Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 449: Familiar Person

"Kael, draw their attention!" Shane shouted.

He wasn't worried about him with his incredible defense. Shane even believed that Kael wouldn't mind being shot by firearms because of how tough his defense was.

Hearing this instruction, Kael didn't hesitate as he roared and activated his Guardian's Warcry…

The sound reverberated through the swamp, and aside from its other effects, he certainly drew all the Zombies' attention to him.

Since Shane's group was currently protected by his token, the Zombies turned their desire to eat flesh to Kael…

The Spitter Zombies turned toward him, but Shane's group wasn't just idle.

At this time, Lysandra used the opening to dart forward, severing one Spitter's head.

Knowing that a Spitter would explode with acid flesh in a few moments, she immediately moved away and used another Spitter Zombie's body to block the explosion.

At this time, however, Nia hurled a vial of liquid, neutralizing the Spitter Zombie's explosion!

Shane and the others even noticed a plant quickly growing on the Zombie's body!

'You can do that?' Shane was shocked as he didn't expect such a unique way of dealing with such a problem… He didn't know what kind of liquid was that, but if it was easy to make, Shane knew that he would get rich once again.

The battle lasted for some time, but because of their difference in strength and Kael's taking every Zombie's attention, it became a lot easier for Shane and the others to kill the remaining zombies.
Your journey continues at empire

Soon, Vernon's rifle took down the last Spitter Zombie with a headshot. Since it was far away, Nia didn't bother neutralizing the Zombie and allowed it to explode from afar.

"That was easy…" Shane muttered as he looked around the surroundings…

Then, after looting the Zombies, Kael, who had gone forward, found something.

Apparently, this swamp also yielded surprises.

Hidden among the roots of a mangled tree, they found a Wooden Treasure Chest. The quality was low but everyone felt excited seeing a Treasure Chest.

After all, it was still a reward for their hard work.

Shane opened it, and a system notification appeared… Thankfully, the Wooden Treasure Chest this time gives better results, comparable to the previous Wooden Treasure Chest.

[ You have received a Power Core x20 ]

[ You have received a Zombie Core x50 ]

[ You have received a Starlight Silver Ore x20 ]

[ You have received an Abyssal Iron Ore x20 ]

Shane distributed the Spirit Stones to them as well since they might need them as they travel to Sector 20. It was better if they had their own stash in case they got separated or if they were in combat.

Their journey then continued as they passed through the swamp and crossed the mountains. During this time, they also found two more Wooden Treasure Chests…

Crossing into the mountains was not easy.

The rocky terrain was steep and dangerous, and the group had to remain vigilant as Earth Zombies could emerge anywhere.

Furhtermore, their bulky forms were even camouflaged against the cliffs. If not for Cloud's advanced detection, it would be truly tough to find them since even Shane's Perception could somehow miss their presence.

Anyway, these zombies were slow but resilient, shrugging off most conventional attacks. However, with their current level of strength, they were only slightly harder to deal with compared to Spitter Zombies.

"Vernon, aim for the legs! Bring them down!" Shane ordered as they only had to bring them to the ground, and they wouldn't be able to move…

Then, Kael's Abyssal Strike shattered the ground beneath a group of zombies, causing them to lose their footing.

Shane and Lysandra capitalized on the opening, slicing through their exposed weak points and killing them off efficiently.

Once again, these kinds of battles would be repeated a few times since they somehow entered the territory of these Earth Zombies.

After some time, near a crumbling stone outcrop, Lysandra discovered another Treasure Chest.

This time, it was a Bronze Treasure Chest, its contents even more valuable…

[ You have received a Zombie Core x50 ]

[ You have received a Rare-Grade Skill Scroll x3 ]

[ You have received an Exceptional-Grade Skill Scroll x1 ]

[ You have received a Skill Fusion Scroll x1 ]

Shane and everyone else were excited upon seeing this. Since Lysandra was the one to find it, Shane just allowed her to get most of the items inside except for the Skill Fusion Scroll, which he really needed.

