From Nemises To Lovers

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: No Turning Back

The car sped through the darkened streets, the city lights streaking past like fleeting ghosts. Inside, silence stretched thick with the weight of what they had just done. Langston wouldn't forgive this. He wouldn't forget.

Claire, gripping the wheel tightly, glanced at them through the rearview mirror. "We need to disappear. Now."

Damian was already working on his laptop. "Langston will have his men scanning every camera, every exit route. We have maybe an hour before they lock the city down."

Isabella clenched her jaw. They had planned for this. But planning for war was different from living it.

Alexander exhaled sharply. "We need to hit him again before he regroups."

Damian scoffed. "You want to attack now? We barely got out."

But Isabella nodded. "He's reeling right now. The best time to strike is when he's still catching his breath."

Claire's brows furrowed. "What are you suggesting?"

Isabella turned to Alexander. Their minds were in sync.

"We go after his alliances," Alexander said. "Cut off his resources before he can rebuild."

Damian let out a low whistle. "You two are insane."

Claire bit her lip, considering. "If we do this, there's no undoing it."

Isabella's voice was unwavering. "There was no undoing this the moment Langston made it personal."

Claire took a sharp turn, exiting the city and heading toward a safe house buried deep in the countryside.

For a brief moment, the world was quiet.

Isabella leaned her head back, closing her eyes for just a second.

Alexander's fingers brushed against hers.

She didn't pull away.

Neither did he.

The war had begun. But they weren't fighting it alone.
