NOVEL WEB Chapter 160: Pain is in Pain
The sky burned orange, dark clouds swirling ominously above Konoha as Pain's forces descended.
"I am Pain. And I will bring judgment upon this world."
The words barely had time to settle before a blur of motion shot from the Hokage Monument.
Naruto dashed forward like a golden streak of death, appearing in the middle of Konoha's ruined streets with a thunderous impact.
The Six Paths of Pain turned to face him.
Naruto cracked his knuckles.
"I don't give a shit about your speech. Let's get this over with."
Pain's Deva Path raised a hand.
"Arrogant—"
But before he could finish, Naruto vanished.
And then—destruction.
Pain barely saw the attack.
A knee smashed into the Asura Path's skull, sending it flying through three buildings.
Another blur—Naruto reappeared behind the Human Path, twisting his body mid-air, slamming a Senjutsu-enhanced kick into its spine. The sheer force of the impact crushed its back inwards, sending it rocketing into the sky.
The remaining Paths barely had time to react.
Naruto whirled around, his hands flashing through signs.
"Wood Style: Binding Roots!"
Thick wooden tendrils shot out of the ground, ensnaring the Animal Path, snapping its arms like twigs before hurling it into the ruins of a collapsed tower.
The Preta Path lunged forward, reaching to absorb his chakra—
Naruto grinned.
"That ain't gonna work, asshole."
With one glowing palm, he pressed against the Path's chest.
"Shinra Tensei."
Pain's own ability was used against him—the Preta Path was obliterated, its body ripped apart by an omnidirectional shockwave.
The Naraka Path barely had time to summon its King of Hell before a massive Rasengan slammed into its chest, reducing it to a crater in the earth.
And then there was one left.
The Deva Path.
Naruto rolled his shoulders, a smirk tugging at his lips.
"That all you got?"
The Deva Path's Rinnegan glowed ominously.
"Enough."
The air shifted.
Gravity bent.
Naruto had a second to react before a massive repulsive force launched him backward.
But before he could even hit the ground—
A black blur appeared behind him.
Harry caught Naruto mid-air, stopping his momentum like it was nothing.
"Lemme cut in here," Harry said casually.
Naruto grinned, flipping to land beside him. "Be my guest."
Harry vanished.
The Deva Path barely had time to react.
One second, Harry was meters away.
The next—he was right in front of him.
The black chakra rods in Pain's body suddenly dislodged—pulled out instantly as if by an invisible force.
A flick of Harry's wrist, and the rods disintegrated into dust.
The Deva Path's body collapsed—lifeless.
Without the rods, it was nothing more than a corpse.
Pain was gone.
Now, only Nagato remained.
Naruto closed his eyes, sensing the lingering chakra threads that connected the body to its controller.
He and Harry turned to each other at the same time.
"Northwest."
They vanished.
High atop a hidden tower, Nagato coughed violently, his body frail and crippled from years of suffering.
"How… how did they find me so fast?"
The answer came too quickly.
A shadow descended from above.
Harry landed silently, standing before the dying man with a cold, unreadable gaze.
Nagato barely had time to process what was happening before Naruto appeared beside him.
Neither spoke.
They didn't care about his story. They didn't care about his pain.
He had come to destroy their home.
He had killed Jiraiya.
Now he would die.
Harry raised a single hand, black energy coalescing at his fingertips.
Nagato's eyes widened.
And then—he was gone.
Just like that.
No second chances.
No redemption.
Just death.
With Nagato's death, Konan sensed it immediately.
She turned to flee.
She didn't make it five steps before Naruto was in front of her.
A single Senjutsu-infused fist slammed into her gut, sending her crashing through stone walls.
She didn't rise again.
The battle was over.
Konoha was untouched.
No civilians died.
No shinobi were lost.
The only ones who suffered… were Pain.
And for the first time in a long time…
Naruto felt peace.
