Chapter 738: Soul Seed

"Noah…?" Wen Ji gasped in shock and confusion; neither one of the two women had sensed his presence in the room.

"How long have you been here?" The unknown girl was the first to snap out of her daze and asked in an indifferent voice. She tried to appear calm and collected, while on the inside she was none of those things.

Without even waiting for Noah to reply, she looked around the room and noticed an open window behind her from the corner of her eye. Without needing to think twice, she pushed her feet off the ground and threw herself towards the open window.

Clasp!

As her body reached the window, it closed shut on its own before she could pass through it, causing her to collide with the wooden frame.

"Now, now, no need to attract the attention of the people outside and make a scene." Noah stepped forward with a smile that said he had already seen through her plans, making the woman scowl in pain.

He walked past the frozen concubine, who looked like she wanted to run away from the place.

"It is not every day you come across a Spiritfarer…" As Noah stepped close to her, his eyes glanced at her once, making her freeze before moving on towards the girl in the pink dress standing up from the ground, "And… a demonic soul seed. How fascinating."

"When I checked the queen before, she did not have anything like that in her soul; not even the other members of the royal family were clean… so when?" Like a detective, Noah circled around the girl, trying to piece together what had happened, and suddenly he paused before exclaiming.

"Ah… was it the time when you—I mean the queen met with her son in the garden and talked for a long time? From what I know, it takes a lot of time to infest a soul with the demonic soul seed, to allow it to infest around the soul like a parasite, allowing someone to take over the body temporarily."

With each word Noah spoke, the coldness in the girl's eyes grew deeper.

"I must say, the illusion is quite… decent." The dismissive tone in Noah's voice irked the woman. Much to her shock, Noah waved his hands, and her appearance returned to normal. The queen was now standing before them, but her body was not under her control.

"Ha!" In her rage, the woman lunged at Noah, her eyes glowing with an ominous purple hue.

But just as the energy around her was about to take shape, it dispersed as if a gust of wind had blown away the flaring candle with a single blow.

The woman froze in the middle of the air and slumped on the ground.

"Come on… I am not here to fight." Noah looked at 'the queen,' collapsed on the ground before him, but her eyes were locked on him, glaring. "From what I understand, you are one of the generals of the Red Dawn Cult who separated a part of her soul long ago as a contingency backup plan. Quite the schemer you are."

Noah's words sounded like mocking to the young woman, but she could only glare at him and say, "You are making a big mistake by making an enemy out of us… You have no idea what we are capable of."

Her threats made Noah chuckle as he replied casually, "And it looks like you have no idea what I am capable of. It seems you separated this piece of soul a while ago, but it's fine. In a while you will understand everything when you deliver a message of mine to your leader."

Wen Ji watched the exchange from the side with sweat dripping down her face; the woman she had feared for a long time turned out to be a mere fragment of a soul, and Noah was powerful enough to defeat her…

And from the looks of it, he even knew about her actions from before.

'Did he know when I was following him in the spirit realm and led me around the castle on purpose?' The more she thought about it, the more she got convinced of her own guesses.

"What are you talking about?" the woman in the queen's body asked briskly, glaring daggers at Noah. She did have some guesses about Noah's identity, but she had nothing concrete.

Noah waved his hand, and a golden energy pierced through the skin of the queen, drawing a sickening groan from her soul.

"Argh! What are you doing?" The soul seed inside the body groaned in pain.

"Tell your leader, the time for pulling the strings in the background is over." Ignoring her words, Noah spoke in a firm and cold tone. "This is a declaration of war from me on the Red Dawn Cult."

The woman continued to scream, which made it difficult to speak anything, but Noah continued on without stopping.

"No matter how many of you there are and no matter where you hide, I will walk into your homes and into your holes and eradicate each one of them."

The soul seed's scream tore through the room, echoing with a twisted pitch that made Wen Ji's knees weaken. She clutched her chest and looked away, unable to bear the sheer pressure radiating from Noah.

Golden light coiled around his arm like a serpent. It pulsed with divine radiance that didn't belong in the mortal world.

"Noah—" the voice from the queen's mouth was no longer smooth; it was screeching in agony and hatred. "The Red Dawn Cult will have your head bowed at their feet."

Those were the last words that came from the queen's mouth. Deep inside her body, the golden energy from Noah had burned the rootlike black mass attached to the soul of the queen that appeared to be in a dormant state.

Once the roots were destroyed, the pulsing mass of the ominous-looking soul seed flew out of her body in a ghastly mist form. It lunged at Noah with a gory howl, but a barrier seemed to have blocked its path while making it scream in pain at the same time.

The wisp of dark mass turned around and fled the room, leaving Noah alone with Wen Ji.
