Chapter 94: Chapter 94- Stop messing up
"Alright, I'll give it a try!" said Kuroo with a mischievous grin on his face as he held the ball for a moment before tossing it up and executing a powerful jump serve that flew toward Karasuno's court.
"WHAT?! Looks like Kuroo-kun decided to come up with new weapons since the last time he lost! Did you teach him that?" Bokuto exclaimed loudly as he watched Kuroo pull off a jump serve for the first time, turning to Gora for answers.
"No... I didn't..." Gora replied, utterly confused as to why Bokuto would think he had taught Kuroo that, especially since they had only just reunited after months at the training camp. But he decided not to press the matter.
"I've got this!" Tanaka said as he moved to receive the serve.
"Damn it! Cover me!" Tanaka shouted after the ball hit his wrists, causing him to fumble the receive and send the ball flying to the other side of the court.
"Hinata!" Kageyama yelled as he ran toward the ball, setting it with a bump pass to Hinata, who was already preparing to jump. As Hinata leaped for the spike, he was met with a triple block from Lev, Kenma, and Yamamoto. Mid-air, Hinata noticed that Lev's arms were too far apart, leaving a huge gap between them. With a quick and skillful move, Hinata slammed the ball through the gap in Lev's block, sending it straight to Nekoma's court and scoring another point for Karasuno.
2-2 Tied.
"It's not gonna be that easy to stop me, Lev!" Hinata said triumphantly after scoring the point.
"This isn't over! I'm still gonna take you down!" Lev replied enthusiastically, seemingly unfazed by the loss.
"LEV, YOU IDIOT! I TOLD YOU NOT TO WAVE THOSE GIANT ARMS AROUND WHEN YOU BLOCK! YOU'RE NOT GONNA STOP ANYONE LIKE THAT!" Kuroo shouted, smacking Lev on the head.
Nekoma Substitutions: Kuroo out, Yaku in.
Karasuno Substitutions: Nishinoya out, Asahi in.
After Karasuno's point, it was Tsukishima's turn to serve, sending the ball back to Nekoma's court, where Yaku received it effortlessly.
"Nice receive," Kenma said, quickly glancing at Yamamoto to draw the attention of Karasuno's blockers before setting the ball to Lev for a quick attack. Lev faced a triple block from Asahi, Daichi, and Hinata, but his whip-like spike managed to slip past the block and head straight for Tsukishima, who tried to receive it but felt the ball slam violently into his wrists and fly away.
3-2 Nekoma.
"HEHE, that's how the Ace of Nekoma does it!" Lev said with a proud grin.
"SINCE WHEN ARE YOU THE ACE?! IF THEY AIM THEIR SERVES AT YOU, WE'RE DONE FOR!" Yamamoto retorted, clearly offended by Lev calling himself the Ace of Nekoma.
"He might be bad at everything else, but that whip-like spike of his is really powerful and shouldn't be underestimated," Hinata observed.
"Yeah, we can't afford to be late reading the block. Aside from Hinata, we won't be able to get there in time, and he could just spike over the block..." Daichi added, wiping sweat from his forehead.
Karasuno Substitutions: Tsukishima out, Nishinoya in.
Now it was Yamamoto's turn to serve, and he sent the ball flying toward Karasuno's court.
"I've got it!" Nishinoya said as he smoothly received the ball.
"Nice receive!" Kageyama said, positioning himself under the ball.
"I've been forgetting to practice my feints... so here goes!" Kageyama thought with determination as he faked a set to Hinata, hoping to confuse Nekoma's blockers.
"IT'S DEFINITELY GOING TO HINATA!" Lev shouted energetically, jumping to block Hinata, only to see the ball leave Kageyama's hands and go to Asahi for a quick attack that easily scored for Karasuno.
3-3 Tied.
"LEV! PREVENTIVE BLOCKING, PREVENTIVE BLOCKING! I'VE TOLD YOU FIVE HUNDRED TIMES!" Kuroo yelled, losing his cool from the bench.
"MY BAD!" Lev said with a mischievous smile, not really seeming to listen to Kuroo.
"Nice point, Asahi-san!" Hinata praised as he grabbed the ball to go to the serving position.
"It was a good set, as always, from Kageyama. Not to mention your feint that made it so easy to get past the block..." Asahi said humbly.
"It was nothing!" Kageyama replied respectfully.
"Alright, let's do this!" Hinata thought as he held the ball, preparing to serve.
"Bring it on!" Yaku said with an excited smile.
"There you go, having fun again, Yaku-san!" Yamamoto complained about Yaku's enthusiasm for receiving Hinata's serves.
"Hmm... the backline only has experienced players who are really good at receives... If Lev were in the back, I could just use my speed-focused serve to target him, but in this case..." Hinata thought as he tossed the ball up, jumped, and slammed it with all his might, using his power-focused serve toward Nekoma's court.
"I've got it!" Yaku said as he positioned himself to receive the ball. However, when he tried to make the receive, he felt the ball hit his arm with tremendous force and fly out of bounds.
"It's even stronger than before!" Yaku said with a smile, seeming to enjoy the challenge.
Hinata served again toward Nekoma's court, and Yaku once again moved toward the ball with determination in his eyes, this time successfully receiving Hinata's serve.
"Tsk! This guy is really annoying!" Hinata thought as he watched his serve get stopped.
"Nice receive," Kenma said in his usual monotone voice as he faked a set to Lev but instead executed a dump that caught Karasuno's defense off guard.
4-4 Tied.
After Kenma's point, he picked up the ball and went to the serving position, executing a standard serve that went toward Karasuno's court. Nishinoya received it easily.
"This guy... he wants to do it..." Kageyama thought as he positioned himself under the ball, watching Hinata already running and preparing to jump for the super-quick back attack they hadn't used since the match against Seijoh.
"Alright, let's do it..." Kageyama sighed, making a subtle and perfect set to Hinata, who was already in the air at the back of the court, spiking the ball over the block.
5-4 Karasuno.
