Chapter 737: 723 Chief Knight's Pre-Battle

At the Privy Council of the United Empire on the Iridium Star, due to the vast affairs and personnel, the council actually occupied an entire small city on the planet Iridium Star as its office location. There were also military academies belonging to the Empire Army, relevant military technology research institutes, coordination units between the Privy Council, the Iridium Star government, and other agencies, along with various service facilities—altogether naturally forming the scale of a city.

This time, appointed by Chancellor Bai Zhongqi as the supreme commander of the military operation, Zang Xingyan did not seem to feel much tension. This contrasted sharply with the busy and tense crowds of the other units of the Privy Council; even Xu Lanzhou, who was not directly involved in military command, appeared more serious than Zang Xingyan.

The Chief Knight's tasks were limited; he reviewed the plans and tasks allocated by a few S-class artificial intelligences and then nodded his approval. The various units went on to busy themselves with their respective tasks. He did not even make any modifications to the plans proposed by the S-class AIs and other staff; he seemed completely carefree.

Kentarou Yakushimaru, now grown into a tall and slender young man and one of the Knights of Destiny, felt a bit restless. He watched the Chief Knight, who was sitting in the command center peeling an orange, and asked with concern, "Is this really okay? Although we have some advantages in terms of military strength, the Fallen Empire is no ordinary opponent, and they have a horde of Divine Generals. Plus, considering that we have four planets in their hands, we can't help but consider the situation our people are facing."

Zang Xingyan was smiling, his words, however, sent a chill down one's spine: "The places that have fallen shouldn't be considered too much; looking back only causes greater damage. If you are worried about those Divine Generals, you needn't be. Many generals in our Privy Council of the United Empire are no less capable than them. After all, they come from different civilizations, each with their own schemes. Unlike them, the people of the Iridium Star can unite for a single purpose, striving and even sacrificing for it."

Kentarou was inherently gentle and couldn't bring himself to glare at Zang Xingyan, but he stared off blankly to one side, saying, "Is this really the only way?"

Zang Xingyan himself was a Star God, a creature closest to the cosmic laws and the law of cause and effect, and naturally had less concern for ordinary individuals. This guy always seemed very down-to-earth, but in reality, he was no longer just an ordinary member of the crowd.

The Chief Knight stood up, threw the last segment of the orange into his mouth, and patted the youngest knight, saying, "Take it easy, this is war in the universe. As a Knight of Destiny, you know it's ruthless, but you must accept it."

Jun Jiushao, with her silky long hair, walked up from behind and said coolly, "Only with iron and sacrifice can final victory be achieved, and only final victory can stop the people throughout the Galaxy from waging wars and allow them to develop the civilization they need."

Zang Xingyan looked at her with a smile, saying, "Knight Thunderous Voice, your enlightenment seems quite high. Is this how you calm your own heart?"

Jun Jiushao, who was always straightforward, replied softly, "Whether it's for peace of mind or personal beliefs, as long as one can keep moving forward, it is enough."

Zang Xingyan nodded, "True that."

Jun Jiushao dropped the topic, saying, "The Ninth Prince of the Lien Xi Empire, the Chancellor has assigned his matter to our council of the Twelve Knights of Destiny. What do you think about this?"

"I have no opinion. Poor Morin, chasing stars across half the Galaxy, only to find his father at home killed by his own uncle, almost all his siblings lost. Now, his hatred for the Fallen Empire and Lien Xi Civilization must be deeper than ours. I plan to request Supreme Command from the Chancellor, station it in his fleet, and integrate them into the military order of our United Empire."

Jun Jiushao asked, "Are there any issues? Their equipment and training habits differ from ours, and in fact, we do not lack such forces. Is it necessary to include them?"

"It's definitely necessary. This great war in the Galaxy on the surface seems like the Fallen Empire's war to suppress calamities, but in reality, it is still a battle between the Galactic Emperor and our Chancellor for the ultimate authority over the entire Galaxy. The victor becomes the true ruler of the Galaxy, the loser completely swept into the dustbin. I'm still very optimistic about our Iridium Star. However, in becoming the true hegemon of the Galaxy, the Chancellor probably won't bloodily cleanse every planet, turning them into a fully Iridiumized Administrative Star. So, the Chancellor will likely still demand self-development from each civilization, after they hand over major authority and military power. We need people from other civilizations like Morin who can support us; the United Empire itself is, after all, a convergence of different cultures."

Jun Jiushao, with a hint of sarcasm, "Giving a status of cultural autonomy to different civilizations, like the ingrate Earth?"

"You talk like I'm from Earth and you're from the Iridium Star. You were born on Earth, how can you look down on your birth planet like that?"

Jun Jiushao's eyes hid a hint of loss and helplessness, "Earth has never been a place with a common consciousness or shared memory. Over the years, many who support the Chancellor and aspire to the Universe have left there. Too many, clinging to old-era memories, have not truly entered the Intergalactic Era; they are lost, not accepting their identity, also blind to reality, are in fact the most pitiable people."

The Chief Knight smiled, "Either way, after this war, Earth will never be as it was before. I plan to suggest direct jurisdiction over Earth, disregarding all its various ethnicities, and appoint or test them for public office in the form of Iridium Star. They should serve the United Empire as expected."

He added, "Sometimes, excessive privileges and leniency are what start divergences."

"Exactly," agreed Jun Jiushao.

The whimsical Chief Knight suddenly said, "Those guys from the Fallen Empire are probably about ready to make a large-scale breakout soon, having held back for so many days. It's about time we fought this battle."

Curious, Kentarou asked, "Does the Chancellor really not plan to participate in this battle?"

"Correct. Blade Empress won't be engaging in combat. The Chancellor plans to take the war to the enemy's home. Having been called a calamity for so long without performing some terrifying act of destruction, how would that work? Destruction and slaughter are indeed what a true calamity should do, right?" Zang Xingyan's face carried a sincere smile.
