Guide To Reign My Tycoon Husbands

Chapter 630: The Harsh Way

Qi Yongrui stiffened. He turned and looked at Nan Wu. The little mer was looking at him with a hint of worry on his face. He walked over and looked at Qi Yongrui anxiously. "Did we cause trouble for Aunt Luo?"

Nan Wu came out of his room because he was feeling thirsty. He wanted to drink some milk and go back to sleep, but he never thought that he would hear Ye Jinglan speaking lies to everyone about how Luo Huian had kidnapped them and was now keeping them away from Ye Jinglan, who was naturally rather worried about them.

Nan Wu couldn't believe that an adult like Ye Jinglan was lying so easily. He clearly did not care about them, but now he was saying that he cared for them like they were his children and was worried that Luo Huian and her husbands might be tormenting him and his sister, when the truth was that he never cared about them. He would leave them to starve and even lock them up.

So why did no one believe Luo Huian?

She was a good auntie who cared for him and his sister. She even took them to pick strawberries.

"No, you didn't." Qi Yongrui picked the mer up and brought him to his lap. He softly comforted the mer, "This has nothing to do with you. Sometimes people do bad things because they are evil and not because someone asked them to do it. Your stepfather is a bad person, and he is doing such things because, well, he is not getting what he wants."

"You should learn from this, and when you grow up, try to be a better person than your stepfather. Someone whom your sister will be proud of and not be ashamed of, alright? Because if you grew up to become someone like your stepfather, it would be a waste of effort on your aunt Luo's part, who is doing everything to protect you from your stepfather."

"I understand", Nan Wu nodded and agreed. He said to Qi Yongrui, "I will try to become a better person. One who will make my sister and Aunt Luo proud. I don't want to become someone like him."

Nan Wu was utterly disgusted by Ye Jinglan. The mer had taken money from Aunt Luo and still said that she had caused him trouble. Nan Wu might be young, but he knew everything. His sister had told him everything; don't you try to treat him like a fool. He knew that Ye Jinglan had taken the money from Aunt Luo, and only then did he allow them to stay with the Luo family. Now that he had taken the money, he was telling everyone that he was the one who was suffering. It was too much!

Though Nan Wu had such thoughts, he didn't say them out loud; his sister had told him that he should keep such matters in his heart because adults didn't like children who were way too sharp. If he dared to say such words, then he would be disliked. Naturally, he didn't want to be disliked. He cared about how Luo Huian and Qi Yongrui perceived him, which was why he was acting docile; if not, he would have said some really colourful words.

Qi Yongrui, on the other hand, had no idea that the mer in his lap had so many thoughts. He was only worried about Nan Wu learning all kinds of bad things from Ye Jinglan. He raised his head and looked at the mer who was still speaking and turned off the television. He then picked up Nan Wu and took him to the kitchen, as he knew that the mer had the habit of drinking milk before sleeping.

The two of them had their own thoughts and didn't speak a word.

Qi Yongrui helped Nan Wu by warming up his milk before returning to his room. When he saw Luo Huian sitting on the bed and reading a book, he walked over and sat down next to her.

Luo Huian raised her head and glanced at him. Realising that the mer had something to say to her, Luo Huian placed the book down. She turned to look at the mer and then questioned, "What do you want to say?"

"I wanted to apologise. I know that you don't want to hear it, but I still want to say it. It was I who was at fault when I agreed to bring the kids to the farmhouse without listening to you. I should have known that Ye Jinglan would try something like this, but I was too conceited, thinking that money can solve everything, but I forgot that there were people whose greed knows no bounds," Qi Yongrui spoke solemnly.

His eyes reddened. He thought about how he was still so naive. Even after the harassment that he had suffered at the hands of the Qi family, how could he foolishly think that human hearts could be understood? He was the one who was acting idiotically, thinking that he knew things better than Lui Huian.

When the truth was that his wife knew everything way better than he did.

"It's good that you know." Luo Huian was not going to tell Qi Yongrui that he did not make a mistake when he clearly did. She had nothing against the mer trying to save the two kids, but she hoped that the mer would understand that there was no point in showing kindness without thinking his actions through.

There was no point in helping others with the oxygen masks when he himself was on the verge of suffocation!

What was the point of helping others when he couldn't even help himself?

Qi Yongrui lowered his head in embarrassment. "However, as long as you understand your mistakes, you have already made up for all the wrongs that you have done. I mean, there is no point in wasting your breath and saying sorry if you don't even understand what you have done wrong. From the next time, try to stop and think about what will happen to your family before you rush out and help someone out of the goodness of your heart."

"I am not saying that you should ignore someone who is dying. Saving a life is even better than building a seven-layer pagoda, but you need to learn how much and how long you can help someone. When you choose to help someone, you need to consider how long you can even help them."

"Nan Zhi and Nan Wu are not related you; you have no right to interfere in their lives. Even if you somehow manage to save them once, do you think you can save them in the future? And even if you plan to adopt them, do you think that Ye Jinglan would have allowed you to take them away without benefiting? That mer is like a leech who would have given up his life rather than letting those kids leave. Were you planning on raising Ye Jinglan along with those children? It's clear from his selfishness that he would rather die than give up sucking the blood of those children like a vampire."

"And if you cannot adopt them, what's the point of giving momentary happiness to those kids? As you have already heard, staying in poverty is not difficult, but living a life full of riches and then going back to poverty is difficult. Have you ever thought about what the kids would feel when you give them care for a few days and then send them back to the hell they escaped from? They might not even feel grateful but might even start resenting them."

The more Luo Huian spoke, the more Qi Yongrui's face turned red. It was not that he was a fool, but he truly didn't consider things thoroughly. He just wanted to help Nan Zhi and Nan Wu because they reminded him of the pain and suffering that he went through as a child, but now he realised that sometimes some kindness was better left undone.

After all, in the eyes of others, the Qi family had helped him greatly, but only Qi Yongrui knew that it was better to be left alone in the orphanage rather than be taken to the Qi house.

"I understand. I didn't think things through and made trouble for not only you but also the children." What was the point of caring for them for a few days when he was going to push them back to the very hell he pulled them out of?

Qi Yongrui felt troubled, but he had no idea. What was he even going to do now that things had come to this point?

Luo Huian didn't say anything. She had already planned everything, but if she continued to help these mers, how would they grow? She had nothing against them, keeping them protected. But neither of them wanted to stay in a world that was bubble-wrapped; since that was the case, she could only raise them the harsh way.
