Frozen: The Child of Magic

Chapter 12: The Celebration of Birth

The corpse lying on the ground bore a striking resemblance to the beast that had terrorized the city—so much so that even those who had witnessed the incident firsthand couldn't tell the difference.

But the truth? That wolf… was dead.

Yes, it was completely still. Life had long fled its body.

Far to the south of the continent, a messenger strode briskly down a corridor, clutching a sealed letter. Upon reaching a large door, he pushed it open and entered.

A sharp, low voice echoed from within, laced with malice:

"Those damned stone creatures! They've ruined my plan… Tell them: if they manage to capture that child, bring him to me. If not, do nothing rash… even kidnapping one of those stony pests would be worthwhile."

"Yes, sir!"

The figure replied before vanishing into the shadows to contact their agents in Arendelle.

Charrik chuckled in the darkness.

"My dear brother… and his noble wife… What you left behind was little more than a mild headache. But no matter… it will vanish soon enough."

Evening fell upon Arendelle, and it was a different kind of night from the one before. The streets buzzed with life, lights were strung from corner to corner, and decorations adorned every wall—an atmosphere not unlike New Year's Eve.

The reason? Queen Iduna had given birth to twins—a boy and a girl. King Agnarr saw this celebration as both a moment of joy and a political opportunity. With tensions rising in the south, every moment had to be staged to perfection.

The Royal Banquet Hall

The hall brimmed with guests. Neighboring nations had sent their envoys to offer congratulations. By now, everyone knew that Agnarr was no ordinary king—a man who had built his kingdom with an iron will in just a few short years.

"Ha ha ha! My noble King, I offer you my deepest congratulations: twins! A prince and a princess!"

Count Weston beamed, flanked by two guards. He had come to Arendelle hoping to strengthen ties with the king—pursuing mutual interests.

"Welcome, Count. But don't overdo the compliments—say instead that my burdens have just doubled!"

King Agnarr laughed heartily, outwardly pleased, though his mind carefully weighed each word spoken.

Soon their conversation shifted toward alliances and cooperation. Agnarr navigated it all with practiced poise—what would come of it, he would decide in due time.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the hall, the noble ladies had surrounded Queen Iduna—or rather, her children. Their eyes sparkled with dreams and scheming, each silently assessing whether one of her offspring might one day become a royal match for their own kin.

"Iduna! You're truly a mother now! I remember how you used to envy us!"

One of the women joked warmly.

"Look at the little prince! See his face? He'll be just as handsome as his father—perhaps even stronger!"

Another said as she pinched little Il's cheek.

Laughter filled the air.

"Are you already thinking of marrying him off? You don't even have daughters!"

Il, nestled in his mother's arms, inwardly sighed:

'Such flattery… No one sees the truth.'

Soon the focus shifted to Elsa, and with it came more gasps of awe and admiration.

'Hypocrites.' Il muttered inwardly, a sarcastic smile tugging at his lips.

The women drifted into conversations about family, homes, and children. Even Queen Iduna allowed herself to be swept up in their warmth, momentarily freed from the stillness of royal life.

Elsewhere in the hall…

"Hey, Caron. Shouldn't we get a little distance from Harl? Look at how people are staring at him!"

Sosi whispered, eyeing their friend who was devouring food as if he hadn't eaten in a year.

"I agree. Bringing him here might've been a terrible mistake."

Caron chuckled, and the two of them slipped away to a quiet corner, observing the scene in peace.

"I'll stay here and keep an eye on him. I'm going to give Soth some food," Sosi said, carrying a plate heaped with roasted meat.

Their wolf companion, Soth, had been ordered to remain in their guest room. His appearance still drew attention, and the incident with the wild wolf hadn't fully blown over.

"Don't worry. Go on—I'll watch him," Caron reassured him with a smile.

As the banquet continued, King Agnarr finally managed to free himself from Count Weston, who appeared pleased with their discussion. Queen Iduna stepped forward carrying Elsa, while Il was handed to his father. Together, the royal family gathered at the seat of honor—right where Elsa and Anna would sit many years from now.

Il's eyes widened in awe at the lights and music around him. Even he, who carried memories from another life, felt a warmth in his chest he had never known in his orphaned childhood.

'This time… I'll live a life worth living. I'll forge my own fate.'

King Agnarr raised his voice with gravitas:

"Ladies and gentlemen, today we gather to celebrate the birth of Arendelle's little royals: Prince Il and Princess Elsa."

"This is my first time as a father… and my heart is overwhelmed with emotion. But the first and greatest thanks go to my wife, Iduna, who gave me this blessing—and made great sacrifices for it."

His gaze toward his wife was warm, sincere, overflowing with love.

But suddenly, a baby's cry pierced the air—little Elsa had grown hungry.

The guests laughed gently, and the Queen offered a polite apology before leaving to nurse her.

That small moment of spontaneity broke the formal mood, and warmth spread through the room.

Well, for everyone… except those shocked by Harl's ravenous appetite. He had consumed such a ridiculous quantity of food that he nearly qualified as a national threat to the royal buffet!

Other than that, the celebration continued peacefully—filled with laughter, music, and the quiet hum of a kingdom that, for tonight at least, was whole.
