Chapter 175: Adam Vs Alustus Finale
Floating above the stone surface of the great tsunami Adam had turned to stone, Alustus sat cross-legged, his eyes closed as he slowly recharged his energy.
It was a slow process, but manageable. His training was primarily centered around his racial capabilities.
His original combat style falling within the lineage of Force. With his Regulator Crown, a highly advanced version of the Sidhe race Regulator Rings, and the ultimate symbol of his authority as King Side, he was already in a higher evolutionary state of his race.
Using that, he could convert Miasma into Corruption, also known as Monster Energy.
Still... with Berreta here, the process could easily be ten times faster.
"Tshhh… Still, this Adam guy… he is strong. Way too strong."
He muttered.
"Either way, Xindy, what is my current energy reserve?"
[About 13%. Using the Key really drained you]
"…Fuck. I can't believe Minerva's such a bitch."
He clicked his tongue.
"Either way… breeding that sow into submission would probably be for the better."
Alustus spoke calmly, but in that very moment, he sensed a familiar presence flying towards him.
He didn't even need to turn, but spoke out loudly to the expected one flying to him.
"Little one."
He said without looking.
"I presume you delivered my message?"
His voice was cool, regal, and weirdly gentle.
"Yes, Father. I have indeed delivered your message."
His daughter answered cheerfully.
"Lady Berreta is on her way now!"
Good…
He murmured, his lips curling into a smirk.
"I'll reward you later, for no...
"Darling!?"
The voice of a familiar female rang out behind him. Alustus didn't move. His meditative posture remained steady as he hovered mid-air, suspended in silence and poise.
"Ahh, Berreta!"
He said smoothly, not even opening his eyes.
"I'm glad you came. As you can see, I find myself in a rather… unexpected predicament."
Berreta didn't respond right away.
However her expression faltered, at the sight of her beloved, confusion, and sorrow visible in her eyes, but she forced a smile and answered softly.
"To think someone was actually strong enough… to push you this far."
There was real worry in her voice.
Alustus scoffed, irritated by the thought, as he was her words, but he shrugged it off, and replied.
"Ahhh, don't remind me. Still, I haven't lost yet. Victory was just within my grasp… until, ahh, I'll explain later. For now… assist me. Restore my energy so I can end this once and for all."
It wasn't a request, but rather a command.
Berreta bowed her head lightly and responded with quiet obedience.
"Of course, d-darling."
She said, her words hardly left her mouth, something was bothering her.
She stepped closer to ruler size entity, that was her king, her hand glowing with eerie dark light.
Her energy wrapped around his body, cool, invasive, yet intimate.
Immediately, Alustus felt the change, the moment Berreta hand covered his back.
As he absorbed the Miasma from the world around him, and converted it into Corruption, Berreta's Dark Healing acted like an independent but identical source of power.
Her energy began creating his own Monster energy, amplifying it tenfold, seemingly conjuring it source from nothing.
That forged energy poured back into him like wine filling a deep cup.
His reserves swelled quickly, and he smile because of it.
"Heheh… at this rate, I can fully recharge my energy in about six hours."
Alustus muttered to himself, floating calmly over the battlefield.
"But to command Poseidon now that it is fully charged… I'll need at least 40% energy to activate it."
Alustus said slowly.
"But I think I can reach that in about two or three hours, tops. The children should be able to hold that bastard back until then."
"As long as Eden stays intact, they can keep respawning from the castle's Central Command Ro...
STABBB!!
The world froze, as the sound of steel piercing flesh echoed vividly in the background.
A sharp, burning pain bloomed in Alustus chest in that moment.
As his eyes snapped open.
He looked down, and for a moment, he couldn't comprehend what he was seeing.
"Ghjkkkk!...
Blood spill fort from his mouth, pouring down his lips. A long, glimmering blade had pierced straight through his torso, the edge exiting clean through his heart.
Time seem to have slowed down for Alustus in that moment.
His head turned slowly… as if refusing to accept the truth.
Behind him stood Berreta. Her healing had stopped. And her body began to trembled. Causing the gripped hilt tremble, as the blade shake inside him.
Sorrowful tears streamed down Berreta face, as she dared not look Alustus in the eye, at this very moment.
"…You… bitch...
Alustus choked, expressing his immediate thoughts in this moment, his fury bubbling at Berreta betrayal.
"I… I'm sorry."
She whispered in a low tone, her voice cracking under the pressure.
"I had no choice. It was either this… or die. I didn't want to… I don't want to die…
But before Alustus he could even answer, a voice erupted inside his mind.
[My Lord! In front of you...danger]
Xindy's alarm rang too late, because in that moment, the sound of blade cutting through the air could be heard.
"Wait, what...
A burst of red lightning howled across the air. The small Sidhe, the fairy he thought was his daughter, raised a second blade, identical to Berreta's only vastly smaller to fitted her tiny hand.
Made and constructed from the flesh of many monsters, and blade made from the reinforce bones of werewolf.
It ignore durability completely.
And a small lightning coiled around it with killing purpose.
The small female went straight for the kill, blade aimed straight for Alustus exposed throat.
