Chapter 183: Goliath (7)
"How is it, are they settling in properly?"
I shook my head with a bitter smile when I heard Faust asking this.
He said this as if this wasn't any of his concern, but he had been the one that had caused all of this.
Still, it wasn't as if he had to deal with the results of this since he had thrown the goliaths to me.
"How is it going digging up all of the bones?" I asked him back.
Faust was watching as the skeletons were digging up the bones that we had buried.
With the goliaths digging the holes, it had been quite easy for us to dig out the holes that were needed to bury all of the goliath skeletons.
After all, the goliaths were filled with power and energy, so they were able to dig the holes quite quickly.
It was different for these skeletons.
Unlike the goliaths, the skeletons just didn't have the same kind of power. While they did have the advantage since they were undead and could keep digging without sleep, there was a difference in how deep they dug compared to the goliaths.
It took them much longer to dig out the goliath skeletons that had been buried deep in the ground. At the same time, Faust couldn't be as crude as the goliaths when digging up these skeletons since he was going to turn them into his minions.
If he were to accidentally damage them while digging them up, then it would be a loss to him.
As for why we were able to fight with the goliath skeletons before, it was all because we had been acting.
While the shockwaves and the punches were real, we had enough control that we were able to make it so they didn't actually make contact. Even if we used these attacks, there was no damage to the bones at all.
What Faust did was make the bones fall apart on their own and be blown away by the force of the attacks.
He even made sure to create a layer of barrier around the bones just so they would be protected when they fell to the ground.
This was something that couldn't be done by normal people.
But it was easy for Faust who had the shared mana pool of seven different people. At the same time, the mana pool of each of these seven different people weren't normal, they were much larger than the mana pool of a normal person.
With all of this mana, it was easy for Faust to protect the bones.
"Just go and help them dig already. You're the one that made sure to mark down all of the spots where the bones were buried, so go and find them already." Faust said in response to my jab.
I didn't say anything and just went over to help the skeletons dig up the bones.
With me helping, it was much easier for us to find the bones.
Though once I started helping, it really seemed like I was the one that was doing most of the digging since I was stronger than the skeletons. It seemed that Faust really was getting the most out of me being here.
While we were digging, I asked, "What are you planning to do now? It's not as if you can hang around the town after this plan."
"I've already thought about it." Faust revealed another smile that sent a chill down my spine, but I still waited to hear what he had to say.
After a pause, Faust said, "What if I become the villain while you become the hero?"
I was surprised to hear this, but I gave a nod in response since I knew that he was right about this. With the way that we had divided our tasks, it would make sense to do this since it would make it easier for us to conquer this wilderness.
With the two of us operating separately like this, it would actually mean that we would be able to get twice as much done.
The problem with this was that if anyone were to discover the connection between us, there was no doubt that we would run into many problems. It meant that we wouldn't actually be able to help each other if something happened.
However…
"There are other avatars, so don't hesitate to call them for help." Faust was the one that said this which made a bitter smile appear on my face.
The way that he spoke to me was as if he was treating me like some kind of child that needed to be taken care of.
I couldn't help shaking my head hearing this, but I didn't bother arguing with him this time.
The way that we argued normally was our way of having fun, but this was more serious than that.
"If you need help, don't worry about our plans and just come running to me."
Faust didn't say anything after I said this, which just made both of us feel awkward.
Though we were already feeling awkward because I had said those words.
After a long silence, Faust just said, "Keep digging so we can get this done as soon as possible. Once you're done, I'll be leaving with my minions."
I gave a nod before looking down at the ground in front of me.
But then Faust suddenly added, "If you need help, go look for the same cave as before. I'll be leaving some of my minions there just in case, so you'll be able to use them if you want."
The two of us felt even more awkward, but at least we had said what needed to be said.
Even if we were the same person, we had been in this world long enough that it felt like all of us were developing as our own people.
So when the time came, we did have our own different opinions.
Sometimes there were things that needed to be said even if we were different people.
