Chapter 11: Chapter 10: Plans About the Ice and Fire Well
( A/N- Yue Guan : Chrysanthemum Douluo)
The swirling mists of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well calmed, leaving behind a stillness that was both peaceful and eerie, a lull after a storm. Qian Renxue stood at the edge of the spring, her purple eyes surveying the otherworldly garden of herbs that grew impossibly along its borders. Fire on one side, ice on the other, yet coexisting in perfect, paradoxical harmony.
Poison Douluo Dugu Bo was still trying to process everything. The image of two ancient dragon souls being drawn out by a young girl—this girl—was burned into his memory. And now, she spoke of healing his martial soul's flaw as if it were a mere inconvenience. He had lived decades clinging to life through poison and pain. Yet this girl—no, this celestial being cloaked in human skin—spoke of salvation.
"I'll give you the two herbs," Qian Renxue said, voice cool and assured. "The Land Dragon Golden Melon and the Jade Bone Ice Grass. Your martial soul's flaw stems from the absence of a venom sac. The Jade Bone Ice Grass will act as a stabilizer—it will allow your bones to store poison naturally."
Poison Douluo Dugu Bo turned toward her sharply. "You said you've read about this in the Record of Immortal Herbs. But even among the Spirit Hall's inner circle, not everyone has access to such knowledge. How can I believe—"
"She's right," Chrysanthemum Douluo interrupted gently, stepping forward. His tone was laced with reverence as he gazed at the garden of divine flora. "She's absolutely right."
Poison Douluo Dugu Bo frowned. "You mean—?"
"I've only seen Jade Bone Ice Grass recorded in ancient scrolls, but I never imagined it would be here. And… the Land Dragon Golden Melon… its spiritual fluctuations are unmistakable." Chrysanthemum Douluo's voice trembled with excitement. "This is a treasure trove of immortal herbs… Do you understand what this place is? What it could mean for Spirit Hall?"
The Poison Douluo stood frozen for a moment. He looked toward the misty well, then back toward Qian Renxue, eyes narrowed. "…All these years, I've been sitting on this treasure and didn't even know it."
Qian Renxue nodded calmly. "And now you understand. With these herbs, your martial soul's instability will be fixed. No more painful backlash. You'll be able to wield your toxin freely."
Poison Douluo Dugu Bo's lips parted slightly, disbelief still clinging to the corners of his expression—but the weight of Chrysanthemum Douluo's confirmation left little room for doubt.
"Then… you truly plan to give this to me?" he asked.
"Of course," Qian Renxue replied. "I'll tell you exactly how to absorb the Jade Bone Ice Grass. The energy within is potent and frigid—you'll need to first temper your bones by circulating your spirit power in reverse. Let the essence seep into your marrow gradually. Once it stabilizes, your martial soul will begin to undergo a natural evolution."
Poison Douluo Dugu Bo stood quietly for a moment, then turned toward the icy bank of the well. His expression was grim, almost reverent, as he walked toward the cluster of chilling blue flora. He knelt before the Jade Bone Ice Grass and extended his hand carefully.
The others watched silently as the Poison Douluo began the delicate process of extracting and absorbing the immortal herb.
Meanwhile, Qian Renxue turned toward Chrysanthemum Douluo.
"Elder Yue," she said softly, "take only what we need. Pick a few herbs with the highest spiritual density—but don't disturb the roots of this place. We'll need to return later."
Chrysanthemum Douluo nodded but couldn't contain his glee. His footsteps were light as he approached the herb garden, scanning with expert eyes. He muttered under his breath about medicinal properties, growth patterns, and optimal harvesting techniques. Then, suddenly, he stopped.
His breath hitched.
There, nestled among vibrant fire-attributed flora, was a flower unlike any other—a solitary bloom with golden stalks and soft, sky-colored petals, exuding a fragrance that resonated with his very soul.
"The Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum…" he whispered in awe. "My martial soul… this is its original source. An immortal herb… mirroring my own essence…"
He turned to Qian Renxue, speechless, mouth opening and closing with unsaid words.
She tilted her head ever so slightly, a ghost of a smile tugging at her lips. "You can take it," she said simply.
Chrysanthemum Douluo blinked.
"You deserve it," she continued. "And your power will be needed soon."
Chrysanthemum Douluo's throat bobbed as he swallowed his emotions. Slowly, reverently, he knelt beside the flower.
"…Thank you, Your Highness."
Chrysanthemum Douluo carefully plucked the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, his fingers almost trembling with reverence. He bowed once more before turning and walking to the side, settling into a lotus position near the fire-attributed edge of the spring. As he began to absorb the essence of the herb, golden petals shimmered faintly, resonating with his soul and causing a gentle pulse of energy to spread outward.
Qian Renxue, meanwhile, turned her attention back to the garden.
'Ghost Douluo will need something to strengthen his spirit affinity and speed—something shadow-aspected, yet able to bolster his physical resilience,' she thought. Her eyes scanned across a cluster of herbs in the cooler, more shaded section of the Yin Yang Well, where ghostly-colored vines coiled around chunks of icy stone.
Her gaze settled on a pitch-black herb with curling leaves and mist-like tendrils that danced faintly above it.
Dark Nether Grass.
A spirit herb known for enhancing stealth-type martial souls and increasing affinity with darkness. It would push Ghost Douluo to the next rank, while refining his spirit power and potentially allow for a smoother breakthrough in the future. More importantly, it would pair well with his martial soul.
She reached forward, harvesting it with delicate precision, wrapping it in a spirit-sealing cloth before storing it in her ring.
Qian Renxue's gaze lifted once again to the entire well.
This place was more than a simple cultivation site. It was a paradise. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well wasn't just miraculous because of its elemental balance. The ambient energy here… it accelerated growth. Ten times faster, she recalled from the Record of Immortal Herbs.
It could change everything.
A plan started to form in her mind.
She looked over her shoulder at Poison Douluo Dugu Bo, still absorbing the Jade Bone Ice Grass, and at Chrysanthemum Douluo, already glowing faintly with rising spirit energy.
"With this well, we can raise more immortal herbs. We can restore what has been lost to time. Spirit Hall can produce elite Spirit Masters at a rate that will shatter the balance of power."
Qian Renxue exhaled slowly, her golden hair fluttering slightly in the mist.
