Chapter 37: Apprentice
"Let's go young lord, remember to block in case you get hit!"
Adaceus struck with a flurry of blows, all targeting the blade of the child he was fighting with the minimal power exerted. It was clear the boy struggled, and Adaceus made sure to attack with just enough strength.
"Nghh!" He child groaned, desperately trying to block the attacks that went his way, "I'm trying!"
"Hah, all you need to do is to try harder!" Adaceus declared, delivering a hard blow unto the wooden sword, sending the boy flying across the floor skidding. He landed the ground with his butt first, still holding on to his blade.
"Oww!" The boy yelled, sitting up from the fall.
"I'm sorry if that was a bit too rough, young lord."
The boy, lowered his head down before starting to tremble. He raised his head, containing a angry and spirited expression, and he yelled at him.
"Grhh," he growled, "Let's go again! C'mon, I'll take you down this time!"
"Hmm, but its already the third time you lost to me though and you said the same thing, are you sure you're telling the truth."
"No! I will, just fight me already!" The boys stood up and positioned his word for in a battle pose.
"That's enough of that," a voice called out, and Ingridt came into the scene.
"But, mom!" The child said.
"I said enough fighting Lujah, you already had your fill so step out of the way and wait."
"But," The boy remarked, but was shut down by Ingrdit with a glare of her terrifying gaze.
"A-alright," and the child hung his head low, despirited, and slowly walked over. The boy, Lujah, was the youngest child of Ingridt and Hainan. He was an 8 year old child that had bright blue hair, with white tipped peaks that was like ruffled grass that was atop his round face, his eyes were sharp, and his eyelashes were longer than normal that gave them an appealing quality and there were light freckles on his cheeks.
He was here to train with them as he recently had awakened. What being awakened means is that he had finally developed a core, and at the age of 6 as well. He was considered a prodigy for having an awakening at such a young age, and he was immediately set to training, and that is why they were here, with Ingridt teaching her son personally as he was an aura user. He was an energetic and vigorous young boy, and he was always ecstatic in each session of training he underwent, but there was an issue that arose within that frame of time. He struggled with the basics, and had trouble with performing basic moves and such, and he couldn't synthesize mana through meditation without having to exert a laborious amount of effort, and with a weapon of choice he had, the sword, was seemingly hard for him to wield effectively.
And that led him on a demeanor of frustration.
He walked over to Ingridt, wherein she hunched herself down and patted them on the head. "You'll get another turn soon, okay, just sit tight."
Lujah then walked past her, sitting in one of the benches that was outside of the arenas area, and his eyes were dispirited.
"Well, are you prepared, Ada, or do you need to rest up?"
"No, I don't need to, I'm ready and roaring."
Ingridt smiled, raising a simple sword at the ready to battle. Adaceus followed, and set his golden blade in a battle position. They stared each other down in silence, until Ingridt flashed toward him in a blinding move.
Adaceus saw it, and quickly covered his blade into a mist like substance, until it became hardened into a red like shell. This was a basic move of an aura user called enhancement, wherein aura is used to reinforce or strengthen whatever they see fit, and he chose the sword as he took a swing head on from Ingridt. They met with blade to blade, sparks flying until Adaceus conjured a magic circle in one of his hands, and a pillar of earth rose from the ground, targeting Ingrdit. She was forced to move back as a jagged tower of earth that penetrated through the floor.
"My, using magic aye Ada?" Ingidt said, her smile widening more.
"Of course, what did you expect me to? I have this ability after all, why wouldn't I use it?"
"Cheeky."
Ingridt raised her sword and a torrent of energy wrapped around the blade, and Ingridt brought it down with a downward swing, sending forth a white slash that tore through the pillar of earth, and from the dust and rubble she appeared. Adaceus blocked it, but was sent back a great distance. Ingridt followed again with a flurry of strikes that let Adaceus on the defensive, but suddenly Adaceus's body shone, and in an instant disappeared, but then reappeared at behind Ingridt. In the floor, directly bellow Ingridt, a large magic circle appeared, and a pillar of fire erupted out. Adaceus stepped back to let the fire do its thing, and gazed at Ingridts silhouette in the roaring, rising flames.
Is, is she alright? He thought to himself, wondering why she hasn't come up yet.
The flames subsided, and Ingridt stood there smoking, her clothes still on her, and not a burn mark anywhere to be seen. She turned to him, and she glared at him with a frightening look, and she charged at him with a strong fury.
Oh, no...

Adaceus fell to his back, and his sword dropped beside him, turning the fight to its conclusion.
"That was a good fight," Said Ingridt, walking up to him.
"I wouldn't call that good, if I say so myself."
She lightly chuckled, "Just take my word for it," and she offered her hand to him. Adaceus grabbed it and stood up, and saw figure approaching them. It was Rinita, and she bowed in Ingridt's presence, before turning to talk to Adaceus.
"Ada, Lord Hainan ordered for me to get you after you were done here, he said there some business that required your attention."
"Right, I'll be right on it ."
"W-wait!! Wait!" Lujah called out, "I thought I was going to get another turn!"
Adaceus walked toward him and placed his hand on his head.
"I'm sorry buddy, but work is calling and I can't miss it, maybe next time alright? I promise we'll have more time."
"But," he said, but stayed quiet before finishing what he said, "Okay, next time, alright!"
"You bet."

At Hainan's office, Adaceus stood there with a pile of files in his hands and stood there as he awaited for Hainan. He was writing something in it, and after a couple of second, he stopped and handed it over to Adaceus. This was the last one, and now the work was done, and Adaceus set those files aside to their assigned placements.
"All done and dusted!" Hainan rejoiced, raising his hand in a triumphant manner.
"Yes, seems like the last of it."
"Thank you by the way, work was a headache."
"Of course, that's what I'm here for."
"Right, your a lifesaver, Oh! I almost forgot, here," Hainan lurched from his seat, and brought out a book, tossing it to Adaceus.
He caught it and observed the cover, and it simply read, "Magika."
"I know you were almost done with the bundle of books last time, so I brought you this."
"I appreciate it, thank you."
Adaceus sight suddenly became drawn to a letter on the desk, this one particular enough to garner his attention.
"Hmm, have the royal family contacted you?" He said, pointing at the letter. The reason he said this is because the letter had the royal family crest in its wax stamp.
"Oh, that, well they were just informing me over an incoming event, the Annual Grand Ball, and they ordered for me to host and arrange it."
The Annual Grand Ball, a grandiose event that is held every year by the royal family of Prahu. It is held in the very Royal Palace itself, every year, and this time in this year Hainan was asked to be its host and presenter. It was a gathering of the high members of society, where even the royal family make a personal attendance, and it was mainly held for a commemoration of a year that has passed, a sort of yearly tradition and celebration for the continued prosperity of the kingdom, and this was the first time Adaceus could actually attend, as he has reached a right age.
"That must be an honor to you."
"Eh," Hainan shrugged, "It's more like a massive headache, its been taking so much of my time setting it up and it's exhausting work." Hainan groaned.
Adaceus sarcastically clapped at Hainan's groanes, "You can do it."
Hainan turned to him in an annoyed expression, "Don't make me take that book back."
And Adaceus only gave him a shrug.
Hainan sighed, "Anyway, since we finished earlier than expected, you can go ahead early, its starting to become night anyway, take care now and goodnight."
And they both bid their goodbyes.
