Chapter 5: The Final Wings
Golden wings…
That was Ghidorah…
Ghidorah was awakening…
“How is this possible…”
Inside the space station, people couldn’t comprehend what was happening.
Ghidorah’s wings emerged from the steel ground, indicating Ghidorah’s awakening.
But how could this be?
How could Ghidorah’s body still have energy after 450 million years!
Even if Ghidorah was a creature from beyond the solar system, even if it could travel between star systems, it only took hundreds of thousands of years to travel from one star system to another. That was a thousand times less than 450 million years. Moreover, in the cosmos, there were stars and various planets to sustain Ghidorah.
With Ghidorah’s size, even if it had feigned death completely, the energy inside its body should have been depleted during this long period. Titans could survive for tens of millions of years, but that was assuming they continually fed!
Ghidorah had no food… So how did Ghidorah manage to survive?
In the unseen depths of the underground, the golden wings overturned the steel earth, completely destroying the iron layers above.
*Boom, boom, boom, boom…*
The land of steel trembled, and then, a high-pitched roar broke through the iron layers and shot into the sky.
“Roar!”
The underground iron layers were pushed hundreds of meters above ground by an unimaginable force, tearing apart massive pieces of steel. Eventually, the golden spikes pierced through the steel earth, accompanied by an incomparably long and golden neck emerging from the deepest underground.
Billions of tons of steel could no longer contain the presence beneath the ground. The three necks of the Golden King pushed billions of tons of steel on their necks, like sprouting spring buds, fully revealed.
The bald head alone exceeded 300 meters. Ghidorah’s insect-like, dragon-like, alien head shook off the remaining steel debris, and with tremendous effort, it pulled out one wing and two tails from the depths of the Earth’s crust, which weighed tens of trillions of tons, had a diameter of 22 kilometers, and was three kilometers thick.
“Roar!”
The roars of Ghidorah’s three heads turned into shockwaves, and its entire body emitted a dazzling light. Then, in the next moment, an unprecedented spectacle appeared on the entire Venus.
From the perspective of space, a corner of the Maxwell Mountains suddenly erupted with unimaginable light, followed by a thunderstorm visible even in space.
Super lightning, that was what those extremely powerful lightning bolts capable of delivering trillions, quadrillions, or even quintillions of watts were called on Earth.
But now, that term was outdated.
The dense atmosphere of Venus, which had persisted for billions of years, was incredibly ionized, and a superstorm capable of overturning the surface began to form around the Maxwell Mountains. Trillions of watts, quadrillions of watts of ultra-super lightning spread throughout the storm, and the superstorm reached wind speeds exceeding 100 meters per second as it rapidly grew.
This was already beyond any storm in Earth’s history.
But its speed was still increasing, and it quickly became a storm with a diameter exceeding 6,000 kilometers, with a maximum wind speed of 120 meters per second, equivalent to Category 27 on Earth’s hurricane scale. It could engulf the entire Venus!
The density of the atmosphere making up this storm was 90 times that of Earth! Its atmospheric pressure reached 80 tons per square meter, enough to sweep away everything on the surface.
The surface was overturned on a large scale, and the Maxwell Mountains, which had existed on Venus for hundreds of millions of years, began to collapse. From space, half of Venus was engulfed.
And at the very center of this storm, Ghidorah extended its wings and tails from the molten sea of iron, shaking off the melted residue.
“Roar!”
Its entire body released golden lightning, striking the wings and bodies of various Ghidorah scattered in the molten sea of iron.
It was rebooting them, just like humans inadvertently rebooted it.
Yes, Ghidorah hadn’t fallen into a state of pseudo-death. Humanity’s expectations were correct. Even Ghidorah couldn’t survive for 450 million years without consuming anything. So, during these 450 million years, Ghidorah was indeed dead.
The people of Venus had used their ultimate weapon in the final battle to simultaneously halt Ghidorah’s activities, successfully killing Ghidorah.
Every cell, every tissue in its body had already died at that time, with no activity remaining.
But due to the unique nature of the material making up its body, it didn’t age or decay. Instead, it remained intact, just as it was before ceasing its activity.
Even the fuel in its reactor remained perfectly preserved.
In this state, Ghidorah was like an engine with fuel, just waiting for someone to provide the initial ignition energy. Then it could start from the smallest chemical reactor, gradually gain more energy, and finally ignite its main fusion reactor, returning to its peak state immediately.
And so, humans did just that; they provided Ghidorah with the initial energy.
This couldn’t be blamed on humanity, for after all, monsters were beings beyond human understanding. Humans simply did their best within the limits of their understanding.
Godzilla, Titans, no matter how extraordinary, could still be proven to exist within the realm of human physics.
But Ghidorah was different.
Ghidorah’s golden wings spread wide, then expanded further and continued to do so, transforming its wing membranes and skeleton from the overlapping state seen from underground into something even broader and more colossal.
“Roar!”
Its two wings spread open and then suddenly struck downward. Billions of tons of atmosphere were struck below by an incomparable force, causing hundred-meter-high waves in the sea of molten iron. By this time, Ghidorah had already taken to the high skies.
It soared through the storm, countless thunderbolts striking its body. Ghidorah’s surface temperature had exceeded that of the sun, but it only emitted comfortable roars in response.
Ghidorah’s golden figure soared through Venus’ storm, and satellites other than the space station also witnessed this scene. People watched the golden figure and didn’t know what to say.
Awakened Ghidorah was flying on the surface of Venus, reshaping the environment as it flew, steering Venus toward deeper abysses.
“So, this is Ghidorah…”
The completely unexpected turn of events left everyone in the space station at a loss for words. They had never anticipated that their actions would awaken the colossal beast.
Why could Ghidorah awaken? Why could Ghidorah rise again after 450 million years of silence? Why could Ghidorah become active with just a tiny amount of energy?
They didn’t know.
And they would never get the chance to know.
Because from the storm on Venus, more golden figures were flying toward the entire world and…
Space.
Golden light radiated from their mouths.
April 12, 2208, 23:12.
Confirmation of the destruction of the Venus Space Station.
Confirmation of Ghidorah’s escape and…
Confirmation that some of Ghidorah’s wings were heading towards Earth.
The first batch of Ghidorah’s wings was expected to arrive in 40 days.
Meanwhile, deep in the Pacific Ocean, Godzilla stirred.
There were 24 days left until Godzilla’s awakening.
