Gol D. Ace In Coiling Dragon

Chapter 355: Book 7: Part 8 – Sovereign Backstory

Unfortunately, due to the fact that Orloff had just started condensing his Overgods body, they would have to wait another year before they began. Still, there was a lot that needed to be done before they began.

For starters, it wouldn't just be Ace's group bearing witness to this. Like before, it would be open to all the leading figures of the Yulan Plan. Be it the descendants of the world-renowned Gol Clan, the various geniuses of the Yin-Yang Pavilion – be they students or Elders – the descendants of the Four Supreme Warrior Clans, or the top figures among the various other leading forces that had popped up in the last few thousand years, they would all be awarded a viewing place, but that was just the beginning.

Aside from them, Ace and the others decided to allow Linley and Garott to allow the members of the Four Divine Beasts Clan a spot.

It may not sound like a lot when put like that, but the Four Divine Beast Clan alone had several million members, all of whom were given the opportunity to participate.

It was because of the large number of people participating that all the Sovereigns had to stop focusing on their individual training to create a viewing platform large enough for everyone.

Although the viewing platform couldn't be called a true divine plane, it was no different than the pocket dimension Beirut had created many moons ago, the same pocket dimension that Ace and his Gol clan had later founded and benefitted greatly from, only on a far larger scale.

Aside from that, there were still a few other matters that needed handling, namely deciding who each of the unused Sovereign Sparks they had in their position would go to.

It had to be remembered that, aside from the Darkness-type Lesser Sovereign Spark that Ace had claimed after killing Yoruna, they also had Bluefire's Fire-type Lesser Sovereign Spark and Augusta's former Light-type Chief Sovereign Spark.

When the topic was first brought up, many automatically assumed that even if it didn't go directly to Ace, it would go to those around him, but once again, Ace shocked them by saying he and his group had no interest in relying on the Sovereign Sparks.

His words were short, but everyone immediately understood their implication. Ace was indirectly suggesting that they intended to break through on their own terms. If anyone else had said those words, they would've been laughed at, but they had all witnessed Ace accomplishing the impossible time and time again.

When asked about it, Ace didn't reveal too much; all he said was that all would be revealed in due time.

As curious as they were, it was clear that Ace wasn't willing to say any more. As such, all they could do was deliberate over who would receive the three Sovereign Sparks.

The next obvious choice was those of Linley's group. Even though there was still a clear-cut difference between Ace and Linley's group, Linley's group were still a group of monsters in their own right – the ones with the worst potential were Wharton and Gates, both of whom had the bloodline of a first generation descendant of the Four Ancestors, as for the rest, each of them were either soul mutates or Apex Divine Beasts.

But Ace had clearly previously spoken to Ace, as Linley announced that they had also chosen not to rely on the Sovereign Sparks.

The various Sovereigns participating in the discussion proposed many potential talents they had come across whose loyalty could undoubtedly be bought with a Sovereign Spark.

They understood that the threat of war was looming, and their enemies this time were Overgods and Sovereigns. And as powerful as they, Aiden, and Orloff were, it was far from enough; as such, the best way to bolster their force's power was to give the Sovereign Sparks to unique lifeforms whose baseline power level was far superior to their peers.

Everyone mentioned was, at the very least, an Apex Divine Beast or a soul mutate, but what the various Sovereigns didn't understand was that whether it was Ace or Aiden, although both understood the gravity of their situation, neither intended to use any of the Sovereigns on their side as what could only be described as cannon-fodder in the face of an Overgod.

Because of that, all those mentioned were ultimately rejected, and in the end, the Darkness-type Lesser Sovereign spark went to Alyssa's adoptive grandfather, Caesar, who had only recently become a High God after merely fusing four Profound Mysteries of the Laws of Darkness.

Bluefire's former Fire-type Sovereign Spark ended up going to Mathias' wife, Lauriella. Who, of all those chosen in the end, was the only one who was reluctantly accepted by the various Sovereigns, being that she had the bloodline purity of a first-generation descendant of the Vermillion Bird Ancestor and had also recently broken through to the High God realm after fusing five mysteries of the Laws of Fire.

As for Augusta's former Light-type Chief Sovereign Spark, that obviously went to Aiden's wife, Arianna.

Although she had no unique bloodline, nor was she a soul mutate, she was the beloved wife of an Overgod; as a result, she was even more accepted than Lauriella. Plus, she had recently become a paragon of both the Laws and the Concept of Light.

With that decided, Aiden brought up the last thing on his agenda. As it stood, among them, they had a Sovereign capable of creating a miniature Divine Plane for most of the Laws and Edicts, but they were still missing a few, namely the Edicts of Life and Death and the Laws of Lightning.

