Godly Beggar

Chapter 2: A Fresh Start

The year was 2032. The world had grown more advanced, with modern skyscrapers towering over bustling cities like Seladang City. The city, always alive and moving, seemed peaceful to most. But for Jiang Han, peace was a distant dream.

Jiang Han was the lead programmer at TitanTech Industries, one of the largest corporations in Malayuna. His talent and skills in programming had earned him respect in his field, but not everyone appreciated his success. His life, once full of potential, had turned into a nightmare.

It started with small annoyances—strange looks from his colleagues, whispers behind his back. Soon, these annoyances grew into something far worse. Someone was out to destroy him.

Jiang Han leaned back in his office chair, his tired eyes fixed on the glowing screen in front of him. His fingers hovered over the holographic keyboard, but his mind was elsewhere.

"Hey, Jiang Han," said a voice from the doorway.

It was Derek, one of his few work acquaintances. Derek smiled, but there was something off about it.

"You've been looking rough lately. Everything okay?"

Jiang Han forced a weak smile. "Just tired."

Derek shrugged and walked away, leaving Jiang Han to his thoughts. He didn't know that Derek was part of the reason for his misery.

The root of Jiang Han's troubles lay with Ang Xuan Ming, the spoiled son of a wealthy tycoon. Jiang Han had unknowingly offended Xuan Ming during a company project, outshining him with his hard work and talent. Even worse, Xuan Ming had seen Wang Jia Qi, a woman he admired, speak kindly to Jiang Han at a company event.

Xuan Ming's jealousy burned. "No one humiliates me like that," he had said to his lackeys. "I want him gone. Ruin his life."

At first, the harassment was subtle. Jiang Han's car was scratched. Anonymous calls accused him of owing large sums of money. Then, the attacks became personal. Thugs cornered him on the street, their threats turning into violent beatings.

"Boss Xuan Ming sends his regards," they sneered as fists and kicks landed.

The physical injuries left him limping. His mental state wasn't much better. Work became unbearable as rumours spread about his "incompetence." His colleagues avoided him. Even Derek, who occasionally pretended to care, didn't help.

Jiang Han's health spiralled. Exhaustion, stress, and fear took their toll. Visits to the doctor confirmed his worst fears—his body was failing.

Then came the final blow. Wang Jia Qi, the woman he had quietly loved, ended their friendship.

"I'm sorry, Jiang Han," she said, her voice soft but firm. "I can't be around you anymore. It's… too much."

Jiang Han watched her walk away, feeling like the last piece of his crumbling life had shattered.

"Career and love," he muttered bitterly. "Double whammy."

On a cold, rainy night, Jiang Han's life reached its breaking point. He walked home under a flimsy umbrella, his steps slow and heavy.

A black van screeched to a halt beside him. The door slid open, and several men stepped out.

"Well, look who it is," their leader said, smirking. "Time to finish the job."

Jiang Han didn't bother running. He was too tired, too broken. The men surrounded him, their fists flying. Each blow sent pain shooting through his body.

First blood.

Double kill.

Triple kill.

Quadra kill.

"Quadra kill?" Jiang Han thought weakly, a grim smile tugging at his lips. "What is this, a video game?"

As the world turned dark, his last thought was filled with regret. Is this really how my story ends?

Back to 2012: A Second Chance

Jiang Han woke with a start, sunlight streaming through a nearby window. The chatter of students and the faint hum of a ceiling fan filled his ears.

He blinked, confused. The last thing he remembered was the rain, the pain, the beating. But now…

Jiang Han sat up, his surroundings slowly coming into focus. Desks are arranged neatly in rows. A chalkboard at the front of the room. A school crest on the wall—the unmistakable emblem of Divine Cross High School, Petraling Jaya.

His heart raced. "This… this is my old school," he whispered.

He looked down at his hands. They were smooth, unscarred, youthful.

Jiang Han stood and stumbled to the nearest restroom. He stared at the mirror, his reflection staring back at him.

The face was his, but not the face he had grown used to in the last few years. This face was younger, healthier—full of life.

"I've… gone back," Jiang Han murmured, disbelief thick in his voice.

Before he could process what was happening, a strange voice echoed in his mind.

[System Initialising… Begging System activated.]

Jiang Han froze. "What?"

[Welcome, Host. You are the sole participant of the Begging System. This system exists to help you rewrite your destiny. Complete missions, earn points and ascend to greatness. To begin, you must… beg.]

"Beg?!" Jiang Han exclaimed, his voice rising. "You're telling me the only way to activate this thing is to beg?"

[Correct. Please select your choice:]

1. Reject and face immediate bodily harm.

2. Beg now and unlock the Beginner Package.]

Jiang Han's frustration boiled over. He had spent his life building respect and independence, and now this so-called system wanted him to beg. It was humiliating.

But the words "bodily harm" sent a chill down his spine. He had already died once—he wasn't about to risk it again.

"Fine," he muttered through clenched teeth. "I'll do it. For now."

[Congratulations, Host. System activation successful.]

Suddenly, a wave of knowledge crashed into Jiang Han's mind. It felt overwhelming, yet strangely exhilarating.

[Beginner Package Rewards Granted.]

1. Legendary High School Knowledge: Comprehensive mastery of all high school material.

2. Talent Appraisal (Elementary): Instinctively gauge others' potential.

3. Legendary Poker Face: Unshakable calm, even in absurd situations.

As the information settled, Jiang Han straightened. His mind felt sharper than it ever had before. He clenched his fists, a new sense of purpose rising within him.

"This isn't just a second chance," he said, his voice steady. "This is an opportunity. I'll rise to the top this time. Not just in Petraling Jaya, but across all of Seladang City. No one will crush me again."

A small smirk played on his lips. "Let's see who underestimates this 'beggar' now."

Back to the Classroom

Jiang Han returned to his desk, his thoughts racing. Memories of his past life—the pain, the betrayal, the regrets—fueled his determination.

At Divine Cross High School, surrounded by the laughter and chatter of students, Jiang Han began plotting his rise.

This time, he wasn't just here to survive. He was here to conquer.