His internal and external barrier mostly down to save energy.
As the burning weapon sank halfway into his neck, sizzling through flesh, muscle, and bone. His body convulsing from the shock, and pain alike.
But just before she severed his head completely, he strengthen his passive internal barrier back to maximum power, halting the blade's advances completely.
He gasped, coughing blood. His hand shot up, grabbing at his torn neck.
"Haaaah… fuck you too… what the hell is happening?!"
He staggered in the air, disoriented, panicked, eyes darting wildly.
But then, the small Sidhe began to smile menacingly as he looked at the panicked Alustus who began to speak.
"You… you're not my daughter… Aren't you?"
"Hehehe... About time you notice."
The illusion shimmered, then dissolved as the true face of the attackers is revealed.
Where the fairy had floated, now stood Adam in her place.
Looking calmly and coldly at Alustus.
His smile was bloodthirsty, his intention clear.
But what really send Alustus to the flip side was what he said next.
"Nicely done, Berreta."
Adam said, his voice smooth and low in this moment.
"With this... it's over."
"You... betrayed me… for him?!"
Alustus screamed, his voice and power rising even more.
"You stupid… SLUTTTT!!"
His power surged in blind rage, exploding outward in a massive spherical pulse, activating a force barrier, pushing it outwards, to tear apart and vaporize his attackers.
Reality trembled under the weight of his outburst.
But it didn't matter.
Adam's red veracious lightning devoured it purpose as it push to cast them away.
The barrier was erased by the lightning, feeding off his monster energy, to refined and empower it more and more.
Lightning laced with Veracious force broke down the blast at the root, nullifying the explosion before it could spread.
Adam didn't flinch at all while doing this.
Rather the sheer amount, control with his regulator rings runes his power to the point he had grown past Alustus's weaken reserve entirely.
And through it all, Adam stood tall, his sword still buried halfway in the king's neck.
Alustus screamed, flailing, but his strength was fading quickly he need to do somethin quickly or he was going to die here.
"DAMN IT, I NEED TO ESCAPE… MY SUBJECTS, YOUR FATHER IS IN TROUBLE! HELP ME!!"
Alustus screamed, but Adam only keep his smile up as his said to Alustus in mocking tone.
"Pathetic… nice try, though. Berreta told me everything I needed to take you down."
"I already destroyed your portal the moment she came through."
"I guess you didn't realize, hehehe, poor you I guess."
Alustus didn't see it, but he could feel it.
The portal he had created earlier to bring his subject's here to fight in his place… was an illusion. And now, it was fading away, revealing an empty space, as the portal to the castle and here no longer existed.
Adam had destroyed it, without him even noticing.
But there was still hope.
Alustus looked up, desperate to call on the remaining army above.
Since Adam was here, then it means some troops were definitely alive.
However, to his surprise.
When he look up, he found them all dead.
Already cut down.
Their corpses rained from the sky like slowly falling ashes.
What shocked him even more though… was the fact that Adam floated above him, smiling at him with a smug face.
This confused him greatly.
If Adam was up there, then who the fuck was this.
But before he could say anything.
A flash of green light burst in front of him.
As past Adam suddenly appeared, wielding a similar blade, glowing with power.
With vicious brutality, he swung from the other side of Alustus's neck, with all the force he could muster in that moment which cause the ground to shake viciously, tearing through skin and flesh alike.
But that was as far as he reached.
But even then victory was close, if not guaranteed at this point.
"Hehehe… thanks for the heads-up, future me."
"Now let's end this bastard."
Future Adam laughed, then looked at Berreta, and gave her command.
She was the star of this show.
"Do it now, Berreta."
With those words, Berreta gritted her teeth, as tear flow from her eyes, she had a look a pure self hatred as she just betrayed the only man that has even shown her even a speck of love.
But even then her life meant more than the emotion.
As she began channeling her power into the blade. It was made to be a conduit as well.
Right after...
She whispered with heavy guilt.
[Dark Healing: Miserable Fantasy]
In that moment, her Monster Energy surged into Alustus, via the blade, vastly stronger than his own due to his weakened state.
And as logic would have it, he couldn't resist it.There was no contest of skill here, it was power vs power, and Alustus had less.
As such he succumb to Berretas own power.
He gasped, then he soon began to feel incredibly drowsy, a she was been pulled into illusive fantasy, as dream awaits him on the other end.
"Ahhh... N-nooo... N-not like this...
His eyes started to get heavy.
As his power began to shut down.
And with that, his internal barrier failed.
The passive defense depended on Monster Energy, but now, there was nothing left to sustain it.
The moment had come.
And both Adams moved at once, sinking deeper into his flesh.
Their blades, charged with Veracious Lightning and Anti-Energy, which sank in from both sides.
Clean, as it was brutal.
Like molten knives cutting through soft butter.
SLASHHH!!!
SLASHHH!!!
Two arcs.
Two blades.
They met in the middle, right through his spine.
As Alustus neck split wide open.
His head flew from his shoulders.
And blood poured out, spraying high into the air, raining down on both his killer and his betrayer.
And like that Adam own System chipped in saying.
『Master Alustus is Dead』
