God-King Arising

Chapter 39: 39

Adaceus jumped across the city scape, and eventually made it home at just the break of late noon. He hopped from the gates, landing on the garden and opening the front door to enter, finally completing his task.

"Adaaa!!"

A high pitched squeal sounded, and a woman ran toward him with her arms spread out. She grabbed him and buried him into his chest.

His face was buried into two large pillows, and she brought him deeper into her.

"Good to see you too, lady Ella," Adaceus said with a muffled voice.

The girl released her from him, and he fell to the ground.

"How are ya?" She asked, a wide smile plastered on her face.

"I'm good, Miss Ella."

"So I heard you went to my brother to deliver somethin, how'd it go?"

"It went fine."

"That's good!" And she widened her smile.

Adaceus stared at her smiling face. It was as still as can be, and he could swear he could see her twitch on one lip. He immediately knew what she was up too.

With a heavy sigh, he said, "I can get ready in a few moments so why don't you just go ahead, okay?"

Sparkles flew out of her expression and she replied with a joyful 'alright!', and hopped in the direction of the training grounds.

"Huh, that girl is lively today."

Adaceus walked into a the grounds, seeing a line of straw dummies that were laid there other side, and he saw Dionella there, standing enthusiastically, waiting for him to come. She had on a skin tight suit of some sort, a sash of cloth hung from her waist, a large, witch hat on her head and a wand at her hip, the tactical suit of a mage.

Meanwhile Adaceus strode in here with only his butler uniform on, but he had the grimoire at his hand.

"Alright!" She exclaimed, "Lets get started! I wanna work on my firepower baby!"

"Hold on, Miss Ella," Adaceus interjected her joyful declaration. " Are you sure you're prepared for this? Last time you tried attack spells it went haywire and blasted a hole through the roof."

She pouted her rosy pink cheeks, 'C'mon I'm not going to do it again! I promise!"

Adaceus saw her puppy dog eyes directed at him, glistening stars and sparkles and the like, and he nodded before she could blind him any further. Adaceus stepped closer and saw her getting prepared, unlatching her wand. It was made from a root of a very rare tree that had special essence conducting properties in it. It was fitted with a whit stone rod as a handle and a crystal was at its tip and directed it toward the straw targets in front of her.

"Remember to breath now."

"Yes, I know," and she took in a deep breath, and after a long exhale a magical circle appeared at the tip of her hand.

"Erupting Blast!"

A large ball of flame shot out the magic circle, red and fierce flying at top speed until it made contact with the straw dummy. It was set aflame immediately, cinders flying and at the spot where it hit exploded to a powerful blast of splinter and smog, destroying it to black ash. Dionella's hands were raised to the sky, unable to handle the recoil the spell put on her arms, they slumped down. She had a pained expression on her face and it was evident that she tried her best to hide it, but Adaceus saw through the farce.

"Do you need to rest?"

"N-no, I can still go for another couple of spells, I'm fine, Ada, really!" And she gave him a wide and toothy smile, and a thumbs up accompanying it.

"Alright, but you shouldn't take it too far, rest if it gets too much and remember to breathe."

Adaceus watched as she casted even more spells, her face filled with focus.

She really is trying, eh, thought Adaceus.

Dionella was the only mage in the Blaidhund family.

She was a support class essence healer, specializing in recovery based abilities that she utilized effectively to support, but she had a special unique quality in her core that made it possible for her to combative spells as well. That's why they were here, training on the attacks spells and why Adaceus was instructing. He was begged by Dionella for training, as he was more experienced with using combat magic more than her, and this current session was one of many.

She's improved, good, and by the looks of it she seems to be an elementalist.

Most essence users have a sort of affinity with particular types of magic that greatly depend on the state of their cores and how well they resonated to a particular type, whether it be arcane, illusionary, golemancy, or in the case of Ella, an elementalist.

Dionella prepared another magical circle, with wand at the ready with a spell channeling at the tip.

"Jet Stream!"

A high pressure stream of water shot out continuously in a straight line, causing the now wooden target to be reduced to splinters.

He took note of her form, the spells, and the way she carried herself, and gave her prompt and brief suggestions as they went about the session.

After a moment, Adaceus turned to face the line of dummies that were also in front of him, and decided to join in.

He unlatched the tome on his hip and opened it, wherein magic coursed through his hand forming a circle over his open palm.

"Black Phasht Hither," he casted.

