From Nemises To Lovers

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: The First Strike

Dawn broke over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the safe house. Inside, the team was already in motion, preparing for the mission that would cripple Langston once and for all. Today, they wouldn't just defend themselves they would strike first.

Claire pulled up a map on the tablet, pointing to a high-rise building in the city's financial district. "Langston's allies are meeting here in a few hours. They control his financial networks, arms supplies, and political favors. If we take them out, he's finished."

Damian tapped on his laptop, frowning. "Security is tight. Armed guards, surveillance, and an escape route built into the building. We won't get a second chance."

Isabella cracked her knuckles. "Then we don't miss."

Dressed in sleek, inconspicuous outfits, they moved through the city with precision. A black van, tinted windows, parked two blocks away from the target building. Inside, Claire monitored the feeds while Damian hacked into the security system.

"Cameras are looping. You've got a five-minute window before someone notices."

Alexander and Isabella exchanged a glance. "Let's move."

They slipped into the building's underground garage, weaving past parked luxury cars until they reached the stairwell. No alarms. No guards yet.

Up they went, floor by floor, their footsteps silent against the concrete.

They reached the 25th floor the meeting room. Muffled voices leaked through the thick doors. Langston's top men were inside, laughing over their drinks, unaware of the danger closing in.

Isabella exhaled. "Showtime."

Alexander kicked the door open. Chaos erupted.

Gunmen reached for their weapons too late. Isabella was already moving, taking down the nearest man with a brutal strike. Alexander fired, taking out another.

One of Langston's key men bolted for the emergency exit. Damian's voice crackled in their earpieces. "I've locked the doors. No one's getting out."

Within moments, the room was silent Langston's empire crumbling, one piece at a time.

Isabella stepped over to the last man still conscious, one of Langston's top financiers. She crouched beside him, voice cold. "Tell Langston we're done playing defense."

The man's breath came in short gasps. "You have no idea what you've started."

She smirked. "Oh, but I do."

Claire's voice cut in. "You've got company. Time to go."

They slipped back into the stairwell as sirens wailed in the distance. By the time Langston's men arrived, the room was empty except for the wreckage they had left behind.

Back in the van, Isabella leaned her head back, adrenaline still coursing through her veins.

Alexander sat beside her, watching her carefully. "We just declared all-out war."

She turned to him, eyes steady. "Then let's make sure we win."

In the city below, Langston was already preparing his next move.

But so were they.
