Chapter 22: Truth and More Truth
Aether was looking at Jean, as Jean eyes moved to see Eula
Jean just looked at Eula. "We are sad to say this Eula but...we think your father is behind this"
Eula just sighed and looked at her. "Makes a lot of sense, before you ask why am I not shocked I talked to him a few days ago and let's say it didn't go well".
Aether glanced at Eula, his concern evident. "What happened during that talk, Eula? Did he say anything suspicious?"
Eula crossed her arms, her expression hardening. "He's still obsessed with restoring the Lawrence Clan to its former glory, no matter the cost. Our conversation turned sour when I made it clear that I have no interest in his ambitions. He's bitter, and his mind is clouded with old ideals."
Jean frowned. "That's troubling. If he's involved with the Fatui, it could explain why they've been more active in Mondstadt lately. We can't let them gain a foothold here."
Eula nodded, her gaze determined. "I'll handle this, Jean. I'm prepared to confront my father if necessary, but I won't let him tarnish Mondstadt or the Lawrence name further."
Aether stepped forward, his hand gently touching Eula's shoulder. "You don't have to face this alone. We'll be with you every step of the way."
Jean gave a nod of agreement. "Exactly. We're all in this together. But be careful, Eula. If your father is truly working with the Fatui, he could be more dangerous than you expect."
Eula gave a small smile, appreciating the support. "Thank you. I know this won't be easy, but I won't let him succeed."
The room was filled with a sense of determination as they prepared for the difficult confrontation ahead. The fate of Mondstadt—and Eula's personal struggle—hung in the balance.
Aether just looked at him. "Is there someone from your clan that can help us?".
The moment Aether said that her mind went to someone, he looked 2 years younger than Eula, he had brown hair mixed with Light Blue, and brown eyes, as his was eyes were chocolate brown, his was wearing a somewhat Royal outfit.
Eula sighed. "There is my Younger brother and current head of the Lawrence Clan, Sairaorg Bael".
Aether blinked in surprise, processing the new information. "Wait, your brother is the head of the Lawrence Clan? And... Bael? That sounds like a completely different family."
Eula sighed deeply, folding her arms as she leaned against the table. "It's a long and complicated story. My father remarried into the Bael family, a noble house from a distant land. Sairaorg is my half-brother, but because of my father's ambitions, he inherited the position as head of the Lawrence Clan. He's not exactly thrilled about it, though."
Jean raised an eyebrow. "The Bael family? I've never heard of them in Mondstadt. Are they involved with the Fatui as well?"
Eula shook her head. "No, Sairaorg is nothing like my father. In fact, he despises our father's ideals and wants to move the clan away from its dark past. But... he's been dealing with pressure from the more conservative members of the family who still cling to those old ways."
Aether nodded slowly, piecing it together. "So, if we get him on our side, we might be able to disrupt whatever your father's planning with the Fatui."
Eula nodded. "Exactly. Sairaorg is strong and honourable. He'll help us, but convincing him might be a challenge. He's distanced himself from the Lawrence Clan's internal politics as much as possible."
Jean sighed, thinking it through. "It sounds like we have no choice but to reach out to him. If he's the current head, he could be the key to stopping your father and the Fatui."
Aether gave Eula a reassuring look. "We'll help you. Let's find your brother and figure out how to stop this together."
Eula smiled softly, a mixture of relief and determination in her eyes. "Thank you, Aether. I just hope Sairaorg is willing to listen."
Aether looked at her. "Come on, let's go and meet my brother-in-law. Should we take Luminis?".
Eula chuckled softly at Aether's remark, but then her expression turned thoughtful. "As much as I want Luminis to see his uncle, it might not be safe. Sairaorg has his enemies, and we don't know what we're walking into."
Aether nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you're right. We can't take any chances with his safety. Luminis is strong, but he's still a child."
Jean, who had been listening quietly, added, "I'll make sure Luminis is well taken care of while you're gone. Amber and Kaeya can help watch over him."
Aether smiled at Jean. "Thanks, Jean. That'll put us at ease while we're out there."
Eula crossed her arms, her tone turning serious. "Sairaorg is currently residing at our old estate just outside of Mondstadt. It's not a welcoming place, especially with the tension between him and our father. We should be prepared for anything."
Aether nodded. "Understood. We'll head out first thing in the morning. Hopefully, your brother is as reasonable as you say."
