Chapter 1: A Beggar’s Second Chance
Jiang Han's life had been nothing short of a disaster.
Harassed into misery by a second-generation rich young master.
Driven into crippling debt by unjust schemes.
Driven to his breaking point, his body could no longer endure.
At 37 years old, Jiang Han—the once-proud lead programmer of a multinational corporation—died bitter, alone and defeated.
Or so he thought.
The loud clang of a school bell jolted Jiang Han awake. The chatter of students filled the air, accompanied by laughter and the rhythmic squeak of shoes on tiled floors. His eyes fluttered open to a familiar yet disorienting scene.
Rows of desks lined the classroom, the faint scent of chalk hanging in the air. Sunlight streamed in through dusty windows, casting a golden hue on the polished wooden floors. A mix of awe and confusion swept over him as he sat at a desk at the very back of the classroom.
"This… This can't be real," Jiang Han muttered, his voice trembling.
At the front of the room, a teacher stood scribbling equations on the chalkboard. Around him, forty-eight students sat in rapt attention—or at least most of them were pretending to be attentive. The chatter, the noise, even the uniforms—it all hit Jiang Han like a wave of nostalgia.
The crest above the chalkboard bore the unmistakable emblem of Divine Cross High School, Petraling Jaya—the high school he had attended two decades ago.
His jaw dropped.
"This is… my old school? How is this possible?"
He looked down at his hands, the youthful skin a stark contrast to the calloused fingers he remembered. His clothes, too, weren't his usual tailored work attire but the standard green-and-white uniform of a Divine Cross High School student.
"No," he whispered to himself. "No way."
Unable to suppress his confusion, he leaned toward the boy sitting next to him. "What year is it?"
The boy raised an eyebrow. "Huh? It's 2012. You alright, mate?"
Jiang Han's heart skipped a beat. 2012? That was twenty years ago!
Desperate for confirmation, he asked a few more classmates. Each one responded with the same look of baffled concern.
"Are you okay? You hit your head or something?"
The teacher finally noticed the commotion. "Jiang Han, if you're not feeling well, just go to the toilet," she said, annoyance creeping into her tone.
He didn't need to be told twice. Jiang Han bolted out of the classroom, his footsteps echoing down the corridor.
He stood in front of the bathroom mirror, his reflection staring back at him like a ghost from the past.
The face he saw wasn't his 37-year-old self—the one worn down by stress and failure. It was the bright, youthful face of a 17-year-old boy, clear-skinned, sharp-eyed, and filled with vitality. His hand shook as he touched his cheek, his chest heaving with disbelief.
"I've… gone back," he murmured, his voice cracking.
But just as the initial shock began to settle, a strange voice echoed in his mind.
[System Initialising… Begging System activated.]
"What the—" Jiang Han stumbled backwards, clutching the sink.
[Welcome, Host. You are the sole participant of the Begging System. This system exists to help you rewrite your destiny. Complete missions, earn points and ascend to greatness. To begin, you must… beg.]
"Beg?!" Jiang Han's voice rose in disbelief. "You're telling me the only way to activate this thing is to beg?"
[Correct. Please select your choice:]
1. Reject and face immediate bodily harm.
2. Beg now and unlock the Beginner Package.]
"What kind of twisted system is this?" Jiang Han fumed. He had spent his adult life climbing the corporate ladder, earning respect through skill and hard work. The thought of begging was an insult to his pride.
But the words "bodily harm" lingered ominously. The memories of his painful death were still fresh in his mind. He couldn't risk it.
"Fine," he muttered through gritted teeth. "I'll play along—for now."
[Congratulations, Host. System activation successful.]
A flood of knowledge surged through Jiang Han's mind, like a tidal wave crashing into his thoughts. Blueprints, strategies, and skills that far surpassed anything he had known before filled his consciousness.
[Beginner Package Rewards Granted.]
1. Legendary High School Knowledge: Comprehensive mastery of all high school material.
2. Talent Appraisal (Elementary): Instinctively gauge others' potential.
3. Legendary Poker Face: Unshakable calm, even in absurd situations.
His breathing slowed as the knowledge settled. His mind, once clouded with panic, now felt sharper than ever. Memories of his previous life—the harassment, the betrayals, and the crushing weight of failure—rose like a fire in his chest.
"I won't waste this chance," he whispered, his voice low but resolute. "This time, I'll rise to the top. Not just in Petraling Jaya… but across Seladang City and all of Malayuna. And I'll make every one of those bastards who crossed me pay."
A smirk tugged at his lips as he adjusted his glasses, his newfound determination burning brightly in his eyes.
Back to 2012: A Parallel World
Jiang Han returned to the classroom, his steps measured and his thoughts already spinning with plans. This wasn't just a second chance—it was a new world entirely.
One where technology lagged far behind his memories.
One where he could turn his foresight and the Begging System into unstoppable tools for success.
This time, Jiang Han wasn't here to survive. He was here to conquer.
At Divine Cross High School, Petraling Jaya, the bell rang again, signalling the end of the first lesson. Jiang Han glanced out the window at the skyline of Seladang City, the heart of a bustling, untapped Malayuna.
This was his stage now.
