Chapter 66: Eating “Xu Zheng” Brand Ice Cubes
Just then, Eula suddenly spoke up.
"Lady Ganyu, do you know where the Guizhong Ballista is?"
Though she acted indifferent on the surface, deep down Eula was still a girl—and a curious one at that.
She'd long been intrigued by what a "Guizhong Ballista," a device built by the adepti, might look like, and how it functioned.
After all, Mondstadt had no such mechanical creations.
"I do. Do you want to go take a look?"
Having guarded Liyue for a thousand years, Ganyu naturally knew where the Guizhong Ballista was.
And besides, she'd noticed Eula's curiosity.
"Mhm." Eula didn't deny it.
"You three head back first. I'll take our Mondstadt friend to see the Guizhong Ballista."
Ganyu turned and instructed the nearby squad of Qianyan troops.
"Just tell me the location, I can go by myself."
Eula, as always, felt a little awkward receiving other people's kindness.
Xu Zheng stepped up beside her and patted her shoulder, mimicking her usual tone:
"Unforgivable. So you're saying you don't want to give my master face? I'll remember this grudge."
That line made both Ganyu and Eula laugh.
Especially Eula—she hadn't expected anyone to use her own signature lines to tease her.
She gave a small huff. "I'll remember this grudge."
Xu Zheng continued, "But I'm the kind who settles scores on the spot."
"Oh? And how do you plan to do that?"
Eula smiled behind her hand, curious what sort of "revenge" Xu Zheng would take.
"Like this!"
With a flash, Xu Zheng darted behind her and reached both hands forward—
Right into her armpits.
And launched a full-on tickle attack.
"Hehe—ahahahaha!"
At first, Eula tried her best to hold back, but soon she was laughing uncontrollably.
Ganyu stood to the side, quietly watching.
A trace of envy flickered across her delicate face.
I want to be "avenged" too...
Naturally, Eula wouldn't let Xu Zheng bully her forever.
She seized a chance to turn and retaliate.
Ganyu: Should I just… leave?
———
Ganyu led them effortlessly to the area near the Guizhong Ballista.
She raised a hand and pointed into the distance.
"There it is.
But be careful—the Ballista is still active and will automatically attack anything that approaches."
Seeing it in person only deepened Eula's curiosity.
"Ganyu, can I get close and test its response range?"
Notably, she now referred to Ganyu simply as "Ganyu," dropping the formal "Lady" title.
In front of Qianyan soldiers or while handling official business, she used "Lady Ganyu."
But in private, just "Ganyu."
Ganyu understood Eula's strength and knew this ancient Ballista's power had long waned.
It wasn't as dangerous as it had once been.
And Eula wasn't just anyone.
"Alright. But be careful," she said gently.
"Be careful, Eula-jie."
Xu Zheng also voiced his concern.
"I will. After all, I promised to teach you how to use a greatsword."
She smiled.
Ganyu, hearing that, suddenly froze.
Teach?
Eula's going to teach my disciple?!
Another one? Another person trying to steal my disciple??
Ganyu glanced at her bow with a complicated expression.
Suddenly… she no longer wanted to use a bow.
She thought, Maybe I should learn greatsword too… then I could teach Xu Zheng myself.
Blame Cloud Retainer. Should've taught me more skills.
Cloud Retainer: You want me to swing a greatsword with wings??
Ganyu thought back on her past millennium: work, work, and more work.
Maybe if she'd learned cooking… or law… or swordsmanship…
Xu Zheng wouldn't be surrounded by so many other mentors now.
———
Eula stepped into the Ballista's activation range.
Detecting a living being, the Ballista rotated its bolt launcher to aim at her.
Thwip—
It fired.
But Eula, like a graceful dancer, dodged it with ease.
A second bolt came.
Again, she twirled and slipped past it—
Her movements fluid and elegant, like a performance.
Watching this, Xu Zheng couldn't help but think:
Those legs are so white.
Wait, no—
That dance is so white?
Still not right...
Anyway, pretty people make everything look good.
He recalled that in Genshin Impact, Eula once performed a dance to teach the Traveler about Lawrence family customs.
Yeah… I should convince her to do it again sometime, see it live.
And if the Traveler is Aether… better warn Eula to stay away from that "steals-your-big-sister" kind of guy.
Ganyu also stood quietly to the side, watching Eula's movements.
She had originally intended to jump in and rescue her if anything went wrong.
But it seemed she wasn't needed.
Eula was dodging effortlessly.
And gracefully.
———
Eula eventually backed out of the Ballista's range.
Her light exercise had left a faint sheen of sweat on her.
Xu Zheng formed several lotus-shaped ice cubes with his Cryo Vision and handed them to her.
By now, they had a rhythm—Eula simply opened her mouth and waited for him to feed her.
After all, her hands were sweaty. Holding ice directly would be unpleasant.
Ganyu watched silently from the side… fists slowly tightening.
I want to eat Xu Zheng's ice cubes too.
I want to be fed too!
And suddenly—
Something in Ganyu's heart clicked.
A mental switch flipped on.
"This weather sure is hot," she remarked, seemingly offhand.
"Yeah, it is," Xu Zheng replied.
"I'm hot… and thirsty," Ganyu added, emphasizing the second word.
Eula flushed slightly.
She could hear the subtext loud and clear.
"Thirsty."
As in: please feed me.
After a few more bites of ice cubes, Eula's blush faded and she said,
"Looks like Ganyu's pretty thirsty too."
Xu Zheng glanced at Ganyu—
Her expression practically screamed, "Please feed me."
So, he conjured a heart-shaped ice cube and brought it to her lips.
As Ganyu accepted the icy treat, the fluffy little ahoge (hair strand) on her head began to sway back and forth.
Eula blinked.
It was the first time she'd noticed Ganyu's ahoge moved.
Now I'm really curious!!!
———
On the walk back, Xu Zheng started feeling a bit… ripped off.
Why am I the only one making ice cubes?
You both have Cryo Visions too!
Am I just a walking ice dispenser now??
Furious, cold, and trembling.
When will boys finally stand up for themselves?!
———
Back in Liyue, Xiangling and Yanfei had returned earlier.
After waiting for a while, they decided to head back out and help search for the "Coconut Goat."
But they'd only just left the city when they saw Xu Zheng, Eula, and Ganyu walking toward them.
"Ganyu! Eula!" Yanfei waved.
Xiangling, already sweating in the heat, lagged behind a bit.
She was starting to question why she hadn't been blessed with a Cryo Vision.
Once they met up, Yanfei asked, "Ganyu, what are you guys doing together?"
Xu Zheng briefly explained their earlier misadventure.
Especially the part about being "arrested" by that overzealous Qianyan team leader.
Xiangling, however, had no interest in that.
She was more concerned with the weather.
Wiping sweat from her forehead, she said:
"You all don't look hot at all. So lucky!"
Eula, recalling how Xu Zheng had just fed her ice cubes, blushed faintly.
Xiangling kept going: "Oh right, Xiao Xu Zheng! You can use Cryo, right? Make a few ice cubes—I'm gonna melt!"
Xu Zheng froze.
More??
Do I just look like a walking ice machine to everyone now?
Is it only "Xu Zheng" brand ice cubes that count??
