Seeing the titans of earth and rock launch towards him, for a moment, Adam couldn't help but feel suffocated.

The speed of the golems belied thier size. Before Adam knew it, the four of them had already appeared before him and launched a devastating punch.

Adam's pupils dilated as he willed the Sphere of Resonance to work at maximum capacity. His observational capabilities increased exponentially.

In that moment, he knew that it was too late to cast a spell. It was also too late to evade.

All he could do was defend!

The youth conjured the Staff of Calamity and started to spin it before him. He roared at the top of his lungs and injected a large amount of mana into his staff.

Large overlapping walls of oscillating mana were erected just in the nick of time.

Staff of Doom: Great Barrier!

The four humongous fists connected with the barrier. Adam gritted his teeth and tried his best to stand his ground, however, he was only able to manage for a few seconds before he was hurled into the distance.

Meanwhile, only a few large cracks had appeared on all the golems' rocky fists.

"Oh?" The Joker turned towards the direction Adam had landed in, and couldn't help but marvel, "What an interesting staff. I wonder where he got it?"

Suddenly, he sensed something and turned around. He lowered his head and saw a chubby gray cat looking at him angrily.

"Eh?" The Joker's lips twitched. The next moment, his eyes flashed with a curious light. "Wait a minute, aren't you the little one who lives in the lad's mind?"

The Joker crouched and reached out to pat the chubby cat.

"Myu!" Valerian swatted the man's hand away. "Why are you bullying my brother?"

The Joker's heart was warmed. He displayed a gentle smile and said, "Little one, I am not bullying him. I am testing him."

"Testing?" Valerian asked with a suspicious look in his eyes. "No matter how I see it, this doesn't look like a test. You are bullying him!"

The Joker shrugged. "The test has to be difficult because what he has asked for is extremely valuable."

"Valuable?" The young dragon's interest was piqued. "Is it gold?"

"Fafafa!" The Joker laughed out loud. Then, in one swift motion, he gently grabbed Valerian and rose to his feet.

"Myu! Put me down! I will fight you!" Valerian protested. But that's all he could do.

The Joker turned towards Adam, who was slowly emerging from the crater, and spoke, "What he seeks is far more valuable than gold, little one."

He paused for a moment before adding, "Theremore, I must strictly test him to see if he is worthy."

"My brother is the most worthy! Hmph!" Valerian crossed his arms and proclaimed proudly.

Hearing his response, the Joker chuckled, "I hope so too, little one."

He then looked at Valerian with an inquisitive gaze and couldn't help but ask, "You have the ability to travel to someone's mind… You're not a cat, are you?"

"Hmph!" Valerian raised his chin and spoke arrogantly, "Of course, not! I am a mighty…"

His words trailed off, and a drop of sweat trickled down his furry head. He recalled Adam's stern warning about never revealing his true identity to any powerful being.

And to him, the Joker was a very powerful being!

He raised his head and glanced at the man with beady and innocent eyes. He then spoke in an adorable manner, "I'm a cat! Myu~"

The sleeves of Adam's robes had torn from that exchange earlier. And not just that, his entire arms were numb. Moreover, the nails on his fingers had cracked open, spewing blood.

Despite all of that, there was a wide grin on his face.

"Yes," he growled. "This is more like it!"

The four earth golems had already walked towards him. They were standing before him and gazing at him with unkind intentions.

Each one of these golems' faces was carved in the likeness of a demon. They appeared rather frightening and ominous, but to Adam, they were the perfect training dummies!

Unless a golem's core was taken care of, it would always regenerate using the materials it was made of in the first place.

These golems were made of earth, mud, and rocks. There was an abundance of them in the expansive grassy plain where the battle was taking place.

Adam paced back and forth before the golems, his strides calm and steady. "I've been meaning to test out the Hand of Doom on my staff," he said.

"But in my last battle, I was unable to." His lips formed a grin as he casually swung his staff around him. "Had to kill the enemies. No time to play."

"But today!" He roared in excitement, pointing the Staff of Calamity towards the towering earth golems.

"I will use you to temper my staff techniques!"

Although the golems were not sentient beings, they were created in a manner that allowed them to sense hostility when directed at them.

When Adam pointed his staff towards them, they clenched their fists and roared towards him.

One of them launched towards him, while the rest surrounded him, blocking his path of escape.

Adam's grin turned wider. He stood his ground and patiently waited for the golem to arrive before him.

He positioned his staff vertically as he gathered a tremendous amount of mana on it. The mana expenditure was so immense that he could practically notice the difference instantaneously.

This technique of the Hand of Doom expended a ridiculous amount of mana from the user. It was also a technique that Adam had never used before.

Firstly, his mana reserves as a Rank 2 Magus were nearly not enough to execute this technique. Secondly, this technique caused devastating effects in the surroundings, and he couldn't use it recklessly.

But here… he could go all out!

The air around the Staff of Calamity began to distort as Adam's mana covered every inch of it.

When the golem was only a few tens of meters away from him, he finally attacked.

In a swift motion, Adam brought down the staff vertically. In that moment, time seemed to have come to a standstill, and all the colors in the world faded.

The golem seemed to have realized the immense danger it was in, however, there was nothing it could do about it.

Adam had already executed the technique. He swung the staff down in one fluid motion and swiped the space before him.
