Chapter 35: Is It Okay To Skip Class And Go Directly To The Principal's Office?

The next morning, Dumbledore was sitting in the principal's office with a cup of black tea, a sandwich, and a few pieces of candied fruit. He sipped his breakfast leisurely, occasionally breaking off a small piece and feeding it to Fawkes. Desserts can bring a good mood throughout the day. However, this good mood came to an abrupt end when the door of the principal's office opened and a head poked in from the outside. Fawkes was also in a bad mood as two creatures, resembling the Pokémon Eevee, ran in early and attempted to jump onto the shelf where he was perched.

"Good morning, Professor!" came the cheery greeting.

"Good morning," Dumbledore replied, his smile becoming unnatural at the sight of the student.

"If I remember correctly, you should be in the classroom at this time."

"Oh, the morning class is History of Magic. I've inquired about it in advance. I can just go back and ask my classmates to borrow their notes." Kyle walked in as if nothing had happened.

In his previous life, elective courses had to be skipped, and compulsory courses had to be skipped! These were the most basic operations for him. In fact, for the History of Magic course, it was not so easy to borrow a complete set of notes. Cuthbert Binns' classes were so monotonous that ninety percent of the young wizards couldn't help but zone out, get distracted, or even fall asleep directly. This made the notes for this course highly valuable.

Dumbledore felt baffled. It was not uncommon for students to skip classes at Hogwarts, but skipping class and fleeing to the principal's office seemed a bit excessive.

"Professor, let's continue with last night's lesson," Kyle suggested, his enthusiasm undeterred. "I suddenly became interested in alchemy yesterday, and I know you are also a master alchemist!" He was full of energy and curiosity.

"Oh, fine," Dumbledore conceded, putting away his breakfast and wiping his mouth. Forget it, just skipped one History of Magic lesson. It's better to have this brat under your nose than causing trouble elsewhere.

"Let me think about where we left off yesterday," Dumbledore mused. "By the way, child, how is your Patronus Charm practice coming along?"

"That's what I wanted to talk about, Professor. There doesn't seem to be any progress," Kyle admitted, feeling helpless. The spell was harder than he anticipated. He understood all the key points of casting the spell, but he still couldn't release it successfully.

"Maybe you can try it now, and I can give you some advice," Dumbledore suggested, not thinking much of it. The Patronus Charm is different from ordinary charms. With ordinary spells, practice—fast or slow—will always lead to improvement. But the Patronus Charm tests more than just talent. Is Voldemort talented? He can't cast it. If Kyle can manage to cast a full Patronus Charm, then Dumbledore can rest assured and avoid carrying out tiring ideological education. "Okay, Professor!" Kyle nodded and casually produced a wand, brewing a little emotion. "Expecto Patronum!" He recited the standard incantation, tapping the wand forward. Both the incantation and the emotion were in place. Unfortunately, there was no reaction from the magic. To be precise, there was no response. At least a faint wisp of mist rose from the front of the wand. "Professor, I reached this level last night, but there has been no progress," Kyle shrugged. Even though it was just a wisp of smoke, it also showed he had the potential to learn this spell. "Okay, let me think about it..." Dumbledore frowned, lost in thought. He glanced at the old-looking wand in Kyle's hand. A thought suddenly crossed his mind. "Can I see your wand, child?" he asked. "Wand? Which one are you talking about?" Kyle looked blank. "Do you have many wands?" Dumbledore asked, frozen in disbelief. "There aren't many, are there?" Kyle began to pull wands out of his messenger bag. A moment later, more than a hundred wands were piled in front of him. The corners of Dumbledore's mouth twitched slightly. Good grief! He thought. You don't call this many? Do you carry a wand shop with you? These were Kyle's trophies from Knockturn Alley—second-hand wands not worth much. So, he hadn't sold them, thinking they might be useful someday.
