Chapter 450: Legendary Necromancer
As Shane observed the battle below from the rocky ridge, a flash of recognition crossed his face.
Among the group of Survivors assaulting the Wild Shelter, one man stood out—Borin, the leader of the ROTK Clan.
The ROTK Clan was definitely not an average Clan out there. Although they could fluctuate a lot in their placement, they were always within the Top 20,
Shane recalled Borin vaguely, but the Seeker's Boomerang, a unique weapon Borin had won at an auction, had left a strong impression…
Anyway, Shane and Borin had never interacted directly, so he wasn't sure about his personality. Nonetheless, Shane knew that this Clan shouldn't go down so easily.
As they watched, Borin's voice rang out in the midst of the battle.
"Focus fire on the gate! Priests, keep the undead vulnerable!"
This order confirmed Shane's assessment to this group of people. They certainly have a method to deal with the undead.
At Borin's command, five members of his Elite Squad stepped forward. Each of them wore Priest Robes with a faint glow on them.

The robes were actually 'Ranked' items and not 'Tiered' pieces of equipment. Shane knew this very well since Tiered equipment doesn't produce some glow effects once upgraded, even if they reached Tier 5.
On the other hand, ranked items starting from Exceptional to Legendary provide some glowing effect on the items as their rank goes higher.
Based on the glow of the Priest's Robes, Shane could easily guess that they were at least Master or Epic grade already.
Anyway, Shane knew about the existence of Priests… There were actually plenty of survivors who had this talent at similar levels, and most of them seemed to be rare at the very least.
They were very weak in physical combat, but they were an incredible support.
Anyway, as they followed Borin's instructions, their hands glowed faintly as they chanted.
Soon, a gentle, warm light appeared before them, and waves of pale golden energy rippled outward. It was such a beautiful ability.
'I'll still prefer Monks though…' Shane thought as he recalled the monk he had recruited.
Lysandra, on the other hand, was just focused on watching how the entire battle progressed.
"Purge the Death Shroud!" one priest shouted as the energy struck the horde of Skeleton Warriors, causing their dark aura of death energy to dissipate.
'Oh? Is that called Death Shroud?' Shane thought as he looked at the faint dark miasma leaking through the bodies of the undead creatures. It seemed that this Shroud wasn't just some sort of special effects but a true defensive ability.
"Now! Take them down!" Borin roared as soon as he confirmed that the Death Shroud had been removed.
Indeed, after being freed from their protective Shroud, the Skeleton Warriors crumbled under the barrage of bullets and explosives.
The bullets and explosives seemed to be just normal this time and weren't upgraded. It appears that this was their method to save expensive ammunitions.
Nonetheless, as stronger undead creatures started coming out, they still had to use their upgraded or stronger firearms.
The ROTK Clan's firearms were high-caliber and precisely modified!
They tore through the undead ranks very efficiently.
Boom! Boom!
Explosions rocked the battlefield, sending shards of bone flying in every direction.
After a concentrated assault, the massive iron gate of the Wild Shelter began to groan under the pressure of sustained explosive fire.
With a deafening crack, the gate finally gave way, splintering into jagged pieces.
Crash!
A cheer erupted from the Survivors as they surged forward! Their morale was at the peak after being able to breach the gates.
"Push through! Don't stop!" Borin yelled as his squad advanced.
At this time, he also took out his Seeker's Boomerang as it rushed through the air, destroying one of the Machine Guns!
It didn't end there as he continued releasing this Boomerang!
This weapon was mystical. It arced around the battlefield and sliced through the skulls of skeletons before returning to his hand…
Shane watched intently, and he was impressed by this display...
"They're good. Borin's got a disciplined group," he murmured.
It was unfortunate that Borin couldn't use the Boomerang for a long period due to its Spirit Points consumption. He certainly doesn't have as much as Shane at this point.
Furthermore, recovering Spirit Points through Spirit Stones or many other Spirit Recovery Tools wasn't instantaneous either. For those that could grant instant recovery, they wouldn't be a lot, and they were also extremely expensive.
