Heavenly Opposers

"Boy, who are you?"

Xiao was soon faced with this question from a beautiful woman who seemed to have seen much in her life. Just her natural presence blended into the world, a sense of profoundness too deep to be measured radiated from her body. Xiao could even feel his fire control being severely restricted under the woman's gaze.

The moment he's out of his life-and-death battle, he's pulled into another one. For once, Xiao just wanted to find a warm bed and take a rest. But holding back his annoyance, Xiao's eyes looked towards Yun Yurou, who was in a similar situation to him. Scanning through all the situations in his mind, Xiao spoke.

"It's just as you think, your excellency."

Hearing Xiao's words, the ancestral elder's eyes rose up in question. She spoke again with some power in her words.

"What do you mean?"

Not feeling pressured, Xiao spoke back.

"Nothing. What I meant is that the situation is just as you have thought."

Xiao's logic was simple; right now, he has no idea where he is and what's going on. So it's better to go with the flow for right now, rather than him bullshitting some made-up excuse. It's better that he builds upon the thoughts that were already swirling within the mind of the other. Plus, it's not like he has the ability to trick such a powerful expert.

Hearing Xiao's words, the woman's eyes twinkled with some deep thoughts. The pressure on Xiao and Yun Yurou disappeared, and as soon as it did, Yun Yurou didn't hesitate to run up to Xiao as she started to check up on him. Her eyes were filled with gentleness as she made sure that Xiao was not hurt.

"Tsk, what a brat."

The ancestral elder rolled her eyes as she saw a divine phoenix acting like an obedient wife. But in the end, she sighed. She naturally couldn't control the path of Yun Yurou. While her talents were out of this world, there's still much to be understood. She looked at Xiao as she spoke.

"Boy, do you know the commotion you have caused? Sigh... this Beastial era truly is a bizarre one."

At first, Xiao wasn't much interested in the ramblings of the woman. But when he heard the rest of her words, he was stunned for a moment.

'Beastial Era?'

For a moment, Xiao thought that he had heard it wrong. But seeing the same stunned look on Yun Yurou's face, he understood that it was not a mistake. Soon, a lot of the things he felt were missing started to fall into pieces. But the more proof he saw, the more impossible things became for him. But soon he calmed down.

Well, he died first, was reborn in another world, then he died again where he was brought back to the past. After going through all this, there's a point where mystical things become bland. Anyhow, Xiao's mind soon started to rise with several prospects. But before he could say anything, the woman in front of him did.

"Anyhow, you two should go and take a rest as you consolidate your foundations. It would seem that the war would be brought forward."

"War?"

Hearing Xiao's question, the woman shot him an annoyed look before she continued.

"Of course, the war's brought forward due to both of you. I am sure that they won't be able to stay back feeling both of your talents. Sigh... just when we were getting a leeway."

The more he heard, the more questions birthed in Xiao's mind. But before he could ask anything, the woman in front of him waved her hand, and she disappeared. With that, several rows of servants walked into the room and they started to lead Xiao and Yun Yurou to a specific room. Well, it was one of the most luxurious rooms Xiao had ever been to.

The same could be said for Yun Yurou as she too kept looking at the huge room they were brought to. Each and every edge screamed profoundness. Thankfully, right now, Xiao was being protected from the immense pressure of the Qi in this place. The purple flame within him seemed to have a role in it. Moreover, he could feel that the Qi around the room had been tempered for his comfort.

There seemed to be a relaxation and mind-focusing arrays fixed into the room to allow people who just broke through to feel more relaxed so that they could consolidate their foundation safely. As soon as both of them had entered the room, the so-called 'servants' closed the room and they locked both of them within the room.

Xiao didn't pay any heed to it as he walked towards the huge bed in the room, laying on it to relax. He was truly tired from all that had happened till now. But just as he had laid on the bed, someone else didn't wait any longer. She too lay beside him. Turning to the side, Xiao was met with the eyes of Yun Yurou, who was looking at him lovingly.

For a moment, Xiao couldn't help but be dazed by her beauty. Her long red-yellow hair that fell to her back as she lay on the bed, her beautiful and mysterious flame-like eyes, while her red dress complimented her perfectly, and her bewitching face was filled with a loving smile on her. For some reason, Xiao felt an uncanny resemblance of it to the past.

'Wow, she sure became good-looking.'

Thinking of this, he quickly shook his head as he lay straight on the bed looking up at the ceiling. But it seemed that Yun Yurou didn't have enough as she moved closer to him. She lay dangerously close to him as she looked at him from above. Her eyes were curled up happily as she kept smiling. Now being unable to handle it anymore, Xiao spoke.

"What are you looking at so intently?"

Hearing Xiao's words, Yun Yurou's face changed as she pouted at him. Seeing it, Xiao couldn't help but feel his heart itch. But his surprise was only beginning as Yun Yurou replied in an obvious manner.

"Of course, I am looking at my husband."

"Huh?"

Xiao was so dumbfounded for a moment that only a voice was able to escape his mouth. Seeing it, a mischievous smile came upon Yun Yurou's face as she laughed a bit. Seeing it, Xiao quickly recovered his mind as he rebutted her.

"Just when did we get married?!"

Xiao could agree that she now holds a great deal of care for Yun Yurou much greater than before. But it hadn't reached the level of love yet. The woman that Xiao had almost fallen for was the Yun Yurou who doesn't exist anymore. When she died, his feelings had died with her too. Just them being the same person doesn't mean that they are the same.

The adventures, ups and downs, the nightmares, and all the fights he had with the future Yun Yurou all amounted to the reason that he almost fell for her. But none of them exist now. In a way, that was a past that would remain the past. At the same time, Yun Yurou hearing Xiao's words didn't panic as she moved her hands and held Xiao's hand.

For some reason, Xiao wasn't able to move as he saw Yun Yurou lovingly raising his hand as she held it to her heart and she spoke in a gentle voice.

"Maybe not yet but surely, definitely, I will take your heart for myself. I will make sure to be by your side forever."

Yun Yurou's words were filled with conviction and unyielding spirit. The amount of love that was coming through her was so overwhelming that the surroundings heated to her emotions.
