Chapter 12 The First Subordinate with Full Loyalty

Regarding his father's disbelief that he could win this competition, Lin Haoran simply smiled and did not argue much.

There was no need.

After chatting with Lin Wanan in the office for a long time, Lin Haoran prepared to leave.

"Haoran, come home and stay for the night. Your mother misses you," Lin Wanan suddenly said.

"Okay, Dad, I understand," Lin Haoran replied with a gentle smile, then left the office in a relaxed manner.

Originally, he had planned to stay near Central tonight to be closer to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and better follow the market.

But since his father had asked, he gladly agreed to go home tonight and spend time with his family.

After leaving the chairman's office, Lin Haoran did not immediately leave Wanan Group Tower. Instead, he took the elevator to the sixth floor.

Lin Haoran was thoroughly familiar with the layout of the building.

The Group's Securities and Business Department was located on the sixth floor.

As a listed company, Wanan Group had established the Securities and Business Department from the start to manage matters related to stock purchases, sales, holdings, and settlements, including shareholder dividends and profit distributions after the company's public listing.

Upon entering the department's office, he saw the staff busy at work.

Lin Haoran went straight to the department head's office.

The head of the Securities and Business Department was Dai Bin, a man in his forties.

Seeing Lin Haoran walk in, Dai Bin immediately put down his work and smiled, "Young Master, what brings you here today?"

At Wanan Group, junior employees liked to call Lin Haoran 'Chairman Lin.'

But executives preferred to address him as 'Young Master.'

Lin Haoran casually sat down in a chair and said to Dai Bin, "Minister Dai, I came to talk to you about a private matter."

"Please, Young Master, anything I can do, I'll be at your service," Dai Bin said with curiosity.

A private matter?

Lin Wanan had not disclosed the succession competition, so even Wanan Group's management was unaware.

Thus, everyone at Wanan Group maintained a very respectful attitude toward Lin Haoran.

"Minister Dai, I would like to ask if there is any stock trader in our department who is currently facing a family hardship?" Lin Haoran asked.

"Family hardship? Now that you mention it, I recall one colleague. His name is Su Zhixue, and he has just completed five years in our department. He's a good young man.

Unfortunately, his two-year-old son was diagnosed with a rare disease requiring surgery that costs over a hundred thousand Hong Kong dollars.

When we learned about it, I even organized a department fundraiser, but honestly, the donations were just a drop in the bucket compared to the massive medical expenses.

The young man earns just over four thousand dollars a month, and his wife had to quit her job to care for their sick son, so their household faces tremendous financial pressure.

Even with extreme frugality, it's hard to save much each year. Raising over a hundred thousand is nearly impossible for them," Dai Bin explained with a sigh.

Earning over four thousand a month was quite good in Hong Kong at the time, but supporting a family with a sick child on a single income made it extremely difficult.

The surgery cost was a crushing burden for them.

Hearing Dai Bin's detailed account, a light flickered in Lin Haoran's eyes.

Wasn't this exactly the kind of person he was looking for?

"How is Su Zhixue's character and work performance?" Lin Haoran continued asking.

"His character is impeccable. He's well-liked among his colleagues and always handles his work seriously and responsibly.

He used to be cheerful and optimistic, but this sudden family misfortune has weighed him down, making him much more reserved and silent," Dai Bin said with genuine sympathy.

"And his trading skills?"

"Very competent. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made it into our group. After five years, his experience is quite rich.

Actually, I was planning to promote him in the near future," Dai Bin said with a smile.

"Minister Dai, please call Su Zhixue over. I'd like to speak with him," Lin Haoran instructed.

"Of course, Young Master. Please wait a moment," Dai Bin agreed without hesitation.

Soon, Lin Haoran met Su Zhixue.

He was under thirty years old, but Lin Haoran felt he looked more like a man in his thirties, with a slight weariness etched into his face.

Clearly, he had been through a lot recently.

"Chairman Lin, you wanted to see me?" Su Zhixue asked nervously.

Lin Haoran didn't know him, but he knew Lin Haoran—everyone in Wanan Group knew who the young master was.

"Come with me. I have something to discuss with you," Lin Haoran said.

He led Su Zhixue to an empty office.

Inside, Su Zhixue looked uneasy. Although Lin Haoran was much younger, his status made him seem unapproachable.

Seeing his discomfort, Lin Haoran gently said, "Relax. Please, have a seat."

"I heard that your son urgently needs surgery costing over a hundred thousand Hong Kong dollars?" Lin Haoran asked, his tone filled with concern.

"Yes, Chairman Lin," Su Zhixue answered nervously. "The doctor said surgery must be performed soon to control the disease, and the total cost is 180,000 dollars.

The sooner the intervention, the better the recovery.

I've been trying my best to raise the money to get my son treated as quickly as possible."

Though puzzled about why Lin Haoran suddenly mentioned this, Su Zhixue answered truthfully.

"How much are you still short?"

"After doing everything I could, I'm still short by more than 120,000," Su Zhixue said, unable to hide his frustration.

Lin Haoran smiled warmly and said sincerely, "I can lend you the money for your son's surgery.

But under one condition—you work for me privately. I'll pay you five thousand Hong Kong dollars a month, with weekends off.

If your performance is good, there will be opportunities for promotion.

Once you've repaid the debt, you'll be free of any obligation.

As for your current position in the Group, don't worry—I'll speak to my father and make sure your job is preserved.

After repaying the loan, if you wish to return to work here, you'll be welcome anytime."

Lin Haoran's words pierced through the gloom like a ray of sunlight.

Su Zhixue, overwhelmed by emotion, couldn't hold back his tears. He dropped to his knees, voice trembling, "Chairman Lin, your great kindness, I will never forget.

As long as you lend me the money to save my son, I will serve you faithfully for life, no matter how hard or tiring the work!"

A grown man crying for his child was nothing to mock—it was something worthy of respect.

From this, Lin Haoran knew that Su Zhixue was indeed a man of character.

As soon as Su Zhixue agreed to work for him, a loyalty progress bar appeared:

Su Zhixue: [Loyalty: 100/100]
