Harry Potter: Toji Potter

Chapter 155: Unnerving news

The air in Konoha was heavy with grief. The loss of Asuma Sarutobi had sent shockwaves through the village, leaving a void that could never truly be filled. The streets were quieter, the usual buzz of life dulled by the weight of mourning.

But amidst the sorrow, there was anger. And in that anger, a thirst for justice.

Naruto and Harry walked side by side, their footsteps silent as they made their way through the village. Naruto's fists were clenched, his mind already focused on the mission ahead.

Harry, however, wore his usual unreadable expression. He had seen death far too often to let it shake him. But even he couldn't ignore the burning fury in Shikamaru's eyes when they stepped into the Nara compound.

Shikamaru sat alone, a cigarette burning between his fingers, but he wasn't smoking it. He was deep in thought, staring blankly at the board in front of him—an elaborate game of shogi, the pieces arranged in a way only he understood.

When Naruto and Harry entered, he barely acknowledged them, his fingers twitching as he reached for another piece.

"I know why you're here," Shikamaru muttered, voice hollow. "You want to go after them."

Naruto sat down across from him, exhaling through his nose. "Yeah. But not just us—you're coming too."

Shikamaru finally looked up, his usually lazy expression replaced with something far more dangerous.

"Good."

Harry, standing off to the side, folded his arms. "I assume you already have some kind of strategy in mind."

Shikamaru flicked the cigarette into an ashtray and leaned forward, his shadow stretching slightly as his chakra flared for a split second.

"I do."

He gestured at the board.

"These two bastards, Hidan and Kakuzu… they're dangerous. One's an immortal freak who doesn't die, the other is some stitched-up monster with five lives." His voice was eerily calm, controlled. But beneath that, there was rage. "We can't just go in without a plan. We need to separate them. Isolate them. That's the only way."

Naruto smirked, leaning back. "That's exactly what we were thinking."

Harry tilted his head. "Hidan's yours. Naruto will handle him with you. I'll deal with Kakuzu."

Shikamaru stared at him. "That simple?"

Harry smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "It'll be over before you know it."

Before they left, Naruto made one last stop.

He found Kurenai-sensei standing in the training grounds, her eyes distant as she stared at nothing in particular. The wind rustled through the trees, carrying the scent of fresh earth.

Naruto approached slowly, stopping just beside her. He didn't speak immediately—he just stood there, giving her time.

"I heard," she finally said, her voice quiet. "You're going after them."

Naruto nodded. "Yeah."

A long silence stretched between them before Kurenai turned to face him. There was grief in her eyes, but also strength.

"Make sure they don't come back."

Naruto met her gaze. "They won't."

For the first time since Asuma's death, Kurenai smiled. Just a small, bittersweet smile. "Thank you."

He turned to leave, but before he did, he glanced at her stomach—the small bump just beginning to show.

"You're not alone," he said softly. "He lives on."

And with that, he walked away, leaving Kurenai standing beneath the trees, her hand resting gently on her stomach.

At Konoha's gate, the three stood ready.

Naruto adjusted the Flying Thunder God kunai strapped to his waist.

Shikamaru tightened the gloves on his hands, his expression set.

Harry simply stood there, the Truth-Seeking Orbs idly floating behind him, his black robes billowing slightly in the wind.

Their mission was simple.

Find the Akatsuki.Destroy them.Avenge Asuma.

With one last look at the village behind them, the trio set off.

AN: This one's a little short, but this one is only for build-up.
