Ghoul: Starting with Sharingan

Chapter 213: Thank You

The ghoul couldn't even register what Eto had said—he was completely paralyzed with fear. His comrades were just as stunned.

A kagune user… no, was this a full Kakuja?!

On Okinawa Island, both human and ghoul combat capabilities were far weaker than in Tokyo.Forget Kakuja — most of these ghouls had only seen a half-Kakuja once or twice in their lives.

Now, with a towering 12-meter tall Kakuja suddenly appearing in front of them, how could they not be terrified out of their minds?

Meanwhile, the appearance of such a monstrous being on the beach sent nearby civilians into a panic.

But soon enough, they realized the creature wasn't attacking them—it was going after the ghouls.

Still… wasn't it also a ghoul?

Receiving help from a ghoul felt bizarre, but none of the civilians dared make any sudden moves. They could only watch in anxious silence.

"Everyone remain calm. I'm Arima, former Special-Class Investigator with the CCG, now Dragon Commander of the TSC. If needed, you may take shelter behind me."

Arima had somehow already retrieved his quinque briefcase.

"Dragon Commander" was the highest rank within the current TSC, equivalent to the old CCG's

Special-Class.

And Arima was without question the most powerful among them.

Several people recognized his briefcase immediately.

"That's a quinque! Only elite investigators carry those—he's the real deal!" someone shouted.

Civilians immediately tried to gather behind him, though there clearly wasn't enough room for everyone. Still, Arima's calm presence gave them hope.

But protecting the people wasn't the real solution—taking out the ghouls was. That was the only way to guarantee safety.

Arima drew his quinque and charged at the nearest ghoul.

At the same time, Yoshimura, Irimi, Koma, and Yomo all moved in.

Anyone from Anteiku could solo these weaklings.

One of the enemy ghouls, realizing the battle was lost, suddenly flew into a bloodthirsty frenzy. If he was going to die anyway, he'd take as many humans with him as he could. That monstrous Kakuja was on an entirely different level—so might as well go out with a bang.

He aimed his koukaku at a small girl — but just before impact, a towering figure stepped in front of her.

His attack landed on the man's arm… but something felt wrong.

It was Yoshimura himself. He shielded the girl with his body. Then, kagune began sprouting wildly from multiple kakuhou across his body. His already large form doubled in size, taking on the appearance of the Non-Killing Owl.

Though Eto's One-Eyed Owl form now looked quite different from her father's, Yoshimura had never felt the need to alter his appearance.

The form suited him just fine.

The attacking ghoul backed away in terror.

Yoshimura pursued without hesitation, severing the ghoul's kagune — and his arm along with it.

A scream of agony rang out.

Yoshimura turned back to the little girl, who stared up at him with wide, terrified eyes.

He understood. He was a ghoul—worse, one in monstrous form.

He quickly returned to his human shape and approached her with a warm smile.

"There's no need to be afraid anymore."

The girl, still shaken but understanding she had been saved, murmured, "Thank you… uncle."

"No need to thank me" Yoshimura replied gently.

At that moment, someone in the crowd recognized him.

"Wait—I remember him! That's the café owner from the Tokyo defense! The one who stood against the Dragon Orphans!"

"And the others must be the café staff who helped protect Tokyo!"

"I remember the Devil Ape and the Black Dog — that's them!"

"No wonder they helped us… They're from Tokyo, where ghouls and humans live in peace now."

One by one, the crowd realized who they were.

The fear quickly faded.

They knew the café's people wouldn't harm them.

Meanwhile, Byakuya was scanning the beach, appearing wherever someone was in danger and saving them without hesitation.

Before long, the entire enemy ghoul group had been wiped out by the Anteiku crew.

Eto had crushed the arrogant leader's skull without even bothering to eat him — he was too weak to be worth the effort — and then happily skipped back to Byakuya's side.

To the crowd, she looked like an innocent, cheerful green-haired girl.

But remembering her monstrous Kakuja form, they quickly erased any idea of approaching her casually.

Even though they were sure she wouldn't hurt them, the image of her transformation was not one they could forget.

Now that the beach was safe, Byakuya, Eto, and the rest of the group were hailed as heroes by the people around them.

Several minutes later, the local authorities finally arrived.

Of course, it wasn't the CCG — it was a regional agency modeled after it.

Every area needed someone to regulate ghouls, but the CCG had only ever been responsible for Tokyo. Other regions handled their own affairs.

Byakuya wasn't about to criticize their slow response.

They weren't the real CCG, after all. There was no point in holding them to the old standard—especially now that the CCG had changed its name and structure entirely.

As a key figure in the incident, Byakuya agreed to answer a few questions.

When he stated his name, the investigator froze in shock.

"You're… the Byakuya, Chairman of the TSC in Tokyo?" he asked in disbelief.

"That's me" Byakuya replied calmly.

"I just came here to relax with some friends, and… well, things escalated unexpectedly."

"My deepest apologies, sir" the investigator said, bowing.

"We never should've allowed a situation that forced you to take action yourself."
