Chapter 62: The Team 4
"Surrend—" The super soldier didn't even get to finish. A blur shot out from the vault, and he barely managed to block Terrence's hand.
But in the next instant, a huge burst of flames exploded, burning everything in the hallway.
The soldiers behind were caught in the fire too, and chaos broke out instantly.
"Oh you're not dead yet."
The super soldier, half-burned and with melted bulletproof vest, still charged forward.
It swung a large knife , but got blocked easily.
Without missing a beat, Terrence raised his leg and kicked the super soldier straight in the chest.
The force sent the soldier crashing into the wall, leaving a deep crack behind him.
Katya watched with wide eyes. She always thought he was just a bit stronger than a normal human .
Now she realized she had completely underestimated him.
Terrence shook his hand and cracked his knuckles, smiling in a sarcastic way.
"Hey, hey, is that it? I was expecting so much more from the Soviet Union's bio-human program,"
The super soldier growled, its body hissing and blackened from the burns, but its eyes still showed resistance.
"Yeah, that's it… Come on," Terrence gestured with his hand.
As if on cue, the enemy charged at him again.
This time, it moved even faster.
It suddenly stopped, then spun around for a powerful roundhouse kick aimed at the head.
But instead of backing away, Terrence stepped forward.
He disrupted the kick's momentum completely, grabbed the soldier's leg, and twisted.
Using the soldier's own strength against him, he swung him around and slammed him into the wall again.
"If this is all you've got, then there's no need to drag this out," Terrence spoke calmly.
He grabbed the super soldier's head with one hand and clenched tightly.
Brutally, a burst of flames shot from his palm, rushing into the soldier's mouth.
BOOOOM!
The head exploded, sending burned pieces scattering.
'I feel like I'm cheating,' he sighed to himself. It seemed the superhumans in this world were still less developed than he expected.
'Well, at least it made things a lot easier for me'
Turning around, Terrence called out to Katya.
"Let's go. We need to get out of here now."
She started moving toward him but stopped suddenly. She looked at Victor's lifeless body lying on the ground.
"Wait. Burn his body first. We can't leave any evidence behind."
Terrence glanced at the corpse for a moment, then nodded.
Katya took a deep breath and stepped toward Alexei, who was still unconscious.
She bent down and carefully lifted him onto her back, grunting from the weight.
Meanwhile, Terrence held out his hand. Flames flickered to life in his palm and quickly grew hotter.
The flames roared and swallowed the corpse in seconds.
Katya turned back to him, her face serious but relieved.
"Done?" she asked.
Terrence nodded once. "Done."
Without another word, they ran out of the vault together, the heat from the burned body still glowing behind them.
As they left the room, alarms still echoed through the mansion halls.
Katya adjusted Alexei on her back and readied her SMG.
Suddenly, a squad of guards appeared at the end of the hall.
"Contact!" she shouted, raising her gun and firing a quick burst. Two guard dropped instantly.
Terrence didn't rush in head-on. Instead, he pulled out his handgun and fired carefully, moving from cover to cover.
He didn't want to waste his mana on blocking bullets — he needed to save his strength.
Whenever he saw an opening, he dashed forward using a quick movement technique.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared beside a guard and crushed the man's throat with his bare hand before spinning away to avoid the next volley of bullets.
Katya kept moving forward, firing in short bursts to cover Terrence.
Another wave of soldiers appeared around the corner, shouting orders in Russian.
Bullets flew past them, chipping the walls and sparking off the marble floor.
Terrence ducked behind a pillar, reloaded, and then shot two guards in the legs to stop their advance.
He used the moment of confusion to rush forward again, slamming one soldier into the wall and snapping his neck.
Katya dropped three more enemies with precise shots, her face set in a hard, focused expression.
Terrence flipped over a low table and rolled behind another guard.
Before the man could react, Terrence slammed his fist into the guard's chest, crushing it completely.
"You're really brutal," Katya commented, her voice half shocked, half impressed.
"Sorry," Terrence scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "I'm just having a hard time controlling my strength."
