Game Overlord: Conqueror of Worlds

Chapter 22: Massive Explosion

Chapter 22: Massive Explosion

Without the leopard, their main force in battle, the Squad' attack speed significantly decreased, and the druid became more cautious, not daring to let the two-headed dog leave his control range.

As a result, the two-headed dog's attacks became more frenzied, focusing all its attention on attacking. The old man's head would occasionally shout a few words, mocking the Squad.

After about three minutes, the leopard had already regained its fighting strength and rejoined the battle. The two-headed dog's health finally dropped to 33%.

At this moment, the two-headed dog pounced on another specimen jar, knocking out a deep-sea octopus from within.

Unlike the previous Behemoth, this time the deep-sea octopus had three different tentacles trying to wrap around the two-headed dog. It was clear that this was another buff of the boss, with each different tentacle representing a different enhancement.

Perhaps the earlier battle with the Squad had given the two-headed dog some confidence; it actively chose one of the tentacles.

After swallowing the tentacle, three strange tentacles grew directly from the back of the two-headed dog, constantly waving and increasing the intensity of its attacks on the Squad.

However, this choice made the Squad breathe a sigh of relief because the remaining two tentacles represented the octopus's regeneration ability and its ability to change colors.

These two abilities would have caused more trouble for the Squad, but this full-scale attack ability was not of much use to them.

Since the druid had already made a mistake once, he would not let any more mistakes happen. While the tentacles were attacking from all directions, the giant bear he had transformed into grew even larger, blocking over eighty percent of the attacks.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Squad launched a burst attack, knocking the two-headed dog to the ground before it could react.

The final blow was delivered by the druid. Seeing that the two-headed dog had lost most of its fighting power, the druid leaped from the sky and landed heavily on the two-headed dog. The impact shook the ground, and more than half of the two-headed dog's body was sent flying. Some parts even landed in front of Leon.

After confirming the two-headed dog's death, the hunter approached the corpse and searched for a while before finally finding the old man's head.

The head still seemed to have some consciousness, but it could no longer speak. The hunter gestured for Leon to open the corpse while he carried the head to a device at the back of the laboratory. He held the head's eyes up to the device, and a metal staircase descended from the ceiling.

Once the staircase was secured, the hunter tossed the head aside and turned to Leon, saying, "We need to rest for a night; otherwise, more people will die fighting the final hidden boss."

Leon, who had just picked up the items dropped by the Headmaster, remembered that a thief had already died twice in this dungeon. He quickly asked, "Is the thief alright?"

"He's fine; this is a dungeon where resurrection is allowed. You just need to make up for the death penalty after leaving," the thief replied nonchalantly. "It's a good chance to take a year's rest."

The shaman chimed in, "Don't worry, dying in a dungeon is common for us. It's just a year without playing the game, not a year without living. You'll understand when you reach Level 1."

Leon nodded in confusion and then focused his attention on the three items he had just acquired. Unlike the previous minor bosses, the Headmaster was the final boss of the Land of Desolation's coastal area, so the loot dropped this time was not two items like the minor bosses but three in total.

The first item Leon found was a cloak made from various skins. The main body of the cloak was made of two different wolf pelts, one blue and one green. The remaining parts used the skin around the eyes of many creatures, making it look like countless eyes were growing on the cloak.

[Dual-Headed Vulture Cloak (Magic Eye)]

[Quality: Lv1 (Purple/Cloak)]

[Attributes: +1 Strength, +2 Constitution, +1 Spirit]

[Equipment Feature: Sight Break (Can sense all surveillance within 10 meters)]

[Class: Dual Mage-Warrior]

[Level Requirement: Lv1]

After obtaining this piece of equipment, Leon took a deep breath. Among all the equipment dropped by the bosses in this dungeon, only this item suited his class, and it was even purple quality, which made him incredibly excited. All his initial nervousness disappeared, and he reached again into the two-headed dog's corpse.

The next item he found was a rusted wrench about the length of Leon's arm. It looked like it could be used as a hammer and was a weapon, but its attributes leaned toward magic affinity.

[Manufactured Despair (One-Handed Hammer)]

[Quality: Lv1 (Blue)]

[Attack: 3-4]

[Attributes: +3 Spirit]

[Class: Priest, Druid]

[Level Requirement: Lv1]

Leon set this item aside since it wasn't immediately useful. He looked forward to seeing what other good things were left.

With this thought, Leon extracted a one-handed sword from the two-headed dog's body. The sword seemed to be made from the two-headed dog's teeth, with the hilt roughly wrapped in fur strips, giving it a rather crude appearance.

However, its attributes matched the two-headed dog's own, wavering between physical and magical affinity.

[Ravenous Desire (One-Handed Sword)]

[Quality: Lv1 (Blue)]

[Attack: 2-4]

[Attributes: +3 Spirit]

[Equipment Feature: Coagulate (Chance for spell damage to cause bleeding)]

[Class: Mage, Warlock, Spellblade]

[Level Requirement: Lv1]

After turning these three items into cards and storing them, Leon turned his attention back to the laboratory.

By this time, the Squad had finished cleaning up the battlefield, and the shaman had set up a table, preparing to rest and camp.

Seeing Leon look toward the laboratory, the hunter smiled and said, "I heard there are some research materials in this lab that you might want to check out, but you can't take them out of the dungeon."

"Can't take them out of the dungeon?" Leon nodded. When he first started school, he had learned about this restriction regarding dungeon materials.

These materials couldn't be converted into cards like equipment. You couldn't just click a button to learn or upgrade them; you had to memorize and understand them yourself.

Of course, if you couldn't understand them, then finding these materials would be useless, merely decorative. Even if you memorized them all and wrote them down outside, no one would acknowledge them.

Under these circumstances, Leon lost some interest and casually searched the laboratory, eventually picking up the Headmaster's experimental journal and reading it as a book. He spent the entire night doing so.