All things considered, it was good enough, but this time, Aiden wasn't going for good enough – he wanted perfection or as close to it as he could get; as such, they needed to either kill at least one Sovereign of each element or find a way to convince them to join their side, even if only temporarily.

As soon as those words were said, everyone looked at Aiden as he obviously had the power to easily kill the most powerful of Sovereigns, but Aiden then explained that, although he wasn't opposed to killing and looting Sovereign Sparks, doing so would put their enemies in a state of high alert.

If desperate enough, the spirits of the Overgods of the Four Edicts may take extreme measures to deal with him.

Aiden didn't explain much more than that, but everyone knew that, unless it was a last resort, Aiden didn't want to take action, especially not personally.

It was then that Augusta explained that he could probably convince one of the Sovereigns of the Edict of Life and Death.

When asked how he explained that among the Chief Sovereigns of the Four Edicts, although they had never officially split into sides, Orloff had an especially close relationship with Imoiya – the Chief Sovereign of Death. It was to the point where Imoiya saw Orloff as something of an older brother.

Still, she wasn't a fool - even if she didn't know all the details, she definitely knew enough to understand that war was looming and their side was very much the underdogs. As much as she cared about Orloff, their relationship hadn't reached the point where she would directly agree to join their side, but with that being said, Augusta believed that as long as he went as Orloff's representative and made the offer as appealing as possible, at the very least, she would likely agree to help them create a Divine Plane of Death.

As he said that, Augusta turned to Aiden, and everyone understood what he was implying – Augusta wanted Aiden's permission to reveal the method of cultivating Concepts.

Aiden gave his permission but asked how he intended to convince one of the Sovereigns of Life.

Augusta then explained that Imoiya was the wife of one of the current Lesser Sovereigns of Life, Idarr – the Abyssal Tree that permanently resided on the Abyssal Mountain.

According to Augusta, similar to Hemmers, both Imoiya and Idarr were special lifeforms born in the Nether World. In fact, they were among the first creatures of the Nether Realm.

When the first Sovereign Spark of Death was birthed in the Nether Realm, of the two, only Imoiya had broken through to become a High God – apparently, whilst Imoiya focused all of her intentions on her comprehension of the Edict of Death, Idarr split his attention between the both the Edicts of Life and Death.

Still, even as a Full God, as an ancient, unique lifeform, Idarr was able to support his wife, allowing her to secure her position as Chief Sovereign.

After that, with her power as a Chief Sovereign, it would've been simplicity in and of itself for Imoiya to help her husband secure a Death-type Sovereign Spark, but although talented in the Edict of Death, he had a higher affinity to the Edict of Life; as such the two ventured into the Life Realm.

By the time they arrived, most of the Life-type Sovereign Sparks had already been born, so when the final Lesser Sovereign Spark of Life was formed, the two were more determined to get it than they would've otherwise been.

That battle featured a couple of paragons, one of which was even the head emissary of Wawaya – the Chief Sovereign of Life – but in front of a Sovereign, none were capable of lifting a finger.

The duo just took the Sovereign Spark and were about to leave when Wawaya arrived on the scene.

Wawaya didn't mind who won the Sovereign Spark in the end, as long as they were a native of her Life Realm – she likely wanted to make sure that all the Life-type Sovereigns were loyal to the Life Realm, so her anger at the time could've been imagined.

Not wanting to anger a fellow Chief Sovereign unnecessarily, Imoiya tried to bargain with her Life-type counterpart, saying that as long as she let this go, Imoiya would return to her Nether World and kill one of her Lesser Sovereigns and give Wawaya the Spark to do as she pleased with. Unfortunately, Wawaya wasn't interested, and as both were determined to keep the Life-type spark, the first battle between Chief Sovereigns took place.

Both were extremely rare unique lifeforms and Chief Sovereigns of their respective Edicts; as such, both were absolute monsters, but unlike Imoiya, Wawaya had already become a paragon. But before Wawaya could kill Imoiya, Orloff appeared.

Orloff stopped the battle on the basis that he didn't want any of his fellow Chief Sovereigns to be killed unnecessarily.

In the end, seeing how much Imoiya wanted the Sovereign Spark for her husband, Orloff volunteered to pay on her behalf.

Whilst Imoiya was given the Lesser Sovereign Spark of Death, Orloff gave Wawaya a Supreme Technique he had personally developed to strengthen his body to the level of an Apex Divine Beast despite being a mortal, which also happened to be almost perfectly tailored for Wawaya.

After hearing that, everyone understood the reason behind Augusta's confidence in recruiting Imoiya and her husband.