Lysandra, crouched beside him, nodded. "But this is far from over. The Necromancers won't give up that easily."
This wasn't just a guess, as she could actually see the Necromancer still holding his ground and wasn't planning to escape at all.
As expected, when the Survivors began flooding into the Wild Shelter, two figures emerged from its depths. They were undead creatures that they knew existed.
Clad in dark robes that seemed to absorb the faint light of the surroundings, the Liches stepped into the open.
They were no longer standing beside the Necromancer.
'They looked strong…' Shane commented in his mind seeing the majestic appearance of the Liches.
Their skeletal faces were adorned with crowns of bone, and their eyes glowed with bright blue light…
One of them raised a staff covered with black gems, and soon, a deafening voice echoed across the battlefield.
"You dare defile our domain? Witness the wrath of the eternal!"
The other Lich extended a bony hand, summoning a massive wave of Shadow Ghouls. They were phantom-like creatures made of darkness and pure malice.
With their appearance, the air around the valley grew colder… It was then followed by an oppressive sense of dread, pressuring everyone on the battlefield.
The Survivors faltered for a moment as the wave of Shadow Ghouls charged…
Fear also clouded the minds of the Survivors, but thankfully, Borin had a Roar Skill that could grant Fear Resistance or any mind debuff of the enemies.
After using the Roar, he called out to the five Priests…
"Priests! Focus on those ghouls!" Borin shouted.
The priests immediately began chanting again… They had just consumed some Spirit Recovery Potions, so they were ready once again.
Soon, their holy arts brought some light and warmth to every Survivor but death to the undead.
The effects of their upgraded robes were also triggered as they formed some sort of dome to protect a small area around them from the Death Shroud.
'They're doing really well… However, that Necromancer was just too strong… Is that maybe a Legendary Necromancer?' Shane mused as he knew that the Necromancers he killed before weren't as strong as this one.
He could even feel that the Necromancer was still not showing everything he had. It was as if he was still assessing the Survivors' full strength and waiting for them to show another trump card.
Nonetheless, this guess also made him realize that the Borin might be targeting the Advanced Grade Shelter Crystal that this Necromancer had.
It was certainly an enticing item to obtain, and he would also be tempted to siege this shelter for it.
"Ahh!"
Suddenly, Shane and the others heard the Priests cry. Apparently, their holy arts are less effective against the Shadow Ghouls this time!
The bullets and other projectiles, like throwing knives and stone bullets, seemed to pass harmlessly through the Ghouls!
"Damn it! These aren't normal undead!" one Survivor cursed as his gunshots had no effect.
Shane frowned as he watched the Survivors struggle against the Liches' summons.
The battle was shifting, and Borin's forces were beginning to lose momentum.
This time, as Shane was considering helping, he realized that the Necromancer was already on the rampart and was actually looking at their group!
'So it was like that…' Shane thought as he realized that the Necromancer was holding back because of their presence.
Well, they didn't cast any anti-detection abilities, so it wasn't really surprising…
"Shane, are we stepping in?" Nia asked. Her voice seemed calm, but Shane could tell that it was tinged with anticipation.
Shane weighed his options. This was his enemy, a Necromancer stronghold, but the Survivors weren't exactly his allies either.
"If those Liches aren't stopped, this battle will end in disaster… We'll wait for a moment if the casualties of the Survivors grow more." Shane said coldly.
Lysandra narrowed her eyes, but she could understand Shane's concern. After all, the leader of the Survivors might also be one of those cruel Survivors.
Shane then turned to his group. "However, we'll still move in once I give the signal. I want them to be grateful for our help, at the very least. Then, we'll have to announce our presence. We need Borin, their leader, to agree to our help. If he did, we'll first target the Liches, but keep Borin and his squad on your peripheral. We don't want any unnecessary fights."
Shane said after some consideration… He had no idea if Borin would betray them if they helped. However, Shane was really interested in looting those Liches and the Necromancers.
He also wanted to get the priority in obtaining the Shelter Crystal.
Vernon nodded as he adjusted his rifle. "Got it. We'll wait for your instruction, leader."
