Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!

Chapter 739: The Interrogation.

The room had gone silent, except for the faint rustle of fabric as the unconscious queen's body rested motionless on the silk-lined bedsheets.

Light filtered through the window, the very one Noah had closed before to prevent the soul fragment of the general of the Red Dawn Cult from escaping or causing a scene.

Noah stood still for a moment, letting the silence settle like dust.

Then, slowly, he turned and looked at the only other conscious person in the room. He had a lot of questions he needed answers to, and he was not going to let her go until he was certain of everything about her.

Wen Ji's breath caught in her throat as his eyes landed on her.

There was no malice in his gaze. Just a serene tranquility. But his sharp voice made it clear she had no way of escaping what was to come. She took a half step back before she caught herself.

"You," Noah said, his voice low but clear, "will tell me everything about the deal you made with that woman."

Wen Ji's lips trembled. Her mind screamed to run, to vanish into the spirit realm, but sadly she did not have the time to perform the ritual.

"But first, we have to change our venue." Noah glanced at the woman lying on the bed; her eyes fluttered as if she was starting to wake up.

Noah dropped the queen in her bedroom. Once she woke up, she was confused and asked why she was sleeping in Wen Ji's bed.

Noah lied that she fell unconscious in her room, and Wen Ji found him nearby and asked for his help. He said that it was the stress that caused her to collapse.

The queen seemed to have bought his explanation; she only recalled coming to visit Wen Ji for something, but then all she could remember was blanking out and then waking up in the bed.

Once they had dropped her in her personal quarters, Noah led Wen Ji to a more private hall in the castle.

Clank!

Arriving at the door of the room, he opened it for the woman and signaled for her to enter. Having no choice, Wen Ji chose to comply.

Even though she was stronger than the queen and at the fourth realm of the Golden Core Realm, Wen Ji felt Noah could kill her with a sway of his hand, and never did she have this kind of feeling.

As soon as Wen Ji stepped into the room, she saw Xin Yan sitting in a chair, sipping tea casually while glancing towards her, and froze. She also noticed the Emperor sitting opposite her in his own chair with his eyes closed.

She only snapped out of the shock when she felt Noah pat her shoulder, urging her to move forward.

"You can start from the beginning and tell us why you came here and how you came in contact with the woman from before." Noah spoke calmly in a soothing tone that unknowingly eased half of her tension as he walked past her and moved to stand behind Xin Yan and clasped her shoulders, squeezing them gently.

Xin Yan smiled softly and leaned her cheek on his palm without saying anything.

The emperor had also opened his eyes and looked at his concubine calmly.

Wen Ji saw all of this and let out a self-deprecating smile while saying, "What is the point of saying anything when you will dispose of me as soon as I reveal it all?"

Noah shook his head and assured her that they had no intention of taking action against her. Since she had yet to cause any major harm to the royal family, she was going to be spared and would only be punished lightly as long as she cooperated.

Seeing her glance at him in doubt, the emperor nodded in agreement.

Wen Ji stood in the center of the room, her hands clenched at her sides. The low crackle of the lanterns along the walls was the only sound for a long moment.

She exhaled shakily, then raised her head to look at them.

"I came to the Quan Empire a little over thirty years ago," she began, her voice quiet but clear. "Back then, I wasn't alone."

Her gaze dropped. "I had a partner. A cultivator named Mo Yue. He wasn't just my teammate—he was like a brother. We left the family to complete the commission and earn some resources for cultivation."

Xin Yan's brows furrowed slightly, but she remained quiet, sipping her tea.

Wen Ji went on, her tone heavy with memory. "We were commissioned to find dirt on a minor noble in the Quan Empire—some merchant-lord who was trying to worm his way into one of the clans. It was simple. Get in, uncover a few skeletons, then leave before anyone notices."

She gave a bitter chuckle.

"But that changed when she found us."

Wen Ji looked up, her face pale.

"We were still gathering information when a woman appeared to us. I don't know how she found us in the spirit realm. She did not threaten to expose us… Instead, she offered us a job with more pay and rewards."

Noah watched her closely, his hand still resting on Xin Yan's shoulder. The emperor's eyes narrowed slightly but remained silent.

Wen Ji continued, her voice trembling now. "She told us she needed eyes in the royal palace. Someone who could pass unnoticed and look for information.

Her throat tightened.

"We refused."

The word fell flat in the room, and her silence stretched for a beat too long before she forced herself to go on.

"The risk was too high. We didn't have that kind of reach or resources. So we said no. We planned to leave quietly the next day…"

She swallowed hard, blinking rapidly.

"…but she found us that night."

Xin Yan's eyes darkened slightly, while the Emperor leaned forward just a little.

"She trapped us in the mirror realm. Sealed off our exit. I—I still remember Mo Yue trying to fight her. I didn't even see what technique she used. One second he was screaming… the next…"