Lysandra then took the Rare-Grade Skill Scroll and distributed the Spirit Stones and Rare-Grade Skills Scrolls to the three Recruits.

After they all obtained their share, they continued on their way and eliminated a few more Earth Zombies and found some Wooden Treasure Chests.

'I guess there's no other group of survivors exploring around here.' Shane thought as he believed that most of these Treasure Chests weren't that difficult to find as long as they were heading to the other side of this mountain.

Anyway, this means that the Zombies around this area weren't being cleared, and there must be thousands of them so they have to rest whenever they have the item, or they might get too exhausted at some point.

No matter how strong they were, they did not have unlimited stamina, and the fatigue on their bodies would also accumulate.

However, Shane was completely wrong…

'This…'

As they were descending the mountain range, their group came upon a tense scene.

Below, in a valley, a group of Survivors was attacking a Wild Shelter!

Shane immediately recognized that it was a Wild Shelter because of the black banners adorned with skeletal insignias on their walls. Without a doubt, this was a Necromancer's domain.

At this time, Shane signaled everyone to hide…

They all followed him without hesitation.

Then, everyone observed the situation.

Shane could tell that the Survivors attacking the Wild Shelter were prepared. They were well-armed, wielding high-caliber rifles, grenade launchers, and even makeshift mortars.

'Whoa… They really spent a lot of money on this.' Shane thought to himself as their weapons must be difficult to find. Furthermore, all of them were equipped with rifles. It was as if they found an army truck filled with weapons.

However, as they turned their attention to the enemy, they realized that it wouldn't be easy for the Survivors either.

Apparently, the Wild Shelter's defenses were formidable, with machine guns mounted on its walls, spewing bullets, and a wave of Skeleton Warriors charging at the attackers.

"Let's just watch for now…" Shane whispered, signaling the group to continue hiding behind some rocks.

The Survivors who were working together were actually not on the losing end at this point. They have strange defenses that stop bullets, and the Skeleton Warriors were just some annoying moving figures for them.

It was as if they were still calculating each other's strengths. However, it didn't take long before the Wild Shelter's Necromancer started to send out Zombie Knights!

Without a doubt, this action shifted the momentum of the battle.

"Should we help them?" Lysandra asked as her hand rested on her blade.

"Not yet. Let's see how this unfolds," Shane replied. His eyes narrowed as he studied the battlefield. Although there were many Zombie Knights coming out, he noticed that the leader of the Survivors wasn't panicking at all.

They were simply calculating how much they had to spend in order to eliminate the Zombies.

Just like Shane had thought, it didn't take that long before the Survivors launched a coordinated attack.

Against the Zombie Knights riding Skeleton Horses, they threw several grenades!

These explosives decimated the first wave of Zombie Knights!

Then, as a response, the Necromancers retaliated by sending out more Bone Hounds! The Zombie Knights had to halt as the Bone Hounds rushed forward!

They were more agile and unafraid of anything…

They charged from the shelter and started overwhelming several groups of Survivors! Soon, the Necromancer started to send more Zombie Knights, Ghouls, and even a couple of Lich!

"They're strong, but they're not coordinated enough to breach the shelter," Vernon observed as he felt that the group of Survivors suddenly felt deflated after seeing the Lich…

It was as if they didn't expect two of them to appear at the same time!

Shane nodded.

"We might not need to step in. But…"

Shane frowned for a moment as he tried to recall the leader of this group of Survivors. It seemed this person was quite familiar, and he had met them at the auction house before.

'Oh… Right…. That's the leader of the ROTK Clan, Borin…' Shane thought to himself as he recalled the man.

Shane considered for a moment as this was more than just a chance to deal with Necomancers—it was an opportunity to gain valuable resources and perhaps even recruit some of these skilled Survivors into his Clan.
