Chapter 15: Murloc BOSS

Chapter 15: Murloc BOSS

The battle seemed slow, but it was actually very fast. The sun had not yet set, and the Squad had already killed all the minions in the murloc village. Only a few murlocs remained on the largest platform, standing there in a daze. The BOSS of the murloc village still had not appeared, and everything seemed so eerie.

After sneaking into a house closest to the platform, Leon saw from afar that the thief on the rooftop was waving at him, as if signaling Leon to ring the bell again.

Although he knew that ringing the bell again would be of little use, Leon still followed the thief’s request and struck the bronze bell in front of him.

The moment the bronze bell rang, Leon noticed that many bubbles began to emerge on the water’s surface behind the platform. A gigantic fish head slowly rose from underwater.

This fish head was as tall as a murloc house, its eyes even larger than a hunter's head, and its arm-thick fangs were covered with various water plants.

Beneath the fish head were three enormous tentacles, each over ten meters long, with spikes, bone plates, and nozzles at the ends.

[Murloc King Gaddu]

[Race: Modified Humanoid Creature]

[Level: Lv1 (9 stars) BOSS Template]

[Attributes: Strength 12, Agility 9, Constitution 9, Spirit 7]

[Description: A modified murloc leader, fully enhanced for underwater combat. Its mobility on land is minimal. The only platform it can fight on is the central platform of the murloc village, which is completely underwater...]

As soon as the fish head appeared, the remaining murlocs on the platform all knelt down, as if praying or perhaps begging for mercy.

But the fish head was unmoved. A tentacle with spikes flashed, and several murlocs were skewered and fed into the giant fish’s mouth.

At this moment, the Squad made their move. Leading the charge was not the druid transformed into a bear, but the thief. With a flicker, he leaped onto the platform, hopping back and forth between several boxes on the platform.

The thief’s appearance enraged the fish head. Its spiked tentacles flashed up and down, seemingly trying to pin the thief to the platform.

Leon noticed that every time the spikes were about to impale someone, they would be raised high, and at that moment, the hunter, hidden somewhere, would shoot an arrow to knock the tentacle back.

Meanwhile, the druid and shaman also appeared on the platform, but instead of helping the thief, they headed toward the back of the platform.

The giant fish head seemed to understand something and swung its other two tentacles to block their advance. However, the druid, now transformed into a lion, was as quick as the thief. Whether it was the heavy blow from the bone plate or the toxic spray from the nozzle, he dodged them all with ease.

When the druid reached the back of the platform, the shaman also arrived. Without a word, the shaman planted three water totems at the edge of the platform.

These totems gave the druid a bubble shield, a detoxification aura, and a healing spring.

At that moment, the druid leaped high and plunged into the water.

From his vantage point on the high platform, Leon saw that the moment the druid entered the water, his body transformed from a lion into a massive killer whale, with sharp teeth seemingly biting into something.

As soon as the druid entered the water, the hunter finally emerged from hiding. His leopard charged forward in the shortest time possible, joining the thief in constantly jumping around on the platform.

This time, the thief and the leopard were not just dodging. They had a division of labor: one dodged while the other tried to jump to the side of the giant fish to attack its unused tentacles, preventing them from retracting into the water.

Meanwhile, the hunter, who had climbed onto a rooftop, focused on the last tentacle that wasn’t controlled. Every time it tried to move, an arrow would knock it back.

In this way, the giant fish head had no way to counter the druid’s attacks underwater.

Before long, large amounts of blood began to surface in the water.

However, the battle wouldn’t remain calm for long. After less than three minutes of such attacks, the giant fish head roared, and its three tentacles flailed wildly, slamming down on the platform without care.

Faced with this situation, the shaman reacted the fastest. He retreated to the center of the platform and planted an earth and a water totem into the ground.

Under the totems’ effects, a large mud circle appeared at the shaman’s feet. The shaman grabbed the center of the mud circle with both hands and forcefully pulled upward, forming a mud-made protective dome.

The thief and the hunter’s leopard quickly dashed into the protective dome, avoiding the fish head’s frenzied attacks.

The druid, who had been in the water, also jumped up, landing on the edge of the platform. By now, he had transformed into a massive bear, his fur bristling like rows of iron spikes.

Only the hunter, standing on a distant rooftop, made no effort to defend himself. Instead, he loaded a bronze arrow onto his bow, slowly and deliberately raising his longbow, aiming at the raging giant fish head.

At this moment, the fish head’s roar reached its peak, and all three tentacles rose to their highest point. Even Leon, hidden on the high platform, could see a gap in the fish head’s giant mouth. The hunter’s right hand released the arrow, and the bronze arrow flew like a shooting star, piercing right through that small gap.

Then came a loud boom. The giant fish head staggered back three to five meters, almost falling into the water.

With this blow, the druid reacted immediately. He raised his hand, casting an entangling thorn spell that wrapped around one of the giant fish head’s tentacles.

At the same time, the thief and the leopard, like two bolts of lightning, leaped off the platform. The thief’s daggers plunged into the fish head’s right eye, while the leopard’s sharp teeth bit into one of its tentacles.

By now, the fish head had lost most of its combat power. Realizing its predicament, it didn’t fight to the death like other BOSSes but instead tried to swim away.

But it was too late. The druid and shaman on the platform were not going to let it escape. The druid, now back in human form, cast a second entangling thorn spell, heavily binding the fish head.

The shaman, abandoning healing and support, threw a totem into the water. Under the totem’s effect, the area within three meters of it turned into ice.

The hunter, who had rushed to the platform, unleashed a rapid volley of arrows at the fish head, no longer concerned about dodging or defense.

With the four attacking at full strength, the giant fish head didn’t get far before sinking back into the water.

Shortly after, a surge of blood-filled bubbles rose from the depths, and the entire body of the BOSS floated to the surface.

From afar, Leon saw that this BOSS no longer looked like a murloc at all. Aside from the giant fish head and three tentacles, it had only a regular-sized murloc body, which, beneath the enormous fish head, looked like a mere dot on a balloon.

Beneath the murloc’s body were five fan-shaped fish tails. One of them was the largest and even had some bone spurs attached, while the others were all small tails used for steering.

From this, it was clear why this BOSS had always stayed submerged behind the platform.
