Chapter 452: Chapter 452: Crush?
Alaric was both flattered and perplexed by Alleria's inexplicable fondness for him.
Driven by curiosity, he decided to observe her closely.
Before long, he noticed that, unlike her aloof demeanor toward others, Alleria would occasionally steal glances at him when she thought he wasn't looking.
In those glances, there was appreciation—and something akin to... affection?
From her peculiar expression, Alaric discerned not only admiration for the opposite sex but also a complex, almost familial warmth, like an elder sister doting on her younger brother.
This strange sentiment puzzled Alaric greatly. But suddenly, as if a bolt of lightning struck his mind, clarity dawned upon him, leaving him amused and exasperated.
Could it be that this woman—no, this elven lady—was a shota-con?
In truth, due to his drastically slowed aging process, Alaric, despite being in his thirties—and nearly fifty if his past life was included—still appeared young.
To make things even more complicated, by the standards of the long-lived races, his biological age should have been even younger.
His youthful appearance was due to his newfound longevity, acquired when he was around sixteen or seventeen.
So, what did sixteen-year-old Alaric look like?
Back in the Harry Potter world, his looks alone were enough to make teenage girls swoon.
In the world of Game of Thrones, he had Daenerys, the Stark sisters, and even Princess Arianne falling for him, often thinking they had "won the jackpot."
In Azeroth, Aegwynn had not only eagerly accepted the fact that they had a child together upon meeting him but had also felt guilty—thinking she was the older one taking advantage of a younger man.
His reconstructed appearance, sharpened by his rebirth, had always given him an edge in relationships with the opposite sex.
Unlike Azeroth's humans, who were descended from Titan constructs and had a robust, rugged appearance, Alaric hailed from Earth.
Azeroth's humans, evolved from Titan creations, had broader skeletons and muscular builds compared to Earth's.
Alaric was even slighter in stature, making him appear more delicate and youthful—almost baby-faced. At least, that was how women like Alleria and Aegwynn saw him.
And to make matters even more interesting, his features, exotic in Azeroth, were uniquely appealing to elves, provided his appearance was attractive enough.
Elves, after all, had an almost universal obsession with beauty.
Although Alaric stood at 1.8 meters tall and was well past the age of being a true "shota," to Alleria, a long-lived elf, he might as well have been.
This complex situation had turned Alaric into a "god" for young girls and a "shota" in the eyes of older women.
After realizing Alleria's peculiar affection for him, Alaric found himself conflicted.
On the one hand, while his youthful appearance might mislead others, his personality was anything but submissive.
He was assertive and independent, preferring to care for others rather than be cared for.
On the other hand, he knew that leveraging Alleria's unique feelings toward him could significantly deepen their bond and rapidly increase her favorability toward him.
Whether for personal or political purposes, this was a win-win.
But did it mean he had to temporarily set aside some of his masculine pride?
For someone as dominant as Alaric, the answer was obvious.
Not long after, Alaric began addressing the elven ranger as "Sister Alleria."
"Delightful surrender!"
He had no choice. It wasn't that Alaric lacked resolve—it was that the opponent's "assets" were overwhelming.
When Alleria insisted he call her "Sister Alleria," Alaric reluctantly complied, but the experience made him acutely aware of certain... voluminous realities.
Seriously, weren't elves supposed to be flat-chested? This completely defied the stereotype!
Even in human societies, women like this were exceedingly rare!
In the end, Alaric's strategic flattery brought him closer to Alleria. The elven ranger even invited him to visit her home in Windrunner Village and meet her family.
The prospect of meeting the famous Windrunner sisters and their parents intrigued Alaric greatly, but that would have to wait until his diplomatic mission was completed.
Under Alleria's guidance, Alaric's delegation traveled through the Eversong Woods, passing landmarks like the East Sanctum and Fairbreeze Village, before arriving at the high elves' illustrious capital: Silvermoon City.
Silvermoon City, founded thousands of years ago, was built by the highborne exiled by the night elves.
Led by Dath'Remar Sunstrider, they crossed the sea from Kalimdor to the Eastern Kingdoms, eventually settling in the northern forests of Lordaeron.
Using a vial of water from the Well of Eternity, Dath'Remar created the Sunwell, whose immense arcane energy allowed the high elves to construct Silvermoon.
With magic, they raised grand towers and elegant structures, completing the city.
The city's architecture mirrored the style of the Kaldorei Empire, constructed from white stone and interwoven with vibrant plant life, blending seamlessly with nature.
However, it was built atop the ruins of an ancient troll empire, sowing the seeds of the eternal feud between elves and trolls.
Despite numerous battles within Quel'Thalas over the millennia, Silvermoon City had never fallen. Its magical prowess rivaled that of Dalaran, standing as a beacon of arcane mastery.
Due to the elves' longevity, many chose to study magic in both cities, earning Silvermoon a stellar reputation even before Alaric's arrival.
At long last, Alaric led his delegation to their destination.
