, placing his bag on the couch and glancing around the room. It wasn't uncommon for his parents to go out spontaneously—especially when Issei invited his friends over.
'Issei's probably in his room with that girl…'
Normally, Jin wouldn't interfere with his brother's private life, but tonight was different. He needed to assess the situation—to confirm whether Issei's girlfriend was dangerous. If she was, Jin would confront her before she could do any harm.
'I'll bring them some refreshments. While I'm there, I'll get a read on the girl. I don't know how, but ever since I got the System, I've been able to sense something… like a sixth sense that tells me when a girl is strong—or maybe when she has milk? Either way, I can use that to judge if she's dangerous.'
Jin made his way to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of orange juice and two glasses, and placed them neatly on a wooden tray. Balancing the tray with one hand, he ascended the stairs to the second floor, where both his and Issei's rooms were located.
As he approached Issei's room—the first door on the right, directly across from his own—he paused, listening to the voices coming from inside.
"Hahaha, Yuuma-chan. Even I can act like a gentleman, you know?"
"I know that, Issei-kun. That's why I confessed to you. I can tell you're a gentleman deep down."
"Ah… Y-You're making me blush…"
Judging from their laughter, they seemed to be getting along well. Jin couldn't help but smile slightly—perhaps his brother really was capable of holding back his perverted behavior when he tried.
'Maybe all he needed was a girlfriend to set him straight… That would certainly make my life easier. But still… I can sense something odd. Just like with Sona…'
It was a strange sensation, as if he could detect something beneath the surface—an instinct that had emerged ever since his System activated. It wasn't clear whether he was sensing strength, danger, or simply the presence of milk, but it was enough to make him wary.
Stopping in front of the door, Jin knocked twice and spoke through the door.
"Issei, I brought some drinks for you and your girlfriend."
Immediately, the sound of scrambling came from inside, followed by Issei's panicked voice.
"Wha—?! Nii-san! W-Wait a second!"
A moment later, the door swung open, revealing Issei dressed in casual clothes.
Taking advantage of the open door, Jin stole a quick glance inside. Sitting on the edge of the bed was a beautiful girl with long black hair and striking black eyes, wearing a school uniform. Her features were delicate yet alluring, and Jin immediately understood why Issei had been so smitten.
However, what caught Jin's attention wasn't her beauty—it was her gaze. Her eyes briefly flicked toward Jin, and in that moment, he felt a sense of disdain, as if she considered him beneath her notice.
'So her target is definitely Issei. But… why?'
"Nii-san?" Issei called, snapping Jin out of his thoughts.
"Oh! My bad," Jin said, shaking off his unease. "Here—enjoy this juice with your girlfriend." He handed the tray to Issei, who accepted it with a grin.
"Thanks, Nii-san! You're the best!"
"Yeah, I know," Jin replied with a smirk. "Anyway, I'll leave you two alone. I'll be in my room if you need me."
Turning around, Jin walked to his room and closed the door behind him. His smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression as he leaned against the door.
'That girl… She's bad news. I can feel it.'
Crossing his arms, Jin stared at the ceiling, his mind racing.
'There's something dangerous about her. I don't know what she's planning, but I need to be ready. I'll follow them on their date—make sure nothing happens.'
With that decision made, Jin sat down on his bed and exhaled slowly, mentally preparing himself for what was to come.