Eula gave him a wry smile. "Sairaorg is reasonable… but he's also proud. Convincing him to help won't be easy."
Aether grinned and shrugged. "I've dealt with worse. Let's get going and see what My brother-in-law has in store for us."
Meanwhile, in a different place, someone was training, he was doing his best to ignore the clan, he was muscular and on the bench was a vision, as Maid walked into the room she looked at the Man
The maid spoke. "Lord Sairaorg, we have a message from your sister"
Sairaorg just stopped and looked at her. "Eula sent a messenge, give me the letter, and thank you for informing me"
Sairaorg stood up from his training, sweat glistening on his muscular frame. He grabbed a towel and wiped his face as the maid handed him the letter. The maid bowed respectfully before leaving the room, allowing Sairaorg some privacy.
Sitting on the bench beside his vision, Sairaorg stared at the letter for a moment before breaking the seal and opening it. His sharp eyes scanned the parchment, quickly taking in the message from his sister.
As he read, his expression shifted from curiosity to concern. He crumpled the letter slightly in his hands and let out a deep sigh.
"Eula… what have you gotten yourself into this time?" he muttered under his breath. His thoughts raced as he considered the implications of her message. Their father's potential involvement in shady dealings, the request for his help, and—of course—Eula traveling with that foreigner, Aether.
Sairaorg placed the letter down, his gaze hardening. "It seems the Lawrence Clan is going to need me after all."
With that, he stood up, his muscular form casting a large shadow in the dimly lit room. His vision on the bench caught his eye, and he reached for it, feeling its cold power in his palm.
"Sister, I'll see you soon. If our father has truly gone down this path… I'll do whatever it takes to protect you and the clan."
He then called for the maid again, his tone decisive. "Prepare my armor and sword. Inform my retainers to ready for travel. We're heading to Mondstadt."
The maid bowed once more, immediately leaving to carry out her lord's orders. Sairaorg stared out of the window, his gaze set on the distant horizon, where Mondstadt lay.
"I won't let this family fall."
Sairaorg's preparations were swift and efficient. His retainers worked quickly, equipping him with his finely crafted armor and preparing his steed for the journey. He could sense the urgency in his sister's message and was determined to address the situation with the gravity it deserved.
As he mounted his horse and began the journey towards Mondstadt, he reflected on his relationship with Eula. Despite their strained interactions over the years, he had always respected her resilience and strength. The Lawrence Clan was notorious for its internal strife, but family bonds, no matter how strained, still held weight.
The journey to Mondstadt was long but uneventful. As Sairaorg approached the city, he was struck by its vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, a stark contrast to the tension he felt within. He made his way to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, the towering building standing out against the clear blue sky.
Inside, Aether, Eula, and the others awaited his arrival. The room fell silent as Sairaorg entered, his imposing figure and regal demeanor making a strong impression. Eula's eyes lit up upon seeing her brother, and despite the tension, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.
"Eula," Sairaorg greeted with a nod, his voice deep and commanding. He then turned to Aether, assessing him with a critical eye. "And you must be Aether. I've heard a lot about you."
Aether met his gaze steadily. "Sairaorg, I presume. It's good to finally meet you. Eula has spoken highly of you."
Sairaorg's expression softened slightly, though he remained serious. "High praise, I hope. I understand there's an issue that requires our attention."
Jean, standing nearby, stepped forward. "Lord Sairaorg, thank you for coming on such short notice. We have reason to believe that members of the Lawrence Clan are involved in some troubling activities, and your insight could be invaluable."
Sairaorg nodded. "I see. Well, I'm here now. Please, brief me on what you know."
As the group gathered around, Jean, Aether, and Eula filled Sairaorg in on the details. They explained the recent discoveries about the Fatui's involvement and the connections to the Lawrence Clan.
Sairaorg listened intently, his brow furrowing as he absorbed the information. "This situation is more complex than I anticipated. If my father is indeed involved, it's imperative that we act carefully."
Eula looked at her brother with concern. "What do you suggest we do?"
Sairaorg considered this for a moment. "First, we need to gather more concrete evidence. I suggest we investigate the Lawrence Clan's recent activities and any interactions they might have had with external parties. We should also be cautious of potential spies or informants within the city."
Aether nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a solid plan. We'll need to be discreet. The last thing we want is to alert them to our investigation."
