God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank

Chapter 88: The Water

"Huh? Poison?" Laura asked in a daze.

"Yeah, any kind of poison, give it to me right now!" He shouted again, and just then, he arrived in front of her.

Even though she didn't understand, she didn't hesitate to pull out poison. As she had said before, she always carried things with her. Even poison and fuel.

And even rarer things, for she didn't know when she might need them.

As soon as he grabbed it, Louis ran...

[Hunter Gunman Agility: activated.]

Running to the right, his speed increased dramatically. He shot accurately before deactivating the skill and activating it again.

Thanks to the fact that this skill had recently leveled up, the agility it gave him was already 12.5%.

That was a substantial increase in his current level, so he could quickly attack his opponent from all sides, as his skill blossomed in capability and slowly approached the next level.

The more that happened, the more he became convinced that it was as he had thought.

Why, despite having been firing pure fire bullets, did they not seem to burn his opponent?

No, it's not that they didn't seem to burn him. It's that they didn't even light the fire.

They killed, yes. But they didn't burn.

What was wrong?

He understood a moment earlier, when he shot at the ground to see if there was anything underneath. His bullet simply dug firmly into the earth, and fire shot upward along with the raised dust and dirt, but in the end, the latter were greater in mass and ended up scattering the fire from his Rune.

That set off a click in his head.

Water.

That lake they had seen earlier was filled with pure water that didn't seem to have any use other than being a water source for these beasts.

In the absence of a core and the need to search for what was binding these bats into one, he could only suspect that.

'Besides, there must be the key there too. Deep down. After all, these beasts aren't beasts that can keep it in some inventory.'

After throwing his opponent off for several minutes straight, Louis found a perfect opening. He had spent four rounds of 9 bullets to achieve it, but upon finding the opening, he didn't hesitate.

[Hunter Gunman Agility: activated.]

[Hunter Gunman Agility: has leveled up.]

[13% Agility increase activated.]

His eyes shone with a smile, and his increased speed quickly reached the lake.

Without thinking, he jumped in.

The bat seemed to despair as soon as he did, while Laura was stunned.

'What the hell is he doing?' She thought, but seeing the bat approaching that place with an even greater fury than before, she quickly aimed at him.

BAM*

Its bullet firmly stuck in the head and shattered it. Quickly, new bats covered that spot, regenerating it.

The bat looked back, precisely where she was.

She quickly got up and started running in another direction, but without Louis intercepting the gaze of those bats, she was doomed to be unable to attack from a blind spot.

And the bat seemed to know it.

Although he was worried about the one that had jumped in, he knew that if he killed one of them, the situation would be much easier once that bastard got out.

So, in a rage, he lunged at Laura.

She stopped dead in her tracks when she finished reloading and fired with impeccable aim and extremely fast movement.

BAM*

The shot found her opponent very fast, just 10 meters away from her, and shattered his head again.

GUAAAAAAAA!

A strange scream echoed in the cave, not uttered by a single mouth but by thousands. That stunned Laura a little, but she used the time it took for his head to recover to run to the other side of the bat. As soon as she finished reloading, she threw herself backwards to the ground, aiming backwards.

The third bullet was fired, the last one in this magazine. It was meant to destroy the bat's head again, buying it time to move farther away.

But the bat managed to move a few inches to the left, to turn around to see it. This meant that the bullet could only destroy part of the head.

With the other part still functioning, there was nothing to stop it.

'Shit.'

She quickly stood up and jumped in another direction, wanting to dodge it. But then she felt the impact of a powerful thing on her back, and her body accelerated in one direction, hitting the wall soon after.

An intense dizziness hit her, but she got up immediately, reloaded her weapon, and aimed back immediately...

Suddenly, her face was face to face with the giant bat. One of the wings transformed into an axe was coming towards her stomach, the most unprotected place on her body. In contrast, her rifle was glued tightly over his head.

She had no alternative for escape. She had to pray that her bullet would go out first and destroy her enemy's head. She had to take advantage of that small moment when the head was slow to recover to escape, for in those moments the bat's body went into a state of paralysis, albeit momentary.

The problem was... she wasn't sure the bullet would hit first.

Still... she had no choice.

BAM*

A shot rang out then...

The axe made of bats covered by that strange energy that bound them together shattered.

Louis appeared from the other side of the lake, his revolver in hand. In the other, the poison began spraying over the lake, spreading quickly.

The giant bat tried to retrieve his wing-weapon but realized he was failing. At that moment, something seemed to break in the cave.

The energy that bound all the bats into one suddenly began to taint, and many bats fell dead to the ground.

"Shoot!" Louis shouted as he let loose the 2nd consecutive shot, destroying a part of the bat's chest.

She fired as well, and the pile of bats that formed the head shattered.

And they were beyond repair.

Suddenly, the entire structure that formed that huge bat fell to the ground, and many bats began to fly in all directions in panic.

A third shot killed many, and a fourth began to reduce their numbers considerably.

The bats then panicked even more and began to pour out of the cave like frightened hordes.

Seeing this, Laura fell dazed to the ground, breathing heavily.

Louis reached out to her. "That was amazing." He said, smiling a little.
