Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 159: Ice demons (1)

With the memories that I had from the game, I was able to find what I was looking for in the end.

Seeing the gaping cave in front of me, it really felt like this was a dangerous place.

And that was because this was a dangerous place.

This place was a special place where there was a special group hiding.

This group was the group that I was looking for.

I didn't walk into the cave right away as I pulled out a ring that I put on my finger.

The moment that this ring appeared, there was a swirl of dark energy that appeared around me. This swirl of dark energy continued to wrap around me until it suddenly disappeared without a trace.

When it disappeared, I had a completely different appearance compared to before.

Gone was the blonde hair and blue eyes, now I had black hair and red eyes.

There were even this small pair of horns that were on my head.

Taking out a mirror to look at myself, I gave a nod of approval before saying, "Not bad."

Even though I had been dyed black like this, I had to admit that I was still handsome.

It wasn't that I was just saying this to flatter myself, I really was handsome even though I had turned myself into this.

After I finished admiring myself in the mirror, I entered the cave.

But the moment that I entered the cave, there was this sound that rang out.

It seemed to be some kind of echo that rang through the cave, but I knew that it was something else. There was a reason why my single footstep would create this kind of sound.

"It seems like they've set up an alarm…But this wasn't in the game?" I was a bit confused since this was something different from what I had expected.

After a moment of thought, I continued walking into the cave.

It was already too late for me to stop what I was doing, so the only thing that I could do was finish what I had started.

After walking for a while, a voice said, "Stop where you are and raise your hands. We don't want to hurt you since you're a demon as well, but we won't let you enter our home that easily."

But even then, I didn't stop.

I continued walking forward towards the source of this voice.

When I did, there were icicles that suddenly flew out towards me.

However, it only took a single wave of my hand to create flames that melted all of the icicles before they could even reach me. The flames were so powerful that even the water that the icicles melted into turned to steam before it could come to me.

That didn't stop the icicles from coming at me, but none of the icicles could make it past the flames that I created.

Even though there were icicles that were flying at me, I just continued stepping forward towards the source of the voice.

"Stop!"

It wasn't just a single voice that was calling for me to stop, it was a bunch of voices that came out while the icicles continued flying. There was clearly more than a single person that was throwing these icicles at me.

But even then, they weren't able to reach me.

Finally, I found the source of the icicles.

The flames that I summoned lit up the cave and I was able to see everything that was here.

It was a bunch of blue skinned people that had been shooting these icicles at me.

They looked no different from a normal human, but there were two things that they had that normal humans didn't have.

One was a set of horns on their heads.

Two was a tail that came from their butts.

With this appearance, it was hard to call them anything other than demons and that was exactly what they were. However, they were different from normal demons that lived in the demon territory.

They were a variant of demons that had a special requirement.

That was why they lived on this mountain and in this cave made of ice.

Their official name was the ice demons, but they just called themselves the Snow Tribe.

When they saw me standing there surrounded in flames, these ice demons looked terrified of me. They looked at me as if I was some kind of monster that had barged in on their home.

But thinking about it, that was actually an accurate description of what I had done.

Most of the ice demons backed away from me since they were afraid of me, but there was one that actually came forward.

This one was bigger than the rest of the ice demons and he seemed stronger than the others. This one was obviously the leader of this group of ice demons that had attacked me.

"Who are you and what do you want?" He said in a trembling voice.

With a smile, I said, "Believe it or not, I actually come in peace. I just have something that I want to discuss with your Snow Tribe."

"Discuss? When those powerful demon tribes were the ones that kicked us out in the first place? What is there to discuss with you?" The ice demon seemed to gain a bit of courage when he said this.

Though it seemed that this was courage that was driven by hatred.

The reason why these ice demons had been sent away from the territory of the demons was simply because they were a lower tier tribe that had their land taken from them. Since they had their land taken, they had no choice but to find a new place to live and eventually settled in the land of the humans.

Only this was a place that humans didn't step on since it was a mountain that was covered in snow.

So they were able to live in relative peace because of how isolated this place was.

That was until I burst in on them.