A brief puff of flame wafted over the dummies and in a short burst, quickly withering and reducing the dummies to black ash made contact to the straw that blew away into non-existence.

This was one of the spells contained within the grimoire itself, a decaying type spell, and he sent it toward the line of dummies and managed to wither the dummies behind it too. He decided to continue on casting a myriad of spells.

The abilities of this world truly differed from what Adaceus was familiar with.

Adaceus's capabilities were an innate part of himself, a part of his very being and what he was, like how wings were for a bird, except if the bird was a deity that was partial to the creation of everything, but they were weaker than what they once were. Meanwhile the powers of this world had a sort of process associated to them, one Adaceus still hasn't quite got the hang of as he continued casting from the grimoire.

He took a a closer look, flipping to the pages to find another spell to use. One would immediately take note of the contents in it, and the underlying problem if one were to find out about how its basically a treacherous book, a book literally made by and undead. Except for the fact that he was the only one that could understand the language inscribed in it, and he was grateful the the red marble because of that.

The pages were filled with menacing sounding theorems and subjects which he forgot were there, but he just skipped to where the spells were and focused on that.

The reason why he was using the book was because it granted him an arsenal of spells useful to someone like him, who was an arcane user that luckily he was able to use. In this world, there were things called Magic Tool that basically allows the flow of essence to be more fluid, and the effectiveness of the spells to be more potent, and this book was able to be used as such. The most common of these were staffs and wands and the like, but here it was the grimoire.

He used this book as such because it was convenient and optimal for his own use, and the book was surprisingly capable of being used as Magical Tool as well, almost as if it was intended to be used as such which made it less of a hassle to get one.

Another spell was casted, a powerful, storm of lightning struck at a dummy that came from Adaceus's book.

"My, that was a good spell, Ada," Dionella said, panting with beads of sweat on her brow .

He closed the book and latched it on to his waist. "I think we should stop here, Ella, take this another time."

"Alrighty, it's starting to get late anyways," and she gave a quick stretch of her arms.

Adaceus then took a glance at her, a gleam of spurring interest brewing inside him, and he couldn't help but ask a question, a question that probably should have been asked for a while now.

"Ella," he said, a still tone "could I ask you something?"

"Whaaat is it?" She said in an elated tone, probably from a days training done.

"Why is it that you wanted to train in combat magic?"

That widened her eyes quite a bit.

"I mean, you are quite the effective user of support magic, why the need to try hard in this?"

A pause came to in the atmosphere, and she turned her face away just slightly and there was a quiver in her lips as she clutched her hands together tight.

"Is something wrong Miss Ella?" Adacue said as this silence was unlike her.

"Well, Its just that," she hesitated on continuing, a sad look was in her face. "I just... feel like I'm not doing much just staying in the backline, Ada, my magic is just... really unremarkable for me to really be useful enough. I mean, look at my brother's, they're hailed as prodigies, but me, I'm just a regular mage."

Adaceus saw as gloom appeared on her face, and that proved to be quite the shock. She knew her to be the sunshine type, always cheery, but this sudden silence and the shift of mood was totally unlike her at all.

In a moment that seemed like Ella was dropping even more lower, Adaceus was quick to action.

"Ella, trust what I have to say, alright, you are spectacular in your own right, you know?"

She chuckled weakly, "I wish I could believe that, Ada."

Before she could be fully submerged in sadness, he decided to enact the plan, "Of course you could!" He said much too loud, but he manipulated his tone too make it sound like and old man.

"In fact, I would bet that you'd be actually quite the powerhouse you Ella my, with the support magic and in addition to this spells, well, you'd be quite the one man army."

He made sure to exaggerate his moves, in a goofy way. This always put a chuckle and laugh in her face, as in her own words it made him seem like an old geezer, and she found it funny how he talks and the way he moves, and he greatly emphasized it.

Immediately her mood started to morph into a smirk, then inch by inch it slowly turned into a wide smile, and then a very slight chuckle, to a resounding laugh.

"Ahahaha! Wow, you sound even more stupid this way Ada."

Nhn, Adaceus groaned, that was quite the painful insult.

"Hahahaha!" She continued on, and tears welled in her eyes from laughter.

"Haah," she sighed. "Thanks for that, Ada, I really needed that."

"Right, good, now that you've calmed down enough, are you good now?"

"Yeah, yeah, Ada, thanks for this, really."

"That's swell Miss Ella, now, I think we should get going, its starting to get dark out."

"Yep! You're right, goodnight, Ada!"
