Chapter 248. Clichéd scenes.
Kailen entered the large building.
The thick scent of alchemical ingredients kept coming out of different rooms, inasmuch as the rooms were closed and were currently being used by others—students who were busily manufacturing their alchemical products.
He headed towards the counter, where a feminine figure could be seen seated with a lazy expression on her face.
Her expression was speaking volumes about how tired and bored she was at the moment.
Kailen, approaching the lady seated at the counter from afar, could honestly say that he even heard her saying something like, "So much for being the organiser of the first year's alchemy department."
This lady was really bored with her work.
She had bunny-like ears, round marble-like eyes and a petite frame that would make people call her adorable.
She was dressed in some sort of vest, jeans and sneakers, leaving her hairy, bunny-like arms exposed.
"There really are many races in the universe," Kailen couldn't help but mutter inwardly on seeing her peculiar appearance.
The lady, seeing Kailen, was very professional with how she addressed him, even though she didn't know who he was.
"What can I do for you, sir?"
Kailen replied, not standing on ceremony.
"Please, I need to borrow a room for an hour."
The moment Kailen spoke, the bunny-like lady sighed with disdain.
Her expression experienced a 180-degree shift. She looked like she had just been fed a pile of dirt as she stared at Kailen.
"Another loser who wants to show off. Just fuck off." She didn't even hide her words from Kailen, speaking audibly with her bunny-like teeth exposed and her spittle flying all over.
Several individuals who seemed to be entering the building were drawn towards the commotion.
"Hehe, someone managed to piss off the senior again."
"Honestly, some of us new students are full of themselves. The guy wants to borrow the room for just an hour?"
"I know, right? What's he gonna make in the span of an hour?"
"A pastry?"
"Pfffft… Haahhaaha. That was a good one."
Kailen sighed inwardly. "What's with all these cliché arrogant young master and jade beauty shit wherever I go? Never mind. I'm not in the mood to argue with this good-for-nothing rabbit and these shit shows."
Kailen maintained a calm expression at her words and the mocking words of the onlookers, then replied, "Look, you are here for my student credits, right? How much is it for renting a room for an hour?"
Seeing that Kailen still wanted to make a fool of himself and waste his student credits by spending an hour in a room accomplishing nothing, she rudely pointed towards a hologram somewhere at the counter showing the account number for the transaction, alongside the cost of renting different tiers of rooms.
Kailen typed the account number on the hologram using his ID slot hologram and transferred the needed credits for spending an hour in a high-tier alchemical room.
"Where can I find a high-tier alchemical room?"
He asked the bunny lady.
Her head was currently buried in a pillow on the raised platform at the counter; however, when she heard Kailen asking about where to find a high-tier alchemical room, she couldn't help but look at him again, this time with a renewed view of him.
Even the fellow first years who were mocking him earlier became silent.
The amount of student credits for renting a high-tier alchemical room was staggering.
She confirmed from the transaction details that he had rented a high-tier alchemical room and paid an extremely high number of student credits.
This meant that this first-year student was not simple.
In the academy, credits were earned through duels, missions, and special achievements.
If this guy was able to rent a high-tier alchemical room and pay a large number of student credits, it meant that he was strong and capable.
Was she wrong about him?
Had she acted childishly?
Kailen sighed, feeling like he was wasting his time, as the lady was staring at him with a perplexed expression, as if she didn't know how to reply to him.
"Forget it," Kailen said. "Let's use the map."
He left the shocked counter lady and the crowd asking themselves who this mysterious first-year student was.
"Looks like I really was wrong about him. But who is he?"
The bunny lady searched for the name of the student.
On finding his rank, she sighed at her own ignorance.
Her friends had told her to stay updated on matters in the academy. Had she listened to them, she would have recognised the first-ranked student amongst the first years. She wouldn't have also missed the chance to become good friends with him, or at least have good relations with a future powerhouse.
She had messed up big time.
As for the first-year students, they presumed he was someone in the top 20.
They were currently cursing themselves for offending a top ranker of the first years.
They planned to wait for the mysterious top ranker to come out so that they would apologise to him.
After all, if he held a grudge and decided to go after them, they'd be in serious trouble.
On hearing their conversations, the bunny-like lady couldn't help but find it surprising that, as first years, they couldn't even recognise the top ranker of the first years.
However, she didn't dwell on it.
"Maybe they are as clueless as I am, huh?" she said. "Anyway, now that I know he's Kailen Darkhaven, I don't think he's trying to show off. But what can he actually manufacture in an hour? Alchemical products require a lot of time and patience to make, after all."
She wondered.
"Well, it's none of my business anyway."
However, she didn't know that she couldn't have been more wrong.
Kailen entered the high-tier room.
He couldn't help but nod in satisfaction.
The room was just right.
The alchemical ingredients for making rank 1 alchemical ingredients here were vast, and all high quality.
"Not bad. Time to get to work."