In his past life, he always needed to use his full power just to kill a single powerful monster.
He could never afford to hold back, and now that habit was hard to break.
They didn't head for the yard — it was too open.
Guards would have clear shots at them the moment they stepped outside.
Many of them even had access to Gatling guns, their barrels already spinning and ready to fire.
From inside the mansion, Terrence could see trucks circling the yard, each one mounted with heavy guns on top.
But strangely, no one was rushing inside — until three figures suddenly broke through the windows, guns blazing.
One of them even wielded a machine gun as if it were a normal rifle, spraying bullets like it was unlimited.
"On the ground, now!" Terrence shouted, just as a hail of bullets tore through the air.
Katya survived, but Alexie was riddled with rounds, his body shielding her from the deadly bullets.
Knowing they were in serious trouble, Terrence acted fast.
He raised his hand and sent a strong blast of wind at the three attackers.
The wind hit knocked them off balance.
This quick distraction was just enough for him to move.
He dashed forward, drawing all their attention to him and away from the female mercenary.
"I was wondering where the other Sups were… so you've been preparing!" Terrence shouted from behind a pillar.
The super soldier with the machine gun started shooting again, and his aim was scary accurate — he could handle the heavy recoil like it was nothing.
Terrence was forced to keep moving, jumping from one hiding spot to another, while the other two soldiers rushed at him from different angles, trying to corner him.
Frustrated, he decided to take out the closest one first — the one carrying a Desert Eagle.
Bang!
Even though he was hit by a bullet, he pushed through the pain and kept moving forward.
Once he got close enough, he unleashed his flames, burning the super soldier alive by sending fire straight into his mouth, the heat exploding from the inside out.
The machine gun soldier kept firing, so he grabbed the burning body and used it as a shield.
Bullets tore through the corpse, and it gave Terrence just enough time.
SWOOSH!
He threw the corpse at the machine gun soldier as a distraction.
Quickly, he drew his own pistol and started firing as he charged forward.
Just as he was about to reach the machine gunner, the other super soldier lunged in, swinging a heavy saber straight at him.
Terrence reacted fast, slamming his palms together to block the blade.
Sparks flew from the force of the clash, and the saber trembled against his hands.
But before he could counterattack, the machine gunner opened fire again.
Bullets ripped through the air, tearing chunks out of the walls and floor around him.
Terrence had no choice — he pushed the saber soldier away and dove behind cover again, the gunfire chasing him.
"That's it. No more Mr. Nice Guy,"
Flames burst to life around his hand, swirling wildly as he focused his mana.
Carefully, he started shaping the fire into a glowing ball.
This was a technique he never fully mastered in his past life.
But now, with the diamond in his hand boosting his fire element, he felt confident in pulling it off.
The ball began to shrink and take shape, its edges becoming smoother and more controlled as he carefully mixed wind into the process.
Soon, the wild, dancing tongues of fire pulled inward, becoming tighter and more focused.
In exchange, they glowed even brighter and burned hotter, radiating intense heat and power from his hand.
It looked like a miniature sun resting in his palm.
click!
The moment he heard the machine gunner start to reload, he threw the fireball.
When it slammed into the machine gunner, it exploded with a roar like a napalm blast.
BOOOM!
Fire swallowed everything in sight .
Furniture, paintings, even the walls — turning the whole area into a blazing inferno.
But he knew the explosion alone wasn't enough.
Using the chaos as his chance, he quickly aimed at the two wounded super soldiers, who were still screaming and writhing in pain.
He fired straight at their heads. Their skulls were tough — so hard that he needed to shoot multiple times to make sure they were really dead.
Only after the final shots echoed through the room did he lower his gun, breathing heavily.
Although his mana had increased a bit, using two elements at once still took a heavy toll on him.
Katya stood up. She looked unhurt, but her face was covered in blood — not her own, but Alexie's.
"Are you okay? Can you still move?"
She nodded weakly, and the two of them decided to make a run for it through the open garden.
This time, Terrence chose to carry her in his arms — it would be faster, and he didn't want to risk her slowing down or falling behind.
