Chapter 47: Misunderstanding? Lei Dian Is Really Embarrassed

"Ying, are you still trying to hide this from me?" Lei Dian Zhen asked, her voice filled with concern.

Her reaction wasn't unexpected; she had always been more restrained. Before, she had only been a lingering soul, unable to perceive or interfere with the outside world. But now, having fallen into Inazuma's dream, she finally had the chance to connect with Ying again—a rare opportunity. She wanted to impart one final lesson to her sister.

"What am I hiding?" Ying wondered. Had some embarrassing secret of hers been discovered? If Zhen knew, it would definitely be a huge embarrassment for her.

"That child who looks like you... that's your child with Su Ran, right?"

"???"

Ying, Su Ran, and Kamisato Ayaka all exchanged bewildered glances. Such a bold statement, but why did none of them have any memory of such a thing?

"Lady Zhen… did you misunderstand something?" Kamisato Ayaka asked gently, not believing there could be any romantic relationship between Su Ran and Ying. If there were, it would likely be more of a father-daughter dynamic! Ever since Lady Ying had reawakened, her demeanor had been more mascot-like. Only today had Kamisato Ayaka seen her act so imposing.

"Did I misunderstand?" Lei Dian Zhen asked, her heart sinking. Was it possible that the three of them—Ying, Su Ran, and Ayaka—were hiding something from her? Had she become an outsider in her own family, shut out of their secrets?

After all, she was Ying's sister! And she wasn't some illusion born from a dream. Su Ran knew that very well. How could her own sister's family not count as family?

"Then Ying, what about the child you're talking about?" Lei Dian Zhen asked, turning her attention back to her sister.

Faced with the question, Ying lowered her head, unsure how to explain. Could she admit that the "child" Zhen was referring to was actually herself? Ever since she had reawakened, she had been stuck in a smaller form, being carried around like a mascot, even allowing mortals to call her "Xiaoying." As much as she cared about her appearance, now that she had truly returned, she cared about her dignity even more.

"That child..." Ying hesitated, her face showing uncertainty. This made Su Ran nervous. Was Ying really trying to fabricate some rumor to get Zhen to help her? Could she be suggesting they had a child together to gain Zhen's support? Was that really necessary?

"You admitted it before, and Yae Miko also confirmed it to me. Could it all be false?" Lei Dian Zhen asked, feeling hurt. Even now, face-to-face, Ying still refused to admit the truth? If what Kamisato Ayaka said was true—that it was all a misunderstanding—why didn't she just explain? What was Ying hiding?

A laugh broke the tense silence. Yae Miko had, for some reason, reverted to her human form and was watching the sisters' confrontation with amusement. It had clearly been too long since she had last had this much fun. Her laughter caught everyone's attention.

Miko winked slyly at Su Ran and Ying, but they both shook their heads, confused by her intentions.

"Okay, Lady Zhen, let me clarify," Miko finally said. "That child you're talking about… is actually Su Ran's and my child."

Both Su Ran and Ying shot her puzzled glances. Was she trying to help, or make the situation worse?

"Yae Miko, please stop messing around," Su Ran said, shaking his head. How could his and Miko's child possibly look like Ying?

"Then… Lady Zhen, have you considered that the 'child' you're referring to is actually Ying herself?" Kamisato Ayaka finally suggested, hoping to clear up the misunderstanding.

Ying quickly reached out her hand to stop Su Ran from speaking, but after a moment's thought, she withdrew her hand. Lei Dian Zhen noticed this and sighed.

"Mr. Su Ran, are you going to acknowledge me as your sister-in-law? I clearly heard you calling me 'sister' earlier."

Su Ran paused. It was true—he had called her "sister." She had heard it loud and clear.

"So, what's the reason? Why have you all conspired to deceive me?" Lei Dian Zhen asked, her expression filled with worry. She looked so pitiful that it tugged at everyone's heartstrings. But Su Ran was not about to admit to something that wasn't true!

While it was true that Su Ran had feelings for Ying, that didn't mean anything had come of it. Becoming a father out of nowhere? That was impossible.

"But… Ying and I have only known each other for less than a week. How could we possibly have a child?" Su Ran asked with a wry smile.

His rhetorical question left Lei Dian Zhen perplexed. Less than a week? How could they have a child in that time?

Lei Dian Zhen's mind started to race. Demon gods were much more powerful than humans, and their process of conceiving offspring would only take longer, not shorter. Could it really be that she had misunderstood everything?

"If Lady Zhen doesn't believe me, I could demonstrate with Ying in person to see if we can have a nephew or niece for you within a week?" Su Ran joked, though he remained serious.

Ying nodded along, but then suddenly tilted her head, realizing what he had said. A week? Giving Zhen a nephew or niece?

With whom?

Without hesitation, Ying pinched the soft skin on Su Ran's waist. Su Ran immediately realized that perhaps Lei Dian Zhen had really misunderstood the whole situation.

Lei Dian Zhen's expression turned embarrassed. Su Ran's earlier compliment about her appearance (comparing her to Ying) hadn't made her feel shy, but now she was genuinely flustered. She looked down at the chessboard, trying to distract herself.

What should she do next? Could she make a comeback in the game?

Su Ran glanced at the chessboard and made his move, sealing the game.

"Checkmate!" he declared triumphantly.

Lei Dian Zhen stared at the board in disbelief. She had been so distracted that she hadn't even noticed her loss. She scowled at Su Ran. "You didn't even give me a chance! I'll remember this grudge!"

Only Kamisato Ayaka remained focused on the chess game itself. "Wasn't it supposed to be Lady Zhen's turn? Master Su Ran, you cheated!"

Lei Dian Zhen, still lost in her embarrassment, didn't even have time to think about whose turn it had been.