Sairaorg turned to his sister. "Eula, I'll need your help with this. Your knowledge of the clan will be crucial. And Aether, your connections and skills will be valuable in uncovering the truth."
Eula looked at Aether, her expression a mix of relief and apprehension. "It's good to have you both on this. We'll need all the help we can get."
As the group began to formulate their plan, a renewed sense of determination filled the room. The stakes were high, and the path ahead was fraught with danger, but with their combined efforts, they were ready to face the challenges that lay ahead.
Little did they know, their investigation would soon uncover deeper secrets and confrontations that would test their resolve and alliances in ways they never anticipated.
Then the door to the room, Opened as it shows Two Children one was Luminis and the other was Klee, as Kaeya was trying to catch them, But then Luminis went to Aether and Eula
Luminis just looked at his parents. "Mana, Papa I found you"
Sairaorg blinked, he then looked at Luminis and what the Dragon Child had said, then looked at Aether and Eula, he blinked, Before putting his Pyro Vision in his Gauntlet, and in a burst of fiery speed, he tried to attack, But Aether blocked it with his sword, let's just say Aether felt like he meet death.
Sairaorg just looked at Aether in anger. "How dare you touch my Big Sister, die".
Sairaorg then looked at Eula. "And since when did you get a child, and why with him?".
His eyes moved to Luminis, and he meet the little boy's eyes, his over protective Brother mode was on, and he was not listing to him Aether had started a relationship with his sister for 5 years got married and had a kid, he didn't know the story of Luminis Being Dragon not human and also being a few weeks old
The atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically as Sairaorg's anger flared. The initial shock of meeting Luminis and the unexpected confrontation with Aether had set him on edge. His protective instincts had kicked in, and he wasn't prepared for the full story.
Aether, still in a defensive stance, tried to calm the situation. "Sairaorg, wait! There's a misunderstanding here. I'm not the enemy."
Sairaorg's eyes remained fixed on Aether, his anger not subsiding. "How can you say that? You're the one who's with my sister and now you've got a child? You've invaded our family!"
Eula stepped forward, placing a calming hand on Sairaorg's arm. "Sairaorg, please. Let me explain."
Sairaorg's gaze softened slightly as he looked at his sister. "Eula, you've never kept secrets from me before. What's going on?"
Eula took a deep breath, her voice steady but full of emotion. "Aether and I have been together for a long time. Luminis is our child, but he's not just any child. He's special, and there are things about him you don't know."
Sairaorg looked at Luminis, who had a mix of curiosity and concern in his eyes. The child's presence and the protective bond he shared with his parents were evident, but the full picture was still missing.
Aether, lowering his sword, decided to address Sairaorg directly. "Sairaorg, I understand your anger and protectiveness. But I assure you, Eula and Luminis mean everything to me. Luminis is a dragon, not just a human child. He's a being of immense importance, and I swear to you, he and Eula are my top priority."
Sairaorg, although still wary, could see the sincerity in Aether's eyes. He relaxed his stance slightly but remained guarded. "Alright. If you truly care for them, then prove it. I need to know that you're not a threat."
Eula nodded in agreement. "Sairaorg, we'll tell you everything you need to know. But first, we need to focus on the task at hand. There are more pressing issues we need to address regarding the Lawrence Clan and the Fatui."
Sairaorg hesitated but eventually nodded. "Fine. I'll listen. But if I find out you're hiding anything or endangering my sister and nephew, I won't hesitate to act."
Kaeya, who had been watching the interaction, stepped forward. "Maybe it's best if we all take a moment to sit down and talk this through. There's a lot to explain, and we need to be on the same page."
As the group settled into a more relaxed setting, Eula began explaining the situation. She detailed the origins of Luminis, their relationship, and the circumstances that had led to the current situation with the Lawrence Clan and the Fatui.
Sairaorg listened intently, his anger slowly melting away as he absorbed the full story. The realization of the dangers they faced and the importance of their mission began to override his initial reactions.
By the end of the discussion, Sairaorg's expression had softened considerably. "I see now. I didn't realize the full extent of everything. I apologize for my actions earlier. I was just concerned for my family."
Aether offered a reassuring nod. "Apology accepted. We're all on the same side here. Let's work together to handle the threats we're facing and protect what's important to us."
With the tensions eased and understanding reached, the group turned their attention back to the task at hand. They knew they had a challenging journey ahead, but with their combined efforts and newfound unity, they were ready to face whatever came their way.
